Great brake blocks
Pros: High Quality, quiet braking
Cons: fitting instyructions could be clearer.
"Good stoppers and quiet despite my inexpertese in getting the toe-in right. They seem to be made of a softer compound than the Maddison blocks they replaced and I am hoping that this will make them more rim frinedly as claimed."

Possibly the best brake pads ever!
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Great Value, High Quality
"I've been riding these pads since the early 90's and they just can't be beaten. I do a lot of riding in wet, muddy or wet, sandy conditions, and especially the salmon compound runs faultlessly and quietly - unlike disk pads which seem to be really noisy and wear out quickly once the grit gets in!"

Bought cantilever Salmon - did not fit
Cons: Poor Fit
"I bought the cantilever version of the Salmon to go in Tektro CR520 cantilever brakes. The post diameter was too large to fit in the cantilever arms. Definitely not for all cantilever brakes. Check before you buy."

"Only just fitted this product to my bike and they look great. The pads have not quite bedded in yet, but for cross brakes they are effective. I expect the stopping power will improve as the brakes bed in.

New life for an old bike

"I grabbed these as replacements for an old hybrid I rescued from roadside bulk rubbish collection. The originals were cracked, hard and perished, and having had good experience with Koolstop salmon on my road bike with V brakes, decided to give these canti versions a go. A bit fiddly to set up, as I suppose all canti's are, but easy to get right for great braking with no squeal."

Great performance brake pad

"Bought the salmon pads and a set of normal pads thinking that the salmon pads might not last. Over 3,000 miles later and very little sign of wear with brilliant peformance. They might seem a bit spongy but you'll have stood the bike on it's nose way before the sponginess has become an issue. No sign of fade either - but then I don't get that many long downhills on my rides."

Worth fitting

Cons: can be noisy if not fitted well
"I got these to replace a set I got from another store that did not stop me in the wet. They are really easy to fit thanks to the "plough" that gets the toe just right, but when this is worn and you get it wrong they can be noisy (my fault with the fitting not the shoe's). Thankfully these are much better in all weather conditions than the previous ones and I would definitely recommend."

"Was very pleased with this purchase. Installed it on my mountain bike with the cantilever brakes. No squeal. I'll have to replace my front brakes too. But they're expensive. Not sure if it's worth the price you pay."
