Cool Stop stops

"Cool Stop break pads do as their name implies stops. These pads were easy to install and fit. Breaking performance is cool. Hit the levers and the wheels stop instantly when dry. They have sublime feel and you can feel them gripping the wheel. They do not feel like a block of wood with with an on or off binary reaction. Other blocks tend to scate across the rim, these grip it. When very cold 1 - 5 `C they can sound like carbon wheels and emite a little squeal, this soon goes once they have heated up. Recent wet decent 6 KM off mountain had them operating perfectly all the way down with progressive feel and application, even through corners there was subtle feel to enable controlled braking through the corners.
Its not only straight line stopping power that these bring to the road.
Be careful on using to much front brake as they grip and could tip you over, but this will only happen if your not smart. Try some hard braking on the straight at low speeds to get used to these and you cant go wrong.
Overall good economics and great breaking performance. At this price would not care if they lasted only a short time as it is best to ware out your pads rather than your rims. PS 1 - 5` C is cold for us in Aussie land."

"Bought a set of these after an recommendation, they are GREAT. Stopping power improved over standard Campy pads. Cool colour, no noise on braking.
Went for the salmon even though intended for dry use as I read they offer greater stopping power at reduced longevity."

"Having endured useless brake pads on my Campag quipped bikes with useless braking in the wet, together with a grinding rim damaging black gloopy paste, Kool Stop Slamons are a revelation. The braking and modulation is outstanding, they leave the rims with a lovely clean sheen and do minimal damage. They have a built in rim cleaner to remove crud and water! I cannot say how much I think people should change to Kool Stops the best upgrade I have made on any of my bikes!"

Outstanding stopping power
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, better braking in the wet, improved modulation and power in the dry, shed dirt from the grooves
Cons: wear more quickly than standard blocks.
"I replaced my standard Campagnolo brake pads with the salmon Koolstops. They perform better in rain but are still not perfect, it takes a few wheel revolutions for them to bite but then nothing is going to work instantly in the wet. However where they shine is under normal conditions: the braking is much more progressive and modulated than with standard Campag blocks and ultimately they are more powerful. The grooves shed crud much better than the standard blocks so there is no build up but because they are more sticky road dirt seems to adhere to the braking surfaces more readily and if the brakes are adjusted to a very fine tolerance can cause an annoying catching noise. They may not live as long as a pair of standard blocks but this is a small price to pay for the advantages they give. Finally as a bonus they co-ordinate with my bike colour."

Good feel, needed a trim....

"I bought these due to some other comments; I'd not changed any brake inserts before so was a bit worried. I'd got the sort with a cleft in the back into which the retaining screw fits; however, these don't have such a cleft.
I cut a small trough in the back at the right position for the retaining screw with a craft knife and they're held nicely in place. Feel great on the road."

"I bought the salmon coloured pads for wet conditions after reading good reviews. They're certainly good pads but I'm not sure if they're that different from the black dry conditions pads. Still, they look nice and I'd probably buy them again, just in case they really do perform differently - better safe than sorry. They're a pain to fit but I'm pretty sure that's the case with most pads. They last a good while, too."

"I bought the Salmon version of these inserts for some Veloce brakes. Installing was straightforward and they work fine, although I don't find them any better than the original Campag OEM inserts, if anything a little less sensitive to applied force. No problems tho', and a reasonable buy assuming they're cheaper than the OEM kit."

"Does what it says on the tin, I have to admit to being a Campag Groupie! But these replacement pads are way better than the original Campag pads, they require little bedding in, are effective don't appear to me to suffer brake fade and above all silent! they wear evenly and inspire confidence, which for me is important as I'm not a confident descender. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this product. You have to have brake pads...So make sure they are Kool Stops."

"As far as bang for your buck goes this si the cheapest and best upgrade you can make to your brakes. The salmon inserts work really well in all conditions, however the difference between these and the standard campag ones is highly noticeable in the wet. They don't show any signs of fade and don't squeal.

"Pretty sure that all pads are hard to fit, these are no exception,
Hands were very red after this experience, and table covered in talcom powder as well.
Try not to bend the pads when ramming them in as well!
