As good as gore
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
"Performs and lasts as well as the Gore Ride on cables I paid twice as much for. Heavy mud winter riding and no rust so far. Additionally after initial fitting they didn't seem to stretch much!"

Solid dependable cable set
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I have tried several gear cable sets over the years, these are easily the best and they seem to never die. 2 years use on another bike and still shifting smoothly, perhaps not quite up to the Gore cable sets, but a lot cheaper!"

Slick as a greased weasel!!!
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Purchased new gear cables after returning from a weekends ride in Afan Forest. I have to admit I'm the worst sort of biker, in that I'm happy to ride but not to maintain.
Therefore the prospect of fitting new gear cables was quite daunting to me. Anyway, the instructions were very straight forward and within 30 minutes I had the cables fitted and the gears working smoothly.
These are a fantastic product and have transformed my gear shifting into an almost silent affair.
Very slick, cool looking, great upgrade.

Cracking Cannondale
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Having had problems with gear changing on my cannondale tesaro ( uses full length gear cable outer ) i changed both gear cables with the flying snake set, what a difference !! easy to do, great looking, and works fantastically !! if you have any problems with not so stiff cables.... this is your answer, plus, fully waterproof as well. Only problem as it was a full lenght outer i used, it is a little expensive as i had to have 2."

Didn't last long
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"This cable set was easy enough to fit and worked well initially.
However, after only a couple of months, the continuous liner that runs between the inner cable and the outer Ø4mm housing started to bunch up inside the outer housing at the tension adjusters on the shifters. This increased the friction and stopped the indexing from working.
I replaced these cables with XTR cables that have now been working for over 18 months without fault."

Fit carefully and they work perfectly
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, Lightweight, mud-proof
Cons: Expensive
"I have three sets of transfil cables to fitted MTBs I look after (2 flying snake and 1 mudlovers - the same but black and not as light) They've been used all summer and all winter for 3 or 4 years and had no problems with excessive friction reported by other people. They are an expensive product designed to last years - so take your time when fitting them, or let a trusted Local Bike Shop do it.
I've had broken shifters and a seized front mech from salt damage on winter rides, but these cables continue to work flawlessly.
Fit them carefully, as you should with all cables - avoid any sharp turns when routing them and ensure the outer sits straight in the frame stops. There should be no kinks anywhere. (just the same as all gear cables)
Use a high quality bike cable housing cutter to get a clean flat end on the outer and re-open the whole in the outer after you've cut it, with a small spike. (There's one fitted to my cable cutters)
There's no need to use this cable if you have full-length outer routing, as it's key features are the full length inner sleeve and light weight.
I would not recommend these for cable routing that runs bare inner cable over a plastic thing under the bottom bracket, but otherwise they should run smoothly and friction free for many years in all weather.
I'm about to buy another set."

Add some bling to your ride
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, not very flexible
"Great cable set but rather expensive. Originally bought to use with Ultegra 6700 levers under the bar tape but found that the outer was too stiff to be used like this.
I am now going to use them with a standard set of 7800 DuraAce STI levers."

Pros: Attractive
Cons: Expensive, Wears Out Easily
"i have had two sets of these cables and cannot recommend them as the same fault has happened twice now.
the cables have a thin plastic sleeve through which they are passed before both the cable and sleeve are pushed through the outer housing.
in short the sleeve creates friction and after a few months gets worn by the cable and stops up shifts as the rear mech spring is not powerful enough to pull the cable back.
stick with dura ace or somethine less complicated which actually works."

beware
Pros: Attractive
Cons: Low Quality
"I have used these on my dually and found them to be of average quality. The performance was sub-standard, especially on the front mech. The cable housing is almost totally inflexible, which is OK depending on your frame, but the sheath/liner adds an enormous amount of drag into the shifting system. The rear (which I am running full length) is OK and works well. The front has been very fiddly to set correctly and simply does not allow the mech to move to its full range due to drag, meaning I cannot select gears when I need them. My conventional cable setup was superior to this. I will replace my front cable to a normal setup."

Not so impressive
Pros: Attractive, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive, cable drag
"I bought these cables for my new road bike build for a couple of reasons: firstly I liked the idea of the weight saving compared to normal cables and secondly the cable stops on my Cervelo RS are position on the underside of the downtube right above the front tyre which therefore spews dirt onto the exposed gear cables. An enclosed cable system made sense.
I've previously used Gore cables and enjoyed years of smooth running but I thought I'd try these cables this time. The cables are easy enough to install though I found the cables fray badly when cut unless you hold the cable very close to the cut point. Once installed I was very disappointed by the feel. There is noticeable drag that makes every gear change less snappy than with standard Campagnolo cables lubed with Rock'n'Roll cable lube.
All in all, they look nice and the weight saving is useful but the outers are less flexible than normal cables and the sheaf introduces unwanted drag. Go Gore if you want a fully shielded cable."

Pros: Good Fit

"Bought these to fit on a shimano 105 set up. the fitting was simple and took no longer than std cables. performance was ok but not as perfect as gore cables. have only used them for a week so dont know about life expectancy."

Excellent sealed cable system!
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Rugged
Cons: slightly more difficult to fit than normal cables
"I have had a number of sets of these cables over the years, both gear and brake cable versions.
A bit more fiddly to fit that normal cables due to the full length liner but its not difficult.
The carbon effect finish looks smart and they run for ages - much less likely if not impossible for grit and muck to get into the cables and make shifting stiff.
Cheaper than the Gore branded sealed cables (I've had some of those too) and these are just as good!"

A bit short for full cable runs
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Rugged
"A really good product, that will hopefully have me shifting smoothly for an age, with the full cable inner liner. The only problem is that if you have a fully sealed cable run the amount of outer supplied is not enough to do front and rear mechs. But so far I've had the rear fitted for a month and suffered no cable stretch."

Excellent cables
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"My old MTB gear cables needed replacing so I was doing some research on the usual suspects when I came across these...
they are made from top quality materials, are a decent price, but best of all they form a fully sealed system.
In case (like me) you have never seen a sealed system before, the way it works is the same as a normal open system (where you have an outer casing and an exposed metal cable), except the metal cable has its own protective sheath along its whole length which runs inside the outer casing. The beauty of it is that you don't need any special cable mounts - you can fit it as a straight replacement for a standard system.
I've been using the cables for a few months now and I highly recommend them."
