Look good perform well
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"I like these and for this kind of breaking system work well, but having used Disc breaks previously cannot get to over enthused, I have tried many different pad to get any where near the performance you get with disc breaks and this brand was the best of those I tried."

They work!
Pros: Adjustable
"Been using these blocks for a month now for my daily commute.
Good in the dry and on the few occasions it has rained they have been very efficient and provide much more braking assistance than previous blocks I've had. A little fiddly setting up but after a quick tweak on my first ride they have needed no attention since.
One slight irritation was that two out of the four blocks I had initial problems in that the nuts did no go fully down the threads and had to be 'slackened' using pliers. Both blocks were on the same side of the bike so possibly a manufacturing issue? Everything ok once problem resolved.
Despite 'threads' issue/annoyance, I would buy again."

Kool Stops
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Adjustable
"So these are good as a replacement to Shimano's but not as good as brand new Shimano XT brakes. Do the job for me in the wet and rain when commuting, but not so great when downhill and pushing hard. Live life on the edge then :-)"

Amazing stopping power
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"Brake pads that kill. I use them on my MTB and the stopping power was amazing. I have the Shimano M770 v brake and I had to loosen the cable because it was stopping very fast. The only draw back is the price. It worth every penny though."

Definitely not disks
"These pads were better than the original ones on my Tektro Oryx
cantilever brakes , but turn them into disk brakes they definitely did not
and claims that they are the best brake pad ever leave one
dissappointed in the state of the art in brake pads.
My opinion is that they seem grippier than the previous pads
and they haven't squealed once since being adjusted with a bit
of toe out. I'd get them again or try the Kool Stop triple compound ones.
There is a noticeable difference in radius between the pad and a 700c wheel rim so these may not suit 700c wheels. There doesn't seem
to be a Kool Stop Road dual compound equivalent just a thinline one,

Excellent performance
"I purchased these to go on my Trek 7.6 FX which I use for daily commuting. I understand these have been designed for mountain bikes however I have fitted them to my hybtid and they work excellently, so far only tested in the dry.
I would highly recommend them.

Good pads
Pros: Versatile
"These pads work well. I had a little trouble setting them up to be quiet but that may be my skill level and not the pads fault."

Good quality brake pads
Pros: Durable, High Quality
"Have had these on the bike for the last week. In that time I have ridden every day with several rainy days. These pads are working well, with good modulation, and it appears they will last well."

Sweet stopping power
Pros: Durable, Rugged, High Quality, Good Fit
"Decent pads. Great stopping power with novel mud removing kick to make sure the surface is clean before the pad hits the rim. Bonus, no break squeal from first use."

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Great Value, High Quality
"Been using these for a while now, far better in every way to standard shimano blocks. Harder compound but does not affect braking. Used for commute bike not mtb."

Great but a little expensive.
Pros: Adjustable, Good Fit, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"Excellent, braking improved no end! I've had a lot of cheaper break blocks but they were not a patch on these. Only downfall is the price, but sometimes you do get what you pay for!"

Best ever.
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"Easily the best ever brake pads I have ever had the pleasure to have on my bike. They work perfectly in all weather and no squeek.
I recently bought a new bike with disc brakes but I will always make sure I have some of these stored away in the shed. They are attractive (For pads) and they stand out.
Trust me when I say get these and you won't be ever wanting to go back to the other pads on the market.

stopping well
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Versatile

"A great idea and it works. Stops well in the wet and dirt as well as in better conditions. A good balance for a bike ridden on the road and also off road or just in the wet and dirty."

Boost your braking
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"Don't believe the hype, v brakes can still be powerful, maintenance free and cheap. However if you are still struggling to stop in time stick some of these brake pads on and be amazed by the difference they can make"

Good stopping power
Pros: High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"In an attempt to get more life out of my v-brakes, and concern over the ever thinning rim walls on my cool Ritchey Girder XC wheels that have been scarily sanded down by previous blocks, I thought I'd try these on my stock Cane Creek Direct Curve calipers.
THE GOOD: The design is really good. You'd be hard pushed to install them wrongly and they look cool. The blocks have an angled 'toe in' design that means the back end always touches the rim first. Also, this scoops all the dirt off your rim, keeping them shiny clean. On a recent excursion up and down some rooty forest tracks, the brakes cleared so much mud off the rims that the front and rear calipers were buried in huge mud balls. Buried under all this crud they still worked perfectly! In the pouring rain they brake as well as in the dry - they inspire confidence. You don't get that sinking feeling (like with other v-brakes) when you're nailing it too much, and you jam on the levers and realise your brakes are nicely lubricated with slippery mud and drizzle. KoolStops seem to go easier on the rims too - less stripping of metal flecks. They really let me push my riding further.
THE BAD: Unfortunately - these KoolStops do seem to squeal like crazy, even if it's dry - in practice they're not any quieter than other brake blocks I've had (Cane Creek, Tektro). The noise gets seriously annoying when trying to ride tricky single track. Maybe it's my rims or the direct curve v-brakes. My previous brakes squealed like mad, despite cleaning and toeing and setting correct torque on components etc. At crucial moments on trails they'd start screaming so bad that sometimes I'd just stop and hop down the steep bits on foot because it was doing my head in. So maybe it’s just that all brakes squeal on my setup. Luckily I'm usually alone and out in the sticks, so nobody gets to hear the loud squeaky descents I make.
THE UGLY: Massive mud balls on your brake calipers. (But they impress the road cyclists when you make it back into town).
Inevitably, I'm going to switch to discs – my wheels have disc hubs, so it was pretty weird to have rim brakes as stock anyhow. Check out my video to see (hear) how annoying the brakes are. Only 4 stars overall due to the noise."

Not cheap but worth it
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Good Fit
"Good fit kit that's easy to adjust for any angle of toe-in, great stopping power, these are the dug's danglies.
These in combination with a hefty toe-in completely cured the (notorious) brake judder and squeal of my Trek XO1.
They don't wear out as quickly as some people seem to think; they last longer than the Shimanos on my road bike which gets about equal use anyway."

Vbrake Heaven
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"Have used Kool Stop for the last 15 years on and off - just like my brakes - on and off. If you have not upgraded to disks, these will give you disk-like stopping from V-brakes wet / dry / muddy they always work well.
Trouble is you only notice your brakes when they don't work. These might be pricey but they last well and work better than any other blocks I have tried.
