Good first computer
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Not Enough Features
"Setting this computer up for 2 bikes (and hence 2 wheel sizes) was quite tricky - the instructions don't give much away. However, mounting it onto the bike was a piece of cake. The display is easy to read in the daytime, with large numbers. It is no good at night, or early in the morning, as it is not backlit.
In the future, I will buy a better computer with more features, wireless, and backlit. But this is great value for a first computer."

Good price and reliable
Pros: Attractive, Good Fit, Great Value
"This is a great starting product. I was told that wire was more reliable then some of the cheaper wireless computers. The Cateye Mity 8 was easy to set up and use it has all the functions you require and at that price can't be beaten."

"Good functional computer. I like the manual/automatic trip time option. My only complaint is that the clock isn't part of the basic cycle-round of numbers. You have to hold down a button for two seconds to switch to it."

BETTER THAN THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONES
Pros: Attractive, Great Value
"Bought this as a replacement for a wireless one that I bought from Argos.
The clip on the old one was very weak and even the slightest knock would send it down the road which lead to its ultimate departure when it went on its final flying lesson down a dual carriageway.
The clip on the Cateye is much more substantial and the display is very clear with all that you want to know being a press of the button away.
Excellent value for money and lets face it the little bit of wire from the sensor to the unit doesn't cause that much pain.
Go by one you may as well

Works well
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Lightweight
"This computer is very easy to fix, less than 15 mins between opening the box and having it fitted. Very clear display.
I thought it had a clock but so far have not been able to find it.

Simple and straightforward
Pros: simple to use, covers the basics
Cons: more positive buttons would help
"I bought this having had two previous similar Cateye computers. This current Mity 8 has all of the basic functions - current speed, average speed, maximum speed, elapsed time, 2 trip distances, total distance, and clock. I chose this over the similar Strada as you can select either manual or automatic start/stop.
The handlebar mount is simple, although you cannot fix it to the stem. The fork mount copes fine with my carbon forks (flat one side, curved with a concave section on the other). It has moved around the fork once so far, but it may just have got a knock when the bike was parked up.
Having used two similar computers before, I knew pretty much what to expect. My only slight complaint is that the buttons are smaller than ever. The start/stop button is also made of soft-touch rubber, and it can be hard to tell if you've pressed it. In gloves this may be more of a problem, but as I got this in the spring I haven't had to test that. I prefer the big buttons on my 15-year old version (still going strong), but this version is smaller, neater, and better looking. If this one is as reliable as the old one, I'll be happy.
In short, if you just want a basic computer with no frills, this will do the job."

Pros: Great Value
"Very easy to set up.
Nice clear figures on the display for the speed but ackward to see which mode is in use.
The cable could be slightly longer, but, I am six foot two so maybe to be expected.
I have only used this computer three time so far, so not very familiar with the product.

Good things come in small packages
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: a little confusing
"One of the best purchases made for my push bike.
Being able to track speed, the time and pacing against my average speed, all at once, has actually taken 5 minutes off my 20 mile cycle route.
I would definitely recommend this cycle computer, however make sure you read the instructions... and keep them with you - it is not the most intuitive device ever and does take a little getting used to."

There are better ones
Pros: Attractive, seems accurate
Cons: Poor Quality, complicated to operate
"Had a Cateye previously, one of the more basic ones but which was great to use. Lost it on a ride so went for this one on the basis it will be similarly good. Not very impressed, hard to operate and understand. Can't work out the timer/stopwatch, the hours and minutes are fine but the numbers after that certainly aren't seconds it is counting. Just went on a ride this weekend and halfway round decided to work itself loose so spent the remaining 30miles with it spinning round the bars. When I tried to fix it the screw barrel decided to detach itself so had to do a repair job - hopefully will now keep it in place. Bit fiddly, hard to understand ans so overall a bit disappointed."

"This is my third one of these, the 2 previous ones broke (due to my negligence not the product). The upside with the dual tire option I can have it on my mountain bike as well as racer."

A Good general performer
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: difficult to fit on oversized bars
"I purchased the Cateye Mity 8 Cycle Computer after my wifes' previous computer fell off into bushes during a ride. I found this one at Wiggle as they offered trhe best price for the functions we reguired. It was very easy to fit but I could only fit it to the bars near the brake levers. This cycle computer won't fit oversized handle bars so bewarned. It has all the basic functions. Speed, AV speed, Mileage, Time lapse, Time etc... but the buttons aren't the easiest to fiddle with whilst riding. It is a snug fit when slotted on the holder and won't fall off easily. I purchased the wired version too and there is plenty of wire to fix up the forks of her Marin. Wireless versions can be somewhat more difficult to set up as the length of the signal pick up is fairly limited. It is interesting to note though that my Panoram wireless computer clocks up an extra mile over a 50 mile ride against the Mity 8. I would recommend this cycle computer for it's snug fit and ease of setup and overal cost. The cons are really only that it needs to offer a version to fit oversized bars"

Great value
Pros: Adjustable, Great Value, High Quality
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I have had many cpu's over the years. All hopelessly in accurate but i'm pleased to say that this has restored my faith. I have cycled with people who have spent hundreds on their computer and found it to be just as accurate on speed and distance (though admittedly its doesn't have as many functions as their systems). I Think it is perfect for any beginner or intermediate cyclist. A friend has the wireless version and it is just as good"

Great Computer
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"The Cateye Mity 8 Cyclocomputer is a fantastic little device. It offers every basic option you need as a beginner, or even intermediate road biker, for a small price.
The Mity 8 was extremely easy to set up, and I was up in running in right around 30 minutes. The numbers were very easy to read, and even more important, it was extremely easy to navigate while on the road.
A lot of functions; easy to control when you take some time to study the manual; weatherproof; it can be used for two different bikes, as you can program two wheel sizes in its memory."

Good purchase
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit
"Light and easy to use, for those than don't need a computer on his bike, only a velocimeter and distance measurement."
