good entry levels
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable
Cons: Expensive
"Put these on my single speed, do the job as they should. The length of the rear cable included isn't very long, and the hoods make an annoying rattling noise which is taken care of by removing the seemingly superfluos grey inserts at the top of the shifters."

How to fix the rattle
Pros: Attractive, Good Fit
"As other reviewers have noted these levers can rattle. But it is easy to fix, there is a little grey plastic insert in the top of the lever which is visible when you pull it. All i needed to do was to push this in further and the rattling stopped.
I like the classic look of these , pretty happy with them. Price is pretty steep, but i don't imagine these are the highest selling item for Shimano so economies of scale probably aren't there."

Good standard brake levers
Pros: Great Value, Comfortable, Rugged
"Solid, easy to fit, comfortable hoods. Nothing special about these levers, but they do the job as well as any. I've got one on without a cable just for the hoods/hand positions and it's a bit rattly, but the one with the cable is quiet."

Rattle City
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Good Fit
Cons: Poor Quality, rattles...
"I thought these brakes were bullet proof. I used to have a pair on the old bike and wanted to replace them due to the rubber getting old and sticky, so thought it was an easy choice. Unfortunately, they rattle as soon as you take your hands off them and place them on the bars. Not good. They even rattle over the smoothest tarmac. I think I will have to replace them wihsCane Creek 5's like the other reviewer."

"Good simple kit with clear instructions. Wasn't expecting to get cables as well so a pleasant and welcome surprise there."

Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, Lightweight, Versatile
"Refurbishing an old Aussie built roadie that i have had for around 36 yrs and couldn't part with it.
Totally stripped down to bare steel then six coats of paint and over a few weeks rebuilt.
I used these brake levers to replace real old "safety" levers that were not good to use, anyhow these newies fit the spot well and they work 100%.....spring assisted as well which is a bonus as not all brands have this function.Married these up with new cables and Miche calipers (Wiggle of course) which I find work quite well.
Really happy with the old girl (bike that is) now although a lot heavier than the Pinarello still at least nice to ride.
