Well thought out
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
"Bought this to go on my wifes bike as I have the child seat on mine.
It expands alot to suit even the larger family rides and all those essentials you need to take with you.
I'll probably use it for commuitting in the comming months also as it has more than enough space for the daily bits and pieces I take to work.
The quick fit rail works very well and the whole thing is well thought out with a shoulder strap and handle to make it usefull once it's off the bike.
Good product.."

Nice bag
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
"Fits onto the bracket real easy and can store a lot of kit. Only downside is the 2 side paniers do touch the wheel if it is windy or bumpy."

Topeak Pannier
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile
"These panniers are Excellent Quality the quick release system is designed to be used with the Topeak DX rack,
A rain cover is Essential as this gives extra protection in heavy rain, The panniers are robust and the side pannier can be rolled and tucked away in the side pockets when not in use, enabling use of the main compartment, this is well padded and is ideal for a camera. I think this product is all it says on the box."

first topeak product
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Capacity is smaller than it looks but this could be a blessing as the lighter the better when touring. Fits well on my mountain bike with the only problem being if you lean your butt over the back of the seat its possible to unlock the lock on device so maybe the rack that angles down would have been a better option (I got the straight one). The product appears to be well constructed and designed."

just big enough
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, quick to fit
Cons: Expensive
"i bought this trunk bag after losing my pack off the back of my rack as I descended Mont Ventoux in France. It was about 2km back down before I realised & had to cycle back up to get it. This pack is very secure & I have used it on and off road. The expandable sides are big enough to hold my laptop & all the cloths I need for work on the daily commute. Shame there isnt a rain cover that fits it with sides down but overall I have been really happy with it. Easy to use, good size & comforable to carry when you are off the bike thanks to a clip on shoulder strap."

"In short: PROS: 1)compatible with my Topeak Rack, 2)Easy to carry around for when you're not on the bike as opposed to having side pannier bags, 3)big enough for my uses (weekly shopping and laundry)
CONS: Limited waterproofing, but I use garbage bags as a liner

Met all requirements
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"The challenge was a luggage solution that I could fit all my executive clobber in, to take me the 24mile round trip into London and back. After much research I went for the MTX Trunk Bag. It fits (with careful packing) a two piece suit, shoes (size 11), tie, shirt , shoes, washing kit and towel..impressive. The slide on fitment is secure and easy to use and when off the bike doesn't look too much out of place in the office. I didn't go for maximum waterproof capabilities as putting clothes into a plastic bag first, is waterproof and makes it easy to get the clothes in and out without too much creasing. I would highley recommend this product to anyone wizzing in and out of an office on a bike. It has been well thought out and is of good quality. I bought this along with the rack which is makes it all nice, straighforward and easy to use."

practical with capacity
Pros: Great Value, Comfortable, Adjustable
"Bought this for the wife's new bike as she got sick of using an occy strap to tie down a backpack (which usually resulted in all sorts of things dangling out and making their way to the wheels).
She starts her ride to and from work in the dark and so being able to simply slide the bag onto the rack is a real bonus - no need for fiddly adjustments.
When she's in a power meeting, it holds all her suits and makeup (just) in the drop down panniers, and when she's in relax mode, she rolls them up and just uses the top box.
Its only been a month with 4 rides a week so can't really comment on its longevity but so far, so good."

Very Satisfied
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: zipper could be better
"I've been usising my trunk bag for a few months and I'm very pleased with it. Usually all my stuff - lunch, work clothes, wallet keys, phone, even bike lock - fits into the middle section. The saddle bags have been useful when I've stopped for groceries - I fit 6 loaves of sourdough and two long baguettes in once. It sits a little too close to my bicycle seat and I sometimes have to shove it to click it on. However my rack is not elevated - the product's tag has a picture of a rack that sits well above the bicycle's back wheel. I would be interested to know what type of rack Topeak reccomend and I might have bought the two in conjuction if I'd known previously. The zipper doesn't always open and close 100% smoothly but it never gets seriously stuck either. When I've worn it with the shoulder strap people tend to think its a camera bag. I don't hesitate in recommending this, it's brought me a lot of pleasure and is very good at performing its fuction."

Excellent cycle bag
Pros: Durable, High Quality, one bag does it all, easy to use even with gloves on
Cons: Expensive, need the proper topeak rack too
"Bought this to make my commute life easier to sort out. It's great.
Everything packed and ready to go in one bag which expands or contracts depending on how much you want to get in it.
I can easily get lunch, swim/shower kit, 'smalls' and a fleece jumper in the main compartment. The main part is big enough for gym kit including a pair of trainers but it would be a squeeze to get much else in - so use the ample panniers in that situation. Shoes always fill space too quickly.
One side pocket holds bike lock, spare tubes, bike bits/tools etc.
Other side pocket holds phone, keys, wallet etc with plenty of room to spare - even when the panniers are folded up out of the way within the pockets.
Clip on/off the bike is a piece of cake. BUT you do need to have the proper Topeak rack to go with it - and this makes it a more expensive option.
It's so nice to be able to unclip one bag and take everything with you rather than velcro this, buckle that and bungee the other etc etc.
Bag feels very sturdy but not heavy. The zips are smooth as silk!
Well pleased, so far - after 2 weeks use."

Well designed bag
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"Having only been commuting for a few months I was sick of sweating under the weight of a backpack. I did a lot of research before settling for this bag as I like the expandable top and the option of using panniers when needed. I also like the option of quickly removing both the bag and rack when I want to trail ride.
The bag fits the MTX rack well, locking securely into place. The interior of the bag was slightly smaller than I envisaged, due to the thickness of the bag walls. In saying that, it easily fits a lunchbox, raincoat, pump, tools, glasses case and a few extra things before the need to unzip the expandable top. I carried a pair of shoes home from work with the top extended one day!
The only negative (although my fault) is that I put a steel travel mug in the the bottle holder when I left work, and when I got home it was gone! I think it jumped out when going over a gutter. I'm sure a plastic bike bottle securely fastened with the draw string would stay in.
Overall I am very happy with the bag and rack."

excellent for the busy commuter.
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"Having bought this bag (and the rack for it) I am kicking myself for not having done so a long time ago. The configuration is perfect for the commuting multisporter who carries different kit on different days."

Very Versatile
Pros: High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"This bag is really easy to use and versatile. If you want a small bag then you have one. As you need more room you simply unzip bits and you get a bigger bag.
I cycle home and pick my three children up from school and we then walk home. The kids have always got lots of stuff to take home from school. I just unzip the panniers and start to fill them. I could do this with normal panniers but they would be flapping about empty on my journey home.
The only down side is the cost. I do think it is a little expensive for what it is. This said, I would recommend it to anybody who is willing to pay a little extra."

Great versatile bag
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"The bag is really neat. The side pockets hold enough for our needs (first aid, chips, fly-spray, sun cream, wet weather tops, dolls, etc) for a family of four. And enough room to add sandwiches and fruit! Very happy! And highly recommend."

Top bag for short touring
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile
"I've bought other Topeak bags and as with the others the quality of the product is good. This bag is ideal for touring, detaches easily and is quite portable. One small criticism - why can't Topeak have a single width for all bags and racks so all products are interchangeable."

Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I have been using this bag for a couple of weeks now and it is brilliant. An absolute back saver and no more sweaty backs either on those 30km commutes to work. Love it. If you have a light day, ie. lunch, socks and jocks, then no need for the panniers, but when you do have the extra books or paperwork to take in, then open up the volumenous side panniers. There are of course bigger panniers out there, but these really suit my commute to work. They aren't water proof which is a downer (there is an optional cover you can buy), but they have many little compartments, water bottleholder, options for lights, (I just attached my Planet bike Superflash light on the back tab), bungee cord top for stuffing items for quick access, a carry handle, mesh pocket for iPhone stashing and a zipper to extend the top size when there's a little more to load in. It does rattle a little, but due its location, you don't hear it as much. Overall, a very good quality unit."

Top Topeak product
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Great piece of kit, excellent quality, plenty of room for an overnight or 2 if you travel light.
The locking system with the Topeak beam rack is great, secure, realyy easy to remove/engage, very robust.
I have used it to cycle to duathlons carrying trainers, spare clothes and food.
Quite expensive but you are buying Topeak quality which from experience is top stuff."

Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DX with Side Panniers
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: previous feature removed
"This is the 3rd Topeak bag of this model I have owned. Unfortunately the design has been changed a little on the latest model and not for the better. Previous models had a zippered compartment which formed part of the lid which was extremely suitable for holding items such as rain covers, raincoat and lights. These are item which are generally used infrequently. The new model does not have this compartment which means these items have to be stored in the main compartment leaving less room for everyday carry space"
