Pros: High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight
"I had lower end Shimano clipless pedals prior to these. The 540s are much better, providing positive feedback (solid click) when engaged and easy to get in and out of with the supplied cleats. I did not need to adjust anything, just used them as is with the factory settings for cleat tightness.
The bonus is these pedals are lighter than the ones which were replaced."

Great Pedals - Couldn't be happier
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Use these pedals on my road bike so I don't have to get a different pair of shoes when on road or mountain bike.
Easy to install, I always use the default tightness to clip in and out of.
The pedals are clean and work really well. I have never had my shoes come loose by mistake, but at the same time I have never had a problem getting my feet out at the lights.
I really can't fault them. There are more expensive versions that will save grams of weight, but to be honest, I'm close to 90kgs, so 40g doesn't make much difference.
The pedals feel tough but not overly heavy and I am really happy with them."

Sorted the noises from "down there"
Pros: Great Value
"These replaced the previous clipped pedals which had become increasingly noisy. Could probably have serviced the old ones, but getting the tools, dis-assembling, cleaning, greasing and re-assembling: or just replace? At this price, you do the math...... And these come with replacement cleats."

Pedals
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile
"These pedals do the job perfectlly,I prefer this double sided mountain style for all my bikes, much easier and quicker to use and engage than the one sided road style.Easier to walk in the shoes as well. The pedals tighten up by allen key only from behind the crank which gives the axle a cleaner look"

Pedals - touch of elegance
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged
"The M-540 pedals are about 30gm lighter than the M-520, and fit using an allen key from behind the crank. So they're slightly more elegant looking, without the spanner nut on the outside. I set them to max loose with small allen key, and gave them an oil anywhere they might pivot. Worked fine on first 35km ride. The old M520s are good, and went over to a touring bike I tarted up. My carbon roadie will appreciate the 30g saving more than the touring rig. A surprising amount of weight in pedals/shoes, but not somewhere to skimp on strength with lotsa work here. SPD shoes (mtb) good when the hill demands you walk 100m."

Good choice for shorter rides
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: uncomfortable on long trips
"Very durable and well suited for mountain bikes. Can be used with road bikes (like mine) but be aware that a long trip of several hours caused severe knee pain, which I had not experienced earlier with so-called race pedals."

Good Purchase
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: some surface rust
"I have used these pedals for over a year through all types of weather conditions on the road on my commute to work. Keep them clean and oil the springs occasionally and they will last well. The tension is easy to adjust. They work very well. No real complaints, other than perhaps a little surface rust, which can be cleaned off."

Best Pedals Ever
Pros: Durable, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight
"I purchased these based on the excellent reviews and am please I did. It's my first time with this sort of pedal but I had no problem at all getting used to clipping in and out. The adjustment on both sides of the pedals makes this even safer .... dial in the weakest setting, and you'll be able to pull your shoe off the pedal (from any angle) in an emergency. As your confidence grows, dial in a stronger setting. It also makes accelerating so much easier as you can pull up as well as push down. If you're thinking about getting these, don't hesitate - they are excellent."

Perfect for road or MTB!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable
"I have a these on my mountain bike, and have been so happy, I bought them for my new road bike. I thought it was much easier if I had one pair of shoes that I use for my MTB and road bike, and of course I'm so used to the pedals anyway, why change to a new method. They are so easy so to clip in and out of, and you can adjust the tension if you like to make them easier/harder. They are double sided which is great, because I just want to be able to clip in to them, without having to spin the pedal to clip-in if they were one sided. They're a good compact size, and look great!"

Greta mid range peddle
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable
"All metal, not too heavy, solid shimano peddle. I've put these through some very nast conditions (2011 otway odyssey) with extreeme clay and mud and was still able to clip in and out 99% of the time. pretty impressive really for the price. Unsless you are looking for super lightweight these are hard to beat."

Great Pedals
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile
"Just put these pedals on a new MTB purchase. Easy to click into and out of. Because they're double sided you don't have to worry about which side is up, just put pressure onto the pedal and the cleat engages. A slight sideways twist of the foot and the cleat disengages. Easy as that. A good pedal at a great price. If you're seriously considering purchasing these pedals don't hesitate. You won't be sorry."

Great pedals
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit

Proper pedalling at last!
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality
"I'd spend an age (and a fair sum) riding in the wrong shoes and on the wrong pedals before I married these beauties with a pair of Shimano RT81 touring shoes. The effect has been exceptional. The shoes are comfortable and easy to clip in and out of the pedals. The pedals themselves are very well made and sensibly priced. What more could my feet want?!"
