Inexpensive, practical, well thought out solution
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Having read the other reviews I bought 3 of these. One kit was enough to fit out my 2010 Giant Anthem. I used the another kit on my commuter bike & have kept a spare. Fitting was straightforward. The only thing I will mention (and this is not a fault with the product) is that you may have to replace the cable inner if your cables are cut too close to the cable clamp on the deraillieur ie. when you cut off the cable end cap to re-thread the cable. Doh! As it is, this has been in use for 4 weeks and has been through rain & mud with no deterioration of shifting on either bike."

Good start but not completely waterproof
"The sealing capabilities look good on paper but I was disappointed to find when opened it up that 4 four ferrules for the derailleur/shifter ends aren't the sealed type which kind of defeats the object of this kit as water will be able to get in at these points. I've had to buy additional sealed end caps at extra cost."

A must for your winter bike
Pros: Great Value, Good Fit, low cost, keeps your cables working longer
"I am a working mechanic so am well aware of how preventing wear to components is much easier and cheaper than replacing them. This kit helps keep our cables clean and corrosion free and at the price is a no brainer for me. The kit is well thought out and for anyone who can replace a cable it is easy to fit."

What a good idea
Pros: Great Value, Versatile, Good Fit
"For something so cheap to help provide trouble free and smooth shifting in wet conditions, it is amazing. This kit combined with a new inner cable made so much difference, no more having to pull the cable out and clean it every 2 weeks after riding in wet and muddy conditions. There was enough tubing to do both deraileurs and so left over to allow for errors in cutting the length. The outer cable ends were easy to swap over as well."

Fantastic value!
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Good Fit
"I used to have to re-index my gears after nearly every ride which I now know was due to cable troubles. I cleaned the cable and installed this £3 kit. 6 months later and I've hardly had to touch the cable tension - rear derailleur cable is now always smooth and sweet.
This kit performs equally as well as the more expensive cable kits - Recommend!"

Useful Product - Does What is says
"Good simple product that does what it's supposed to do. I actually purchased this item for 2 reasons. One was to waterproof my gear cables but I also used the plastic sheathing as a useful 'guide' for installing the gear cable through my BMC downtube that doesn't have an internal cable guide. I now have a permanently installed cable guide, simple."

May prove a boon
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Used this kit for both brake and gear cables on a touring road bike. Purpose I hope is to reduce maintenance and lubrication. Whilst designed for gear cables It fits brake cables and I have had no problems with the function of gears (Campag Triple) or rear brake ( Shimano dual calliper). There is only enough tubing for the gears so for the brakes as well you need two kits. The cable ends only fit gear cables but in the event I didn't use any of them anyway"

Simple
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Good Fit
"Didn't have much in the way of instructions. I suppose it was fairly simple though in installing and now I have a little more protection against the road rubbishh that flicks up and would usually grind to a nice paste in my cable housing decreasing shifting and movement."

Great Waterproof Cable Outer
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Excellent waterproof cable outer kit. I've tried lots of much more expensive cable kits and none off them are as good as these! (don't restrict cable movement). Just fit to std Shimano outer cable and forget about it. Awesome for the price! Kit contains enough parts to do a whole bike. Recommended."

My inners are dry!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: not enough
"This was a lucky purchase and came across when I was looking around for cable outers as I was changing my frame and in the process was redoing all the gear cables.
Was quite straightforward to fit, but the only bad thing is there wasn't enough material to fully complete the front gear cable, looks like I have to buy another kit!
Hopefully this will last a long time and stop the cables getting grubby due to all the much that gets thrown on when you are commuting daily, especially in the winter!"

Great Product
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit
Cons: no cons at all
"After finding my gear cables going rusty, the time came to replace them, but, how do i stop them going rusty again ? answer... Transfil gear cable waterproof kit, easy ( if not a little fiddly) to fit, looks fantastic ( matches hydraulic brake cable, if you squint a bit ! ) and works, what more can you ask, just grease the inners before fitting and i recon they would last years, watch this space ..... well done transfil"

Easy to fit and works a treat
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Bought a set of these to protect my gear cables on my commuter bike this winter. They were easy to fit and don't hamper shifting at all. I would recommend buying some new cables at the same time. You do need 4mm outers as 5mm is too big."

Cost effective option to shield your cables
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"Bought these as an alternative to buying a Gore-Ride-on system, due to the transfil item being way cheaper. These have been used for around a month, but really the can only be judged after a winter's riding has taken (or not) taken it's toll. The items are well made and carefully fitted look like thy will do the job."

it works!
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Look, this is a low cost item and certainly not up to the qulaity of say Gore Ride-On. However, for the price the jacket is extremely easy to install and is quite effective. It works!"

Quality for less
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit
"Purchasing the Transfil Gear Cable Waterproof Kit, alongside a level entry gear/brake cable kit is just like purchasing the expensive kits as this is exactly the same as what you would get in the top quality kits. So save yourself a lot of cash and purchase these!"

Waterproof kit
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Very cost efficient way to make your gear cables more waterproof, especially where the rear tyre flicks mud and water over exposed areas at braze-ons on the seat stays. Works excellent with shimano xt cable outers..nice snug fit. Not sure how well they'll keep the water out as i'll never look inside them till I replace the cable next time..but unless I get a cable set with these parts included or a full length inner then I will continue to use these or get the same again. The grease you put inside will undoubtedly last longer and serve its purpose for longer with this sealing system, keeping my cable moving smoothly. Can't notice any drag at all..but I run an slx rear deraileur only which has a strong spring. I had a fair bit tubing left and some other bits for spares but this will depend on your cable routing. Recommended cheap upgrade."

Poor substitute
"You get a decent number of plastic ferrules and some plastic tubing and thats it. No instructions. Not really enough tubing for the whole job. Creates extra friction for the cabling. Dealing with the cable routing around the BB is a headache that highlights how pointless this kit is."
