Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, probably the last post you'll ever need to buy!
Cons: Expensive, Limited Color Choices
"The Thomson Masterpiece seat post is exactly that: a masterpiece.
It's not going to blow you away with it's techno-wizardry (but hey, it's a seat-post, what did you expect?), but it is going to be:
1. Easy to install.
2. Suitable for a wide variety of riding styles and riders.
3. Ever-lasting.
4. Downright sexy.
First up, it's easy to install. As it should be - it's just one tube into a slightly bigger tube after all!
It was a simple mater of grease the post up to the maximum insertion point, slide it into the seat tube, tighten the seat clamp to the recommended torque setting. Done. I used a torque wrench to fit the post and the seat, I recommend anyone interested in not destroying their gear do the same.
The seat clamp area is, to put it simply, a fiddly affair. But all two bolt seat clamps when used with carbon railed seats are fiddly as you have to completely undo the entire assembly to fit them to the seats. Once that minor bit of difficulty is over, adjustment is a fairly simple matter of tensioning the front bolt while slacking off the rear, find the spot you like your seat to be, then tighten the rear bolt to the recommended 5.1nm of torque and you're away. You won't even need to touch the front bolt as it'll be exactly 5.1nm without any further tightening (such is the nature of two bolt systems). Be away not to tighten the front so much that the top plate and bottom plate of the seat mount assembly compress at the front - this will just cause weaknesses in other areas).
I'm using the set-back post on a road frame. It's light at a true 191 grams (yes, I weighed it) and as strong as I require. It's rated for downhill riding and I've seen plenty of these on higher end mountain bikes, so I don't doubt the veracity of the claim.
Some stats: I'm 6 foot 6 inches and weigh in at 89 kilos (apologies for the mix of imperial and metric), I ride road and do about 200 kilometers in an average week. I prefer high-end hardware and don't mind paying for it. The seat post is being used with a Selle Italia Kit Carbonio Flow saddle. An interesting point for those looking for a seat post that is made to take oval/over-sized carbon railed seats - the Thomson states very clearly in the included instructions that it is MADE TO FIT STANDARD 7MM RAILED SEATS ONLY. Which was a bit of a surprise as every other bit of information available online told me otherwise.
With a little bit of squeezing you can make this particular seat fit and fit well, I think Thomson are just covering themselves from a legal point of view in case something goes very wrong with your carbon rails!
The post rides well, damps down vibration from the frame without taking away too much road feel. Build quality is top notch as is presentation and finish (the post even ships to you in it's own draw-string bag!).
In summary: buy this post if you value strength, light weight and quality. Don't buy this post if you're looking for brand name recognition from the cafe crowd (real cyclists will know and respect the name though)."

Light and strong
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"I've had a masterpiece on my MotoLite for 15 months and while I'm not into big jumps or drops (and only weigh 65kg) this post has taken the rigours of water bars, roots and rocks on xc rides in it's stride. It's not cheap, but quality costs."

Awesome seatpost!!!
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"This is seriously light for an ultra-durable seatpost. I don't for a minute regret buying this awesome post. There are horizontal grooves along the post which helps with grip. I don't see how this post will not solve any slippage issues."

Nice Post
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"This is a beautifully made seat post. I do not think you will find a better alloy seat post at any price. The seat post appears to have been CNC machined from a billet and is not just 'bent' from a regular bit of metal tube. I have the seat post with 'set-back', and you can see that the 'bend' is created as part of the CNC machining process. The seat mount is easy to use and has all the adjustability you will need. Nice stuff - buy the matching handlebar stem as well!"

Stunning
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"Having only started cycling seriously this year, a friend recommended Thomson kit and I can now see why.
I've equipped both bikes with Masterpiece seatposts - they look good, are excellent quality and I trust them.
Combined with the road stems, they make a very nice addition to any bike."

Still the benchmark
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, design classic
"Without doubt Thomson seatposts remain the standard by which all others are measured. The Masterpiece raises the bar further still by reducing weight through exceptional engineering, the 240mm version weighs in at a feathery 154 grams but loses nothing in strength and integrity.
The usual Thomson hallmarks are retained when it comes to set up with finite adjustment available from the double bolt clamp and of course visually its a design classic guaranteed to enhance the look of any bike.
In a nutshell when you buy a Masterpiece it is very much a case of less is more.

Best aluminium seatpost ever
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"This seatpost is strong, lightwight and has the best seat-adjusting system ever.
Only the price is a bit too high from my point of view. Nevertheless, if you think about using this post for years, what you definitely can do due to the high quality, it is a bargain. The cheaper only slightly heavier version is the Thomson elite post which also a great deal.
"
