Pretty good ... but take care
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight, esy to fit
Cons: image tends to be shaky
"I didn't really expect that a helmet mounted mirror could possibly work as well as a traditional one. Given that, I'm pretty impressed with it. It takes a while to decide exactly where to place it on your helmet, and then to fine adjust it to give best view.
The major issue I first had was the amount of vibration made it impossible to depend on the image. I have made a huge improvement here by wearing my helmet much tighter on my head. I am still not yet (after 50 miles) at the stage where I would depend on it for letting me know there is definitely nothing behind me .... but there are plenty of times when I can clearly see there definitely is a car or another cyclist behind me.
So - be realistic about expectations and I think you'll find this works for you if you cannot find a way to fit a standard mirror.
Finally ... I think I remember the fitting instructions said fit to left side of helmet. I assumed this was for continental roads so I ignored and fitted it to the right - which seems to work."

Head gear for the paranoid
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, good to see if being followed
Cons: nothing lasts for ever
"Takes a bit of time to train your brain , eye these wee mirrors, but once you have had one you will never look back. Only time I do is a life saver, rest of the time I use my helmet mirror, if your looking over your shoulder then you aint looking where your going. Come with 3 pads encase you make a pigs ear of it first time, trick is clean surfaces with ethanol let dry, use a hairdryer if in Scotland, dont contimate with skin grease and pop it on.
You have to be a bit more carefull with where you park your helmet. I get about 2 yrs out of these before something happens to it. ball and socket Joint loosens after use but can be tighten up. Must have accessory

fair trade off
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight
"Well as a helmet fitted mirror I suppose you cannot expect wonders, it does do the job. However placement I have found is crucial otherwise you end up wondering just what you are looking at and it does take some time getting adept at using it. Its real bonus is size and weight and not having yet another weight adding item to your bike."

Great for glasses-wearers, commuters...
Pros: Durable, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: Unattractive, Limited Color Choices
"I ride with one of these! And wouldn't go back. They're great if you wear glasses.
When I lost mine (leaving the helmet attached to the bike on a ferry to Ireland - the baggage handlers were gentle with the bike but must have knocked the mirror off), I bought another right away.
As a short-sighted glasses-wearer, I find it difficult to look round. Because I get a clear image through the middle of my glasses lenses - but a distorted one though the edges. So I can't turn my head and look out of the corner of my eyes like everyone else; i have to turn even more and look through the centre of the glasses. With this, you can "sweep" everything behind you with a small head movement.
There's even a hole for allen-key adjustment - you can stiffen it up if vibration is knocking it out of alignment.
I agree it suits commuter/mtb helmets - I've just recently moved mine to a new helmet. Tried installing it on the peak / visor - but this amplifies vibration, so I'll go back to mounting it on the shell.
But I've also learned to look round anyway, occasionally, as a signal to drivers, even with the mirror. Keeps me safe."

disappointment
Pros: Attractive, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Too much vibration to be of use to a cyclist. Image is too small and in wrong focus region for rapid assessment of approaching traffic. I tried it after seeing others using it - I reckon they are kidding themselves."

It is OK but better go for the Zefal Helmet Mirror
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Low Quality, Not Enough Features, Poor Fit, Poor Quality, comes of the helmet by accident, poor field of view, hard to adjust, requires to be adjusted every time
"Rear mirrors are great when you cycle in dense traffic when changing lanes and right-turns or when you cycle with other people. Being able to check what is going on behind you without turning around and loosing eye contact with what is happening in front of you is a huge benefit in itself.
I am a daily commuter to work and have to cycle under any conditions. Turning right was always quite a gamble, as I had to turn around to check if there is a large enough gap between the cars overtaking me.
As I have no room for a mirror fitted to me handlebar, I though I might give the helmet mounted versions a go.
I bought the Blackburn helmet mirror in a local shop and I have to say it seemed a bit flimsy. It did an ok job. One of the problem was that the viewing field was very restriced because it was a simple small mirror.
It gives only an indication that a car approaches from behind, but the it is a bit like looking through a keyhole.
The other problem was that sometimes the mirror came off from the base on the helmet when I tried to adjust it. Last week when I accidentially touched the mirror with my hand while I was cycling, it fell onto the road and a big lorry drove it to bits. I wonder why they made it so easy to come off.
I really felt like I need a new one to travel on the road safely.
But this time I decided to take the Zefal helmet Mirror from Wiggle (same price). I have to say it is a lot larger than the Blackburn but also superiour. I wrote a review for the Zefal.
I would recommend not to by the Blackburn but the Zefal!"

the world shakes
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Unadjustable
"I belong to the minority who like to see behind me. I have friends that say they always know what is behind them so why would they need a mirror; then cut you off accidentally.
So I need a new helmet so I thought a new helmet mirror, and this one looked good. It has two major drawbacks though. First, there is limited adjustment in the angle of the mirror. With my helmet, it was just not possible to get it right so that I don't have to turn my head to see directly behind me. Secondly, and this is the killer, the mirror vibrates. This makes it useless at night as you just get dancing lights rather than vehicles behind you.
So back to the old helmet for now. My old mirror (can't remember the brand) has a thicker mounting stalk - doesn't vibrate and I can get it just right to see that 4WD sneaking up behind me.

Could not place this
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit, Unadjustable
"Seems like a good idea - but does not fit my helmet.
I can't seem to find a spot on the helmet that I could fix this on and still see the mirror.
Might suit someone else, but not me."

Keep safe on the roads
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
"Having a mirror to see what's behind you, especially on busy roads and narrow roads is so important for your safety. Knowing when large vehicles are approaching gives you the chance to anticipate and react, especially when the wind is whistling in your ears and you can't hear vehicles approaching. You can choose a mirror on your handlebars, but in my experience these can easily be damaged. Alternatively, and very cheaply, you can have a mirror on your helmet! The Blackburn helmet mirror is cheap, simple and effective. It can unclip in an instant (I keep in it my sunglasses case). For a first time user it takes a short while to adjust and used to, but then it's invaluable for keeping you safe. Try it!"

"Bought it for travelling to France in August and also on cycling holidays so have not used it yet.
Am a bit worried about the stickers that fasten it to the helmet. Hope they last as I am sure it will get knocked off and don't know how long they will keep being restuck.

Don't bother for UK riding
"This is well made, and a reasonable idea, but it's designed to fit only on the left side of your lid. While this is fine for use in countries that drive/cycle on the right side of the road, it's no good for the UK, as you're forced to look behind your left shoulder rather than your right.
Fine for the continent, but you have to 'sweep' your head side-to-side for UK use, and by the time you've done that, you could have looked over your shoulder in the time-honoured tradition.

Looking Backwards
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: small field of view
"At its best in the dark - to give user an idea if anything coming up behind (with lights on). Does not work well in daylight as field of view is limited and does not fit well on my helmet with a peak.
Still the most durable mirror I have come across so far - but I am still looking for the right one.
