stopped glass etc but sliced up my tubes!
Cons: Expensive, Unadjustable, Low Quality, Poor Fit
"bought these as was going mad with glass in my tyres. They stopped the glass but after a week or so of using them the edge of the product cut into my tubes on both tyres twice.
Buy better tyres instead!"

Protector
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"The trick with those stripes is - to fit them properly. Once You have done that(do not cut the stripes ,place the overlapping bit opposite to the valve ) put some air in. Keep with minimum pressure for a while (week or two) so the slime could get used to the new shape or position.
From my experience I can say it is a great product. I have been using it for six or seven years and it can reduce the punctures up to 90%.
I do recommend this one :)"

Pros: Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Low Quality, prone to splitting
"Hmm. Many of these liners split in cold weather causing punctures!! Kind of defeated their purpose. However I used a pair for 2 years before with no issues or punctures. If you only cycle in the mild-warm weather and want no punctures, get them, They have stopped many big rocks from puncturing my tubes. However, all year cyclists, don't bother as I found the cold weather split the plastic causing more hassle than worth.
The Slime Customer Services were amazing. Replaced 3 split liners & provided new tubes. Thumbs up to the CS Team, but produc did not seem to last in cold weather

More hassle than its worth
Cons: Expensive, Poor Fit, can cause punctures
"I bought this for using on my cyclo cross bike and although it did seem to prevent punctures through the main part of the tyre it actually caused several unrepairable puncture along the length of the inner tube by pinching the tube and causing slices approximately 4-5 inches long. So more hassle than its worth to be honest"

Adios Punctures
Pros: Durable
Cons: Expensive
"The purists don't reckon you should use this stuff, they prefer to stand by the road side in the rain putting in a new tube once a week. I disagree, because I use it & I don't get punctures. I do 150 miles a week just on the commute, in all weather on London's dodgy roads. Bit pricey I admit, but well worth it."

Hopeless kit
Pros: erm....none
Cons: Expensive, Poor Fit, Poor Quality
"Stay away from these tyre liners, I bought these over a year ago now, and after one run through the woods, they started causing problems.
Not easy to fit; it's pretty fiddly trying to get the liner in the prime position whilst getting the inner tube fitted.
They cause punctures.. The liner actually bites into the inner tube. I have tried numerous different tyre pressures, but it didn't make any difference.
I've since given up, binned the liners and bought some Specialized Armadillo tyres, which in the space of 1775miles have punctured once.

Cons: Expensive, Poor Fit
"i used these on road tyres, in fact i used the 34mm (175g/pair) mtn bike version in 700x28 road tyres to get the best fit as i have to say theyre quite difficult to fit to stop them slipping to one side and leaving the top of the tyre exposed, but with the mtn bike sized on in a road tyre, even if it slips to one side the chances are the top of the tyre will still be covered. only down side is the slightly extra weight and tyre didnt feel as supple when riding.
anyway i taped up the ends to smooth the overlapping area and over ~18 months riding (~2000 miles) in manchester, remember only getting one puncture so pretty sure it worked and the edge didnt wear down my inner tube as it was taped.
when using bikes without it i get punctures from sharp stones, glass etc. that lodge in the tyre rubber and just poke through to touch the inner tube, judging from the amount of cuts in my slime protected tyres from this sort of thing i think theyve probably prevented quite a few of this sort of puncture.
i would add i brought mine for about £10-11 2years ago and at the time thought that was expensive but now for some unknown reason theyve gone up to a rather expensive £16.
in summary i would say go with the wider mtn bike size even in a road tyre and perhaps try fitting it with double sided tape to the inside of the tyre or even 3m spray on glue."

A bugger to fit
Cons: very difficult to fit
"I am 6ft male and of atheletic build and trying to fit these and the new tyre was an absolute pain. I doubt if you are female you coul fit these unless of course you are a female bodybuilder. Not sure if they work yet as its winter and I have not been on any particularly long rides yet. I actualy bought a tyre for the front with puncture resistance instead but not tried to fit this yet so will review that in due course."

Not good for road tyres
Cons: Poor Fit
"I have used Slime Tube Protectors for several years on mountain bikes and during that time only suffered from one puncture from a thorn. On one tour with two friends, one had 12 punctures and the other had 5 to my zero - good evidence that these things actually work. However in keeping with other reviewers I destroyed two tubes on my 700x28c 120psi road wheels. The exposed overlap edge digs into the tube and causes a groove that eventually wears through. To overcome this problem I covered the exposed edge with a self adhesive patch - only time will tell if this works. It is probably best to avoid using these on high pressure road wheels and invest in some good quality puncture resistant tyres (ie. Armadillos)."

Don't bother
"Wate of time - a hawthorn went straight through.
They are a pain to install, they can't even prevent a puncture from a hawthorn, and they can actually CAUSE punctures.

Caused punctures!
Cons: doesn't work
"Installed on a bike that I use for cummuting. After installation, I suffered a series of slice-like punctures, all along the length of the tube.
Eventually I saw that all the punctures occurred at the position where the liner overlaps. These things can have really sharp edges and they were working their way into the inner tubes. I destroyed 3 tubes before finding this out. They may work for larger tyres, but I would not recommend for anything smaller than MTB tyres.
Like previous reviewers, I replace my tyres with "Kevlar" enhanced ones and I have been puncture free in over 1 year."

NO NO NO
Cons: Poor Quality, does the opposite of what it should
"I put Slime tyre liners in both front and rear tyres, cue a spate of punctures that appeared along a line of weakness in the inner tube that I hadn't noticed before. Bought some Kevlar impregnated tyres, removed the slime and hey presto, no more punctures. The slime layer had sharp sides that were cutting my inner tube, I will never use this product again and will warn off anyone considering it. Spend slightly more on your tyres and save yourself the time spent at the side of the road/cycle path fixing needless punctures."

Essential Tube Protector
Pros: Great Value, Rugged
"I have not much to say here, other than Slime Tyre Liner it is essential. I commute every day and have had several punctures.
Since putting this in I have only had one issue in several months.
Acts as a secondary barrier to items that make it through the tire.
Cheap and easy to use and best of all, has stopped the punctures on the way to work.
Makes the ride feel a bit firmer, but do not consider this an issue"

Avoid
Pros: Versatile
Cons: Poor Quality
"I thought I'd try these out this winter instead of the Panaracer Flataway Tyre Liner as they looked the real deal and were re-usable if a tyre was wrecked. They were fine at keeping punctures at bay until we hit the hard winter. I had two or three flats in quick succession over two days!! Finally I find out why. Under extreme cold (well our winter) the Slime Liner becomes brittle, cracks and then dig into the tyres causing long slit type punctures, not good and threw them away."

More problems with this product
"I purchased the product to avoid punctures in my Cyclocross bike. I did not receive any punctures when using this product, but did manage to ruin 3 inner tubes while using the product.
Installation proved to be quite tricky and it is not recommended by the instructions to cut the liner to proper length. The liner is quite thick and having it twinfold at one place created quite steep "stair". This "stair" cut groove in the inner tube eventually resulting in a cut in tube eventually making a hole in the inner tube which was not even possible to patch as it was quite long.
I will not install this product anymore and will by a outer tyre with proper puncture resistance next time."
