At last!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Good Fit
"I've used various boot mounted bike racks before, and they've all had the same problem - they all "hang" from the top straps, i.e. all the weight is on two fabric straps, meaning your pride and joy never seems that secure. Many a car journey I have constantly been looking in the rear view mirror to ensure nothing has fallen off!!!
Well, the answer to my woes, thankfully, lies in this bike rack...
The Saris Bones is different to all other racks in that the main structure is a long, thick, tubular, aluminum "spine" which sits horizontally. From this extend 5 plastic "ribs" - one extends vertically and rests against the rear window, two extend downwards and rest on the bumper, the last two extend outwards and support the bike. All of the ribs can rotate around the central spine, then engage in "teeth" to hold them in place. Each rib has large thumb screw which holds them in place, but doesn't take any "strain". Finally you have 3 long straps that pass through the aluminum tube, connecting at top, sides and base of the car boot.
So, the weight of the bikes is taken on the two lower ribs, which have pivoting rubber feet. There is no weight placed on the straps at all - they are simply there to hold the rack in position.
Another great aspect of this rack is that the cross bar of the bike (which is the part of the bike resting on the rack) is held in two rubberised straps, which do not mark or scratch. I used an inferior rack previously which scratched my bike after one journey.... thankfully the Saris does not do this.
So, in summary... very easy to use (you even get stickers to "mark" where you position the ribs.... meaning you can collapse and reassemble very quickly)... very strong ... and keeps your bike safe and sound.
If you need a 3 bike rack... get this one! If you need a 3 bike rack... get the Bones 2!""

Superb design
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Good Fit, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"Bought this product on a recommendation from a friend, and I wasn't disappointed. Fits easily to my BMW 3-series Touring. Spend 20 minutes on the initial setup to get everything in position - mark these arm/leg positions using the supplied stickers and after that you can fit it to the car in under 2 minutes ( I know i timed it!).
The design is really eye-catching ( especially as I have the yellow version) and have had a few admiring questions from others about it.
Personally, I also put pipe lagging around my bike frames as extra padding as the frame is carbon, so overall a superb product.
Pricey. but you get that little bit of design flair for the extra money, which i liked over bog standard Halfords type racks."

I would and have recommended this.
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"As a design this is a great product. It is competitively priced, looks great, is light weight, very easy to both assemble and use. It doesn't require alot of time to fit either to the vehicle or to fit bikes. Its strong and does its job very well without being fiddly like many of its competitors."

Quality rack
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: not secure when away biking
"I have had the Saris Bones for a while, they are a great product, easy to set up on the car, and are rock solid when carrying my bike.
I have had two cycles on the rack, worked well.
My only moan would be about how secure it is leaving the rack on the bike when off mountain biking as the straps are a nylon material and could possibly be cut by the sticky fingered brigade.
Overall, a great product and would recomend."

Perfect!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"Fits comfortably onto the back of a small hatchback, the feet are secure and the straps hold it in place very well. The bikes are easily and quickly loaded on and the whole thing can be set up/taken off in a matter of literally seconds."

Great Rack!
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"Had all sorts of racks in the past, but this one is more flexible than any before. Bought this for New 2011 Fiesta Zetec with elongated spoiler and it gives two installation options of over the spoiler and against the glass. Have a carried 2 bikes long distance on numerous occasions now and almost zero movement of the bikes. Highly recommend."

Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: does not hold 3 bike
"Holds the bikes well however, I wouldn't even attempt to use it for 3 road bikes never mind 3 mtb. Haven't tried it with the mountain bikes yet but I'd suggest going for the cheaper 2 bike holder as it'll do the job that this does."

Best Bike Rack PERIOD
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"I have a hatchback with a plastic roof spoiler, and I can honestly say that I have no fear of the spoiler breaking! A bit pricey comparing it to other leading brands, but then again its alike comparing apples to oranges, you just can't. Saris make quality products. If your looking for a multi-car rack, hatchback to sedan to estate to people carrier then the Bones is for you."

Impressed
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I have used this a few times since I received it and I am impressed.
Its very stable and easy enough to use.
The only bad point are the cables. Once you have put hook everything up the cables have nowhere to go so you just have to tie them up and that takes time when you want to take the rack off."

Saris Bones 3 Bike Rack
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"An excellent product which offers universal fitting for saloons, hatchbacks, estates and 4x4s which, if required, could be adjusted / folded away and stored inside the car when not being used without taking up too much space.
Quite simple to secure to the vehicle (my car being a MkV Golf) and a well designed (better looking) product over other bike racks available IMO, as well as being available in choice of bright attractive colours.
Only criticism I would make is the hooks which secure it to cars bodywork could be better designed and offer a little more protection to the vehicles bodywork without the possible risk of scratching it - I overcame this risk by positioning a few self adhesive vinyl patches where the hooks were to fixed
I am confident that should I ever change my car in the future - there is every possibility it would still fit whatever car I chose to buy next without any problem."

Making bike racks sexy...
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
"Fitted onto the back of my Audi (A6) estate with only a little faff. (There are good video instructoins on the interner) Second time on was much quicker.
I bought the pink version, which as well as being funky, sees some money go to a good cause (a breast cancer charity).
And both my wife and daughter thought it was cool. A word they rarely use in connection with my bike acquisitions....
It carried two bikes with ease all the way to France and back (round trip of c 600 miles) without so much as a squeak.
It folds up nice and tidily for storage too,
Probably worth noting that I wish i had had a number plate made up. With the bikes on it is tricky / impossible to read the rear plate, Not so good or legal."

"Fantastic fits very well on the back of a 3Series Tourer and my friends Focus . This was recommended to me by a friend with an A4 Estate and he is really pleased with his. once set up it is very quick to fit . It has 6 straps as apposed to most which have 4 but this makes a good difference. I was concened about the hooks going over the tailgate spoiler and marking it but so far so good. Its worth getting someone to hold it in place when you initialy set it up and when your happy mark it with a permanent marker and this will save you a lot of time and fiddling next time if you have to store it flat. I got the black but wish i had been a bit braver and got a different colour."

Excellent!
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile
Cons: hooks don't have padding
"I was lucky to get free shipping for this.
I am using this for my 2007 Fiat Bravo (5-door hatch). The Pink-coloured Bones matches the Red Bravo. :) Excellent build, highly adjustable & highly versatile.
Holds the bike well except for the front wheel.
Cons:
1) Nothing to hold the front wheel. I had to get a strap to prevent my front wheel from turning.
Couple of concerns:
1) The teeth at the end of the arms meeting the center aluminum bar may wear out since they are plastic.
2) The hooks are painted metal, so I'm going to put some tennis racket head protection tape on them to prevent metal-on-metal rubbing.

Very good rack
Pros: Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Great product. I didn't know if it would fit my car; a 2008 (new model) Mazda 6 Sport, estate, with rear spoiler, but it did. It remained in place with no movment and was easy to fit. We did have to buy 'hatch huggers' to replace the side straps as the side of the rear door is glass. Just a note, remember to again tighten the straps after the rack has been loaded with bikes."

Great product
Pros: Attractive, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: no padding on the metal hooks
"I have a small hatchback and found the Saris Bones reasonably easy to fit with the enclosed instructions and removal and reinstalling straight forward. Once my bike was strapped into place it appeared firm and safe. The only con I have found so far is the metal hooks that anchour the straps are powder coated without padding and as I was worried about the metal hooks scratching my paintwork I added some felt padding to them so there wouldn't be any metal surface contacts."

Great bike rack!
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons: one of the strap locks not 100%
"A great bike rack, easy to set up and use. For a contraption with so many parts it is surprisingly safe and easy to use.
The unit we received worked as described, and there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube with instructions, so anyone can use this.
The only downside is that one of the bottom strap locks comes loose quite easily while driving, and gives the impression it is not holding properly. However it's on the bottom so it's not critical, but just a minor flaw that really shouldn't exist.
Highly recommended for all bike enthusiasts. Don't get the cheap $50 knockoffs out there, I hurt myself plenty using them before I purchased the Saris bike rack, and it's worth every cent."

Get it!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"Recently drove non-stop 1600km from Melbourne to Brisbane with 3 road bikes on the back in a sports car with the stiffest suspension you are ever likely to encounter in your life and the Bones 3 didn't budge at all. Took a little while to get the right setup and positioning, but after that you don't have to touch it. Well worth the money and great for different shaped cars that traditionally are not designed to have bike racks."
