Continental Explorer Mountain Bike Tyre

The Explorer is a favourite amongst serious cross country trail riders thanks to a well earned reputation for solid performance in tough UK conditions, and at a lighter overall weight than many of it's competitors.

A Competent off-road Performer
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Not Enough Features
"Generally a competent performer off-road. On muddy conditions (I use mud-specific tyres all-year [NE England]) it is necessary to run this tyre below the recommended minimum pressure at around 22 PSI.
I would not use these as a pair. Rather I would use one of these on the rear (with rear-facing directional option) and use a less knobbly, medium profile tyre on the front.
Basically, an off-road specific tyre - no good if you go on road regularly."

Pros: Great Value, Versatile
"These were like for like replacements as I was happy with them previously. They are a bit on the thin side and maybe there are better options for riders who ride extreme trails all the time. But for regular X-country, mixed with some Downhill they are more than adequate and being cheap is an added bonus."

Pros: Durable, Great Value, Versatile
"I have been using these tyres for a few years now, in 2.1" version, both on a Orange Sub 5 and my Hardtail. They are an excellent year-round choice for grip, wear and speed. I have worn out 2 rears (then I move the front to the back and put the new one on the front). Used them for racing too, and they've been fine."

Expecting Better
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Low Quality, Wears Out Easily
"Had endless punctures with these tires, due to the thin construction. The side wall eventually split and have had to replace. Done in 5-6 months. The grip however was good and had confidence in them when inflated! Due to the puncture issues I will not be buying these again."

good value for money
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"this is a not foldable tyre, but It is easy to assembly in the rim.
It works perfectly with sealant as a tubeless tyre.
The size 2.1 is a good choice for cross country, I wear it on the rear wheel and the grip is very good.
My partner says taht it works better like a front tyre but for me it is good too for the rear wheel

Why pay more?
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
"Had these on my lightweight hardtail for over a year.
Fantastic tyre in various conditions. They don't glog up in mud and they're fast on hard pack if you keep the pressure up.
Can't understand why people pay 300% more for tyres that perform 10% better."

Excellent tyre
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Versatile
"This is an excellent tyre at an excellent price. I can't vouch for how it will cope with an english winter but it's coped with everything I've tried so far."
