First choice
Pros: Durable, Versatile
Cons: Expensive, hard to fit
"Had a set of lightweight race tyres that came with new bike which I shredded commuting in London over a few months and had numerous punctures. Purchased continental 4 seasons for front and gator duraskin for rear and definitely made right choice. Little heavy and quite expensive but the grip and durability are second to none. I also race bike at weekend and never felt the tread or wire walls slow me down, especially when I can finish without a puncture and have confidence to throw bike into corners in any weather."

Fast shipping to Australia
Pros: Attractive, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, fast shipping
"Can't believe I ordered these and they arrived 5 days later! No trouble with fitting at all for me, no tools required. I originally ordered 700x23 but they were out of stock so I changed to 700x25. I'm glad I did because the 23's would have been too small for my use as a commuter. The bike seems slightly more demanding and twitchy to ride than with the 28's that were fitted previously. In hindsight the 700x28's may have been a better choice. However my commute time has dropped due to the higher average speed attainable. And it's easier uphill too. Very pleased with these tyres."

Great winter tire
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
"Have had problems with lots of winter flats because of debris on roads.
Switched to Continental Ultra Gater Duraskins and have had no problems in over a month. The road grip is great in the rain and the roll resistence is acceptable (using tire size 25 vs 23 on summer tires).
The only difficulty is putting the tire on the rim (somewhat tight), but has not been a big problem as I have not had any flats since putting them on."

Excellent Training Tyres
Pros: Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: difficult to fit, rolling not awesome...
"Although I haven't run these tyres on my current bike yet, I had them on a previous ride, but I most likely will. These tyres are excellent for training with. I have ridden through all manner of things on these and never once experienced a flat tyre. Not even a cut on the case. They are extremely impressive tyres. The only drawback, as been noted in other reviews, is that fitting these tyres is very difficult. Tyre levers are a must, and care must be taken to insure against pinch flats. That said, I never blew a tube whilst riding on these tyres so it should be a rare occurence that you need to change tubes. I have raced on them, but they would definitely not be a choice for a race tyre. Having said that, that does not detract from the quality of this product because it is not it's intended job."

Great tyre, but tough to fit!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
Cons: very difficult to install
"These tyres are great and do exactly what they're intended to do - protect against punctures.
My only complaint is that these tyres are #@ hard to fit onto the rims! I've used these on two different wheelsets, so I'm pretty sure it's the tyre that's the problem. Basically, they require super-human strength to get the bead to mount into the rim properly. I actually gave myself blisters on both thumbs before finally admitting defeat and using tyre levers to mount the tyre (something I try to avoid because of the risk of pinch flats).
That said, once they're on, they do what they claim to do. I just hope I never get a flat - I don't fancy having to try to mount the tyre onto the rim on the side of the road!"

Great tyre, great price
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: hard to fit
"I've been riding this tyre for a month or two now and I can't fault it. Bought them after getting 4 punctures in 5 days and had enough of roadside repairs and walking my bike home.
Since fitting them, no punctures! They perform well in all weathers never had any grip problems. I would recommend them to anyone, the only problem is fitting they are stiff and you’ll need 3 hands!"

Excellent commuter tyre
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Lightweight, Rugged
"I was looking for a change of tyre from my specilized armadilos which have served me well for a couplle of years. I commute to work every day averaging 18 miles through London. So, antipuncture was essential. These continentals had mixed reviews all over the web, but there were more good than bad, so I had a punt. I'l glad I did. These tyres are excellent. I've had not a single problem with them. With the central slick section on the trend they hammer along but corner well with the off centre trend.
Couldn't be happer with them. Definitely recommend them to any commuter looking for speed, durability at a reasonable price"

Durable and bulletproof (almost)
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
"I've used these tyres for 4 or 5 years now and what a difference they make! Prior to these I used other non-armoured tyres with anti-puncture tape. I would have one puncture a week from thorns etc and one per month from the anti-puncture tape wearing a hole in the inner tube. With these tyres i can go a whole winter without a puncture. They are heavier than a race tyre but so what? I want longevity and puncture resistance not to shave a few 100ths of a second off my commute to work time. The central part of the tyre is slick but grip in the wet is fine. I go through a couple of pairs of tyres a year and I'm out in all weathers 4-5 days a week. Spending a bit more on these than cheaper brands is well worth the while as you spend less time on the roadside freezing to death changing inner tubes and less money on repairing punctures."

"Found these tyres easy to fit (about 20 mins for both) and noticed that they were totally different to the ones that came with the bike, more balanced and more grip thet make you feel more comfortable and confident."

Ready for the winter.....
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
"I bought these for winter commuting. They grip fine - only slid on a wet drain cover and there's nothing that wouldn't have done so. They are comfortable to ride, not too sluggish (mine are 25mm so are a little slower than my regular tyres). Continental quality is reliable. I run them at the recommended pressure (see Continental website) and they absorb the potholes much better than a 23mm tyre at a really high pressure. No punctures this winter and after a few hundred miles they aren't shredded or looking at all tired. Which is more than I can say for an often soggy MAMIL..."

Great tyre, John O'groats to Lands End No Puncher
Pros: Durable, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged
"Fantastic tyre. Bought for the puncher resistant values as i didnt want anything else to worry about. Did not let me down, cycled through snow, rain, Hail and sunshine and the tyre never gave me as much as a flinch. As Bontrager and speacialized tyres were deflaiting around me throughout the trip the trusty GatorSkin stood firm."

Puncture resistance vs Grip
Pros: Durable, Rugged, High Quality
Cons: Unattractive
"Bought these to replace the orange Vittorio tyres supplied with my Felt Z6, they are very good at resisting punctures from thorns and glass.
Grip feels a bit compromised and cornering is less confident than with a more supple tyre.... fine in a straight line though and I've had no problems with acceleration.
The weave on the sidewalls could look better and means the writing is a bit faint, but it is readable when they are clean and in good light.
I have raced with them, but I'd say overall there are better treads out there for rolling and grip, and as far as a commuter and training tyre goes I can't fault it."

Excellent puncture protection
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"I had 4 punctures in 2 weeks before buying these and have not had one in the three months since, so very happy, they are not the cheapest but it is worth the extra as insurance against punctures, good rolling resistance and found them easy to fit. highly recommend"

Bomb proof but not grippy
Pros: Rugged
Cons: not very grippy
"These are incredibly durable. Nothing has penetrated them yet, and I've had them on my winter bike for two seasons now - through rain, salt, ice and grit. However, I do have to remind myself to take extra care when cornering, since they aren't as soft and grippy as Michelin Pro Race's or Conti GP4000 which I ride on through the rest of the year. It's something I've heard from other riders too. The rear breaks traction quite easily on damp climbs, and you don't need very big angles of lean to feel the bike squirm. I've successfully run them 10 to 20 psi lower than summer tires, which helps with the ride and grip. Bomb proof though, just when you need it most."
