Excellent value, complete peace of mind
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"This is an excellent box for the money, if you aren't up for spending £300+ on one of the BBAlan/Scion boxes then I would really recommend this.
The box is big enough to easily accommodate any road bike (you may need to do more dismantling if you have an integrated seat post you can't remove/lower) - my bike fitted in just removing the wheels and turning the bars. There was enough extra room for me to put my helmet, shoes and a load of other bits and pieces in the box too.
I'm sure other reviewers have mentioned the catches can be a little fiddly to align so that you can close them but once you have the hang of it it really isn't an issue. It is lighter weight than other boxes which is a major plus given how awkward airlines are becoming with baggage.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking to take their bike abroad."

Excellent protect for your pride and joy
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Having spent several weeks checking out all the different bike boxes and having already hired both bikeboxallen and Polaris at different times. I finally decided on the B & W box, it has not disappointed. It has been on two flights and remained intact. I used pipe insulation and bubble wrap inside for double protection and zip tied the clips on the internal straps. The wheel bags and chain ring protector that are included are an added bonus for protection. The only negative I would give this box is the fact that the locks are a bit fiddly .
All in all a great choice and excellent value for money."

Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit

Bike Box/Flight Case

Pros: Durable, Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Great value, lightweight considering the level of protection it provides, if your bike is anything less than 9 kg then this will carry that and most of your kit also and spares etc and still meet the usual baggage requirements of 23kg. See from the pics how I have packed the first time with bubble wrap which is a faff so I then bought some high density foam tubes and cut them to fit so now packing is easy and only takes an hour all up. Get some fragile tape for the outside and lock it when in transit, you need to get the wheels in just the right position for it to all pack down snugly but without excessive pressure, if any baggage inspector opens it up they won't be so careful when closing the case again. I also taped up the locks to protect them and right around the seam to keep it all tight, if you're concerned then use a luggage strap to go round it as extra security."

Roof Box B&W International Bike Bo
Pros: Great Value
"Have been looking around for a good value bike box to protect my bike on a flight to Oz. Found this one on sale at wiggle.
I haven't used it yet, however...
It does seem slightly flimsy, and I can see what other reviews meant about lining up the catches to close it.
Overall, for the price, it seems like a good product that hopefully will do the job!"

Great value flight case with compromises
Pros: Great Value, Rugged
"Bought to transport my commuter whilst working abroad, the other reviews pretty well summed it up. It's a snug fit to say the least and the stated weight is somewhat optimistic. Latches can be a little iffy to open/close but no failures yet. Managed to get a medium rock lobster mtb hardtail with rigid forks in...just, I haven't tried with a road bike yet.
First time I've used one so it's not a 10 minute job to pack a bike up, particularly in a case so shaped.
Happily recommend, just don't pack the case with too many extras otherwise you'll end up over the weight limit."

Reliable bike box
Pros: Durable, Rugged, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"I had been looking at soft cases for a long haul trip I was doing and after being reminded about the light touch of the airport baggage handlers I decided a hard case would be alot more hard wearing and my bike would stand a better chance of arriving undamaged. The B&W seemed like a decent option and the price wasn't as steep as some of the other hard cases out there, Scicon Aerotech Evolution Bike Box in particular, which looks great but is big bucks. So from other reviews on this site I decided the B&W was the best option.
First impressions where good, my 57cm track frame fitted in easily with the wheels, bars + stem and seatpost taken off. I took a pedal off too so the wheels lay flat on the frame. The locking mechanism isn't as strong as I would have liked but it does the job, occasionally its hard to close as the unless the locks meet up exactly it won't shut properly. The first trip with it went fine and the bikes arrived in one piece after a trip to Christchurch NZ. flying via Auckland stopping in LA from Heathrow. I used a bit of bubble wrap to make sure there was no metal on metal rubbing in the case and managed to fit in my running shoes, cycling shoes, track pump and tools too. Helmets are a little trickier to fit in as the size and shape takes up so much room, so allow some extra space in your luggage for that as I couldn't fit mine in the bike box.
All in a all a good purchase. Maybe a little expensive for what it actually is, but if you have an expensive bike, wheelset etc etc you want to travel with, its piece of mind and it saves the pain of thinking I wish I'd paid a bit more and it would have arrived undamaged."

Great quality box for the money
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, looks great when you've stuck custom decals on
Cons: on the heavy side
"I bought this for a group trip via easyjet to the Pyrennees. Only used once so far but really pleased with it - in comparison to the other guy's boxes it was much more compact and portable. The tapered shape makes a big difference. Very rigid shell and a decent German well built feel to it.
It is quite heavy so watch out for sports weight restrictions. My only other gripe is the handle doesn't feel that strong and was flexing a bit - not sure how long that will last so planning to buy a very expensive carbon bike to put less stress on the box :-)"

Great bike box
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
"As previously noted other people this box is great value for money especially when i got it with 20% off.
I have just used it for the first time on a trip to Lanzarote.
The bike fits easily, the wheek bags are great also. The locks take a little bit of lining up but no issue really.
Watch the weight of the box, it must be 12.5kg so be aware of the weight limits by your airline.
On arrival in Lanzarote on of the corners had a slight dent where it had been mis handled but is pushed back out and no damaged done.
There are better boxes out there but they are 2 -3 times the price and this does the job just as well !!!!

Top quality compact hard case

Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile, Good Fit
"I bought a pair of these to replace a couple of more basic hard cases bought about 10 years ago.
They are well made. The plastic is not brittle, the edges are valanced (aluminium capping), the wheels are a decent size and easily replaced and spares are included. The case is even stable when stood on it's wheels (unlike some others I've used). The locks are a little fiddly but just require careful alignment as the case is closed. There interior is foam lined and has a couple of straps to stop the frame sliding about. Also included are several braces to fit between the dropouts when the wheels are removed and so prevent the frame being deformed, and also an excellent plastic strut to brace across the middle of the case to prevent the contents being crushed. Finally, a pair of good quality padded wheel bags are also included, although I chose not to use mine preferring instead to add some additional padding to the frame with foam pipe insulation tubes. I also added a webbing roof-rack type of strap around the middle of the case just for a belt and braces approach.
One of the key selling points for me was the compact size of the case, and this helps keep the weight down to about 10kg. I think it's the only one that will fit in the boot of an estate car with the rear seats still up. Inspite of the compact size, and contrary to the manufacturer's advice, it possible to fit (cross-country) full-suspension bikes in. I managed to fit a small Giant Anthem X and an 18.75" Merlin Works 4.0 in our cases. The trick is to effectively shorten the wheel base by rotating the forks 180 degrees and also remove the front brake calliper. Obviously one also has to remove the wheels, handlebar, rear derailleur and pedals. The Merlin also needed the chain set removed. Neither bike required the saddle lowering.
Our bikes survived a recent trip to Austria unscathed, although the boxes have a few scratches and scrapes, but that's what they're thee for.
I don't think there's a better box an the market at this price."

good value
"not tested yet but at <£200 on sale it seems better value that the BBA which I have used (hired) before. plastic not as hard as BBA, but thsi box comes with a centre spacer to prevent crushing. no internal straps to hold bike in one place so will need to carefully pad it to prevent bike moving in transit. if BBA wasnt so expensive wodul have gone with one of them but think this is much better value for money"

Very practical and effective
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality
Cons: tricky catches
"Box is well-made with clear instructions for use and I was able to fit my Roubaix into it relatively easily. Only slight irritation is that the catches are a little tricky to engage. However it won't fit into the boot of even a big saloon taxi (for example Mercedes E Class). Solid and secure protection for your bike."

Bike box
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Unattractive, Bulky, Limited Color Choices
"I bought this box for my first spring training trip to Spain, largely because of the weight and robustness of a plastic box over bags. On the whole i would say that i am satisfied with the performance of the box and happy with the quality, but let down by the weight. Don't fooled with the advertised weight of 9.5kg's, it's not! It's more like 13.5kg's which can make your bike and box exceed the 20kg's of most budget airlines. Make sure you get a friendly check-in staff member so they don't sting you for excess luggage!"

Roof Box Touring Box Bike Box
Posted June 27, 2011
Hi, I refer to your comment of the above, did you really buy this shape ot did you actually but the square one. in case of the latter is is definitely 13.5kg, but the other one is not. i have checked the dealers website and its 9.5kg. It would be misleading if what yyou said is true. i am thinking of buying one and the whole purpose is to hit that sub 20kg mark inc the bike.
cheers anyway

Good Value Bike Box
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"This is a great value product. Enough space to add padding which should still get you in well under the weight limit for plane transport.
Thought at first the outside clips were a bit suspect, but once they are locked no problem.
Wheels deep enough and should not be damaged, but then again one never knows - especially with the baggage handlers as frustrated as many passengers over the last week (it's 23 December).
Would be nice if there was a choice of another colour (just kidding).
Once bike strapped in and secured, there should be no problems. Will recommend."

Peace Of Mind
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive
"Bought this box after much deliberation and searching for bike box products. This box came up trumps when traveling to Majorca for a weeks cycling in the mountains. My Merlin bike is my pride & joy so I wanted to ensure its safe passage and this box gave me peace of mind. Big enough to pack my bike, helmet, track pump, spare tyres, tubes and all my cycling clothes (used as additional padding for the bike). There are though a few negative comments and they are as follows:- As commented on other reviews the latches are not the easiest to engage and some times take a few attempts. All the wheels built into the box are of the fixed type so rolling the bike box from the car to the departures lounge is not the easiest thing to do (1 PR of front swivelling wheels would help a lot). But all in all I feel this box is good value for the money. Here's to the next cycling holiday abroad."

great product
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Good Fit
"No soft cases can provide the protection that this box can from the rough conditions of airport transfers, it is roomy to fit easily my road bike (medium size), the wheel bags are heavy duty, a spair pair of wheels is provided and the instructions are very good too. it is a bit heavier than stated (around 12kg altogether) but an excellent box. Recommended"
