Close, but no cigar
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, Poor Fit, heavy
"Bought these plugs to "bling up" my mainly all black bike.
The quality is excellent, well made, beautifully finished, unfortunately the same cannot be said of the fit, they are very loose before the screw is tightened and only just reach the internal diameter of the bars, hence they were never going to stay put! Was able to use them by wrapping some off cuts of cork tape around them, then tightening the screw, better but not ideal.
The plugs are also quite heavy. Nice to look at but I wont be buying any more!

Throw away your plastic ones for good!
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality
Cons: could be lighter
"A quality brand name product at a great price. Does what it says it does and looks great too. Throw away your plastic ones for good!
Oversize bars could be an issue."

Solid
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Good Fit
Cons: Bulky
"Had a real problem losing my plugs (which was annoying but not devastating), then I bought these and needed worry no longer.
They're a bit on the heavy side but they do the job for which they were bought.

Strong bar end caps
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, heavy
"If your going for looks then i guess these plugs are for you. They do look great and are incredibly durable but i would say they are obviously heavier than regular plastic caps and also more expensive.
Unfortuantly they didnt fit my bike well after i had put bar ends on, leaving a small gap between them, so i haven't ended up using them. Its a shame this wasn't shown in the description.
However i'm sure i'll use them on another bike that doesnt have bar ends

Look good and stay in place
Pros: High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable
"I'm forever loosing plastic bar end plugs by hitting trees or the dirt, leaving dangerous bar ends exposed. These end plugs stay in place no problem... and look good too."

not the best
Cons: Expensive, Low Quality, Poor Fit
"used these to replace some end plugs that had fallen away. they worked ok at first but the screw soon pulled the bolt throught the rubber plug, and this caused the plug to fall out. not happy.
might work better if your bar tape is thicker or bars thinner.

Not very good
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit
"They just don't work as they should do. You cannot tighten them enough so they will always move in the end of the handlebar. I was trying to fit these bar ends to a handlebar with a 4mm wall thickness and they still would not tighten properly. They are very well constructed and look great but these bar ends are very poorly designed. This is disappointing from a company like Hope. The headset top bolt they also make is ace and works extremely well. These bar ends have been put in a bag in a cupboard and will never be used. I would have sent them back had I not basically broken them during attempts at installation."

Good plugs. Does it's job well
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Good Fit
Cons: adjustment issues
"Well, the reason I got screw on bar end plugs is that the ones that come standard with bar tape always fall off!
These stay on well, and serve their function! Simple yet effective design.
One thing of note, you have to screw the plug in your hand first. Turn the screw till the rubber bung gets squashed and you need some effort to place it into your bar end. Once it feels very secure, you can then tighten it to secure it properly."

Somewhat disappointed
"At that price, I expected it to come in the colour displayed, which was why I bought it. They were instead a deeper shape. The printed Hope decals wear off quickly.
The rubber bung system requires a fair bit of force to expand to the required size, and even then it wasn't very secure.
It is, however, structurally robust - exceeding the sturdiness of pretty much every other plug I've tried."

Adds style to your bike!
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I highly recommend this, i got the silver version for my custom Surly Long Haul Trucker build. The perfect plugs for my handlebars covered in Brooks leather bar tape.
It's all about the details, everyone asks me about them whenever they see them.
Highly recommended."

Bling finish but not bling design
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, Unadjustable, Not Enough Features, Poor Fit
"Just got these through today for use on a road bike with drop bars. Main reason for posting a review is just to say that you really need to tighten/expand the rubber grommet that comes with it first before you try putting the plug into the bar. If you don't then you won't be able to get any kind of purchase at all when trying to tighten the plugs on the bike.
What I did was first (with the plug in my hand) hold the hex nut in place with a pair of pliers and then tighten the bolt with an allen key until the rubber grommet is 'squashed' and the shape of a cherry(!). Basically just enough so that when you push the plug into the end of the bar, it *just* fits in with a bit of a squeeze (you want it so that the rubber grommet will touch the sides of the inside of the bar (see picture!).
After that you can then tighten the plugs on the bike, making sure to hold the edge of the plug in place whilst you turn the allen key. If you get it just right then the rubber grommet will have purchase on the inside of the bar end and the plug will tighten properly without the grommet spinning freely inside.
By way of review though - I'm disappointed with the design, would have expected something a bit more sophisticated by way of tightening mechanism (especially from Hope). But hey ho it's a bit of bling isn't it and once it's on it looks the business. ;)
Probably would be best suited to an MTB to be honest, though doesn't look out of place on a road bike."

Matches The Other Hope Colours
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I was hesitant to buy these bar plugs because the photo on Wiggle showed a slight colour variation from the other Hope products I purchased. I'm glad I did buy it. The colours are perfect.
In summary... durable and sexy."

Not what I expected
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit
"I had high hopes for these, but unfortunately they weren't up to fulfilling their end of the deal. After doing a solo JOGLE adventure a couple of months ago my previous bar ends decided to fall out at various places across the British Isles.
So, once I arrived back home I decided to upgrade from the normal black ones and go for a bit of colour and decided on the blue pair. They arrived well packaged and came with two different sized black tips that go around the middle of the bar plug. I guess this is to accommodate the different sizes in plug holes?
Anyway, regardless of what one I attached they didn't fit when I inserted them, and it was clear to see that once I went over the smallest bump travelling into London on my daily commute I would lose them.
In the end I applied a fair amount of double-sided tape to increase the thickness and was then able to push them into the plug hole. They seem to be doing the job fine now though."

poor design
Pros: High Quality
Cons: Expensive, Unadjustable, Poor Fit, Limited Color Choices, badly designed
"Its a pitty that Hope , with their reputation, launch a product without looking trough its design in detail.
The size is too small for the beginning, not for MTB, but the worst part is that when you adjust it , the inside nut spins loose from the body of the plug, making ti impossible to tighten it up!.
A waste of money really. Not even the colour was matched to the photo, my one was a very dark blue.
Stick to the plastic bar ends with more effective anchoring mechanisms.

You need to tighten the bolt BEFORE you insert it into the bar end otherwise it will just spin inside when you try and tighten it.
But I agree still it's a poor design from Hope. Ideally you should be able to just put the plug into the bar end and tighten it - job done - rather than instead have to think outside the box a bit and figure out that you have to pre-tighten the bolt before you put it in the bike (not intuitive at all).

Add some bling
Pros: Attractive, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive, scratches easily
"If you want to Bling your Bars, then these are the things. Look good, easy to fit and come with two different sized rubbers to fit most bars. Keeps the water out and stops your bars getting damaged. Only downside is they scratch up very easily and the aluminium is soft."
