Nice Product.
Pros: Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit
"For some reason the 26" version of these mudguards have stays that are way too long. They require trimming, which can be fiddly without heavy duty bolt-cutter. If you are going to trim them, be conservative as you may need the extra clearance down the track for wider tyres.
The instructions and accompanying illustrations assume that the stays are the right size and therefore tell you to pre-assemble the mudguard before fitting to frame. In reality you need to do the opposite, and realising this can cost you an hour or so.
Anyway, if you're not keen on DIY I'd go straight to the LBS and get them to do it - it will save a lot of time and head-scratching.
As for the product, it is high quality, made in Germany for what it's worth, super-light and aesthetically pleasing, while the benefits of having mudguards don't need to be repeated here.

Excellent product.
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, understated
Cons: fidgety to fit
"These mudguards do what they're designed to do perfectly; at less than thirty quid, you couldn't ask for much more performance wise.
The only drawback is in the fitting. Other reviewers have pointed out that they're a 'bit fiddly', which is absolutely bang on the nail. In order to get these on my bike, I had to trim 1/2" from the rear stays, and 1 1/2" from the front stays to bring them within close fitting adjustment range.
The brackets that need to be fixed to the caliper bolts are angled as to be fixed to the rear of the rear caliper brace and front fork respectively, but the Shimano sunken nuts holding either brake caliper wouldn't accomodate any fixings to secure them. Instead I had to re-angle (bend 'em with pliers) and fix them to the caliper side of the rear brace and front fork.
None of this was too much of an effort but, for those who aren't the most DIY inclined, they may present a bit of bother if they were expecting something to fit straight out of the box.
Once they're on, it's a matter of two minutes to adjust them nice and close to your tyres, nip up the bolts, inspect, check your wheels for clearance, pat yourself on the back for a job well done and ignore the guffaws from your missus as she mocks your monumental pride in accomplishing such a minor task.
They do look nice and unobtrusive once they're on though. All in all, I'd recommend them to anyone. Just be prepared to improvise a little when they're being fitted and the job's a good one."

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
"After deciding to turn my Specialized SirrusHybrid into a part time tourer i needed some nice fitting mudguards which did not stand out like a sore thumb.I opted for the 35mm road version in black to match the bike and was not disapointed with the fit.The front went on like a dream and only needed slight adjustment. For the rear my bike did not have the hole to fit the sliding top bracket but it did have a threaded hole which required me drilling a hole in the guard to bolt it to the frame ( not a problem and i personally prefer it to the supplied bracket ).After fitting them i got my chance to test them because we have had nothing but rain,rain,rain....how did i ever cope without them ???? Very happy with the product and would happily buy them for any other bike i had."

The best mudguards money can buy
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Expensive
"SKS continue with subtle developments and improvements to their famous mudguards. These latest models have integral caps to cover the protuding ends of the metal stays. Much better than the old individual rudder caps which kept getting lost, although these are a little more fiddly to fit.
Despite SKS offering a wide range of sizes, I alwas find that the stays need to be trimmed a bit, and this is a job for a hacksaw rather than wire cutters.
The quality of these mudguards is unsurpassed, with a lovely gloss finish when new. The plastic is quite soft though, so beware of scratching it during fitting.

Fiddly but excellent
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: fiddly to fit
"A must have for a winter bike, and has gone straight on mine.
They are excellent quality and work very well indeed. The only downside is the fiddly fitting, although, I must point out, I win every "world's worst DIY" contest and am banned from even changing plugs ;-)
They look smart and given the choice of colour will match most bikes."

Great Mud Guards
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I bought these for my sons new hybrid bike and they fit perfectly.
They give a good coverage of the wheel to avoid getting dirty from spray off the wheel/road.
I would say that fitting them was a bit of a fiddle though. There is no mention that the supporting rods may be too long for the bike and you may have to trim them to get a good fit. This I found out to my detriment only after I had followed the instruction provided only to have do dismantle it again to trim the rods and start again.
My advice is follow the instructions in reverse order- start by attaching the guard to the brake caliper bolt and then when you see how the guard sits around the wheel, offer up the rods and then you can see if you need to trim them. I did this on the rear wheel and saved myself a lot of time and frustration that I suffered putting on the front guard.
This minor irritation aside I would thoroughly recommend this product.

The RR of mudguards
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"I replaced my wife's stolen Trek with an all white Specialized hybrid, brought it to a local bike shop to have mudguards fitted. They put on unbelievably ugly flappy black things which I immediately returned. Then I found this SKS white set on the net. Straightforward to fit with the enclosed bolts etc. BEAUTIFUL! I spend time just gazing at the bike."

As good as the reviews suggest!
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: cutting needed
"Impressed with these mudguards, they are not hard to fit you just need to be prepared to to cut the stays down to suit your bike.
Front fits fine with disc brake as well provided you don't mind some bending.
All the fittings are good quality, and I anticipate them lasting well.
Perform well in use, keeping spray down as expected, the close fit helping minimise all spray."

Good, but a fiddle to fit
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit
"I agree with the other reviewers who have highlighted the difficulties in getting these to fit well.
I had to take a hacksaw to the stays for the front guard (rear one was OK) to ensure that it sits a sensible distance above the tyre - in my case about 20mm had to be removed.
I also had problems with the nuts that attach the stay to the guard coming loose - I lost one within 5 minutes of riding. I solved the problem by replacing the original ones with the nyloc type (M6 size) that don't shake loose.
Now these modifications are completed I'm actually pretty pleased with the end result. I covered about 80 miles last weekend and the the guards worked well at keeping the spray down - just a shame that the torrential rain soaked me anyway.
In conclusion, if you're prepared to spend a little time modifying these to get them to fit your bike, you should end up with a good looking set of guards that perform well. Be warned however that if you want something which works straight out of the box with no messing, you might be disappointed."

Excellent - good fit for 27 inch wheels
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"These are very well-engineered mudguards. I got the 700x35-38 which were fine for my 27 inch wheels with 32-630 tyres. I would recommend ignoring the instructions & fit them without the strut caps first (makes it easy to cut struts to length) then re-assemble with caps. Don't assume front & back struts will be same length! - they won't be if you use the quick release clips provided for the front."

Good quality road mudguards
Pros: High Quality
Cons: tricky to fit, ineffective instructions
"As previous reviewers have said, the mudguards are quite fiddly to fit perfectly to a bike. I fitted them to a GT Ladies Traffic 2.0. The mudguards themselves do not need trimming but the wire supports probably will. It took me over an hour to get them perfect.
An easy method is to NOT put the black covers over the wire tips and keep the locking nuts loose whilst you get the mudguard in a perfect position - above the tyre equally all round. Once done, use the black cover caps to mark the wire supports where you wish to cut them. Take off one set of wires at a time, cut them to length with a hacksaw and put them back together with the black cover caps.
Voila - perfect fit.
Overall, they are good quality just time-consuming to get perfect.

A bit of a job to fit these
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Unadjustable, Poor Fit
"Nice light weight mudguards and look good once on, but what a job fitting them! After fitting them as per the instructions the metal support ends where much too long. I had to mark them, take the mudguards apart, clip the ends off, then re-assemble. So they do fit a 700cc wheel, but only after some mandraulic adjustment"

Good quality but hard to fit
Pros: Rugged
Cons: Poor Fit
"The guard itself is good quality with metal re-enforcement and is sturdy due to the solid v-stays. However, the attachments didn't fit my ridgeback velocity and I ended up drilling a hole through to bolt the rear mudguard to my frame. The V-stays were too long and needed cutting back to fit my 700c wheels. I was also left with a plethora of bolts which I couldn't use."

Nice quality kit but a pain to fit
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: patience required to fit
"These are really nice quality and once fitted look like they could have been included by the factory.
I bought the 'hybrid' size in black for my 'hybrid' commuter bike without reading the actual sizes carefully.
Turns out the width is 55mm so I could in fact have got away with the 'wide' size (which is LESS wide than 'hybrid') for my 700x35c Schwalbe Roadcruiser tyres. However, the hybrid size is fine and actually creates a pretty cool retro look.
Fitting is not difficult, but takes a bit of patience and time - you can't just stick these on in 5 minutes. As with many other reviewers I found that all of the stays had to be cut down to the right size with a hacksaw.
In summary though, these are good quality, attractive-looking mudguards and well worth the bit of effort needed to fit."

Winter hack bike
Pros: Durable, High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"Brought the 700cc size but fitted them to my project bike - converting an old MTB into winter hack bike with 26" wheels running on skinny 1 1/8 slicks. Obviously the standard fittings needed a bit of feckling to get it to fit, but all the pieces converted to size ok. Bit fiddly to pull it all together even if I hadn't needed to feckle, but ok as long as you are patient. Does what it says on the tin - keeps you (and others dry) and cut out 'face spray' so I could see again."

Very pleased with SKS mudguards
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"I bought these mudguards as I believe they are the same as the Esge mudguards fitted to my 25 year-old Raleigh Granada tourer. They have given sterling service with no problems, and still look ok..
These SKS mudguards are of high quality, and were bought to replace the cheap plastic ones on my girlfiend's Giant Hybrid.
I like the additional mudflap built in to the front guard.
Fitting was easy although the fasteners to attach the stays were a little fiddly, soon got the hang of it though.
The front stays needed trimming an inch or so, the rears I did not need to trim.
I like the emergency release feature of the front stays, these will apparently pull out should an object get stuck on the front tyre and carried up to the fork, preventing jamming the wheel and throwing you over the bars.
Finished result is very smart.

SKS Chromoplastic Road Mudguard Set
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: not straightforward to fit
"Loses a star as it's a bit of a trial to fit (instructions not that clear) however that said they look good in the black finish when installed on my Ridgeback Flight 2 (700x28c). I echo the issues of other reviewers about cutting the metal stays although I only had to do this for the front wheel - the issue is the quick release plastic bracket which forces you to reduce the length of the front stays although be aware of not reducing them too much if you have a disc on the hub as you will probably need to introduce a bend around the caliper to get a good fit and alignment. Good selection of mounting screws supplied and seem sturdy."
