Good design and quality of manufacture
Pros: Adjustable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, easy to use and carry
Cons: no instructions for use
"A first rate product.
My requirement is to carry a multitude of small items (e.g. supermarket shopping) between home and the local hospital.
The ease of fitting and removal of the bags and their capacity commends the suitability of the product for the task.
My only criticism is that I found not having any written guidelines as to how to optimise the fitting of the straps a minor irratation, but after a few minutes consideration all appeared clear."

Sensational quality & value
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
"I am so impressed by these panniers for the money. I live in tropical Australia and bought these in the middle of the Wet season - we have 1.7 metres of rain in 3 months - these are not 100% waterproof but they are about 99% and better than any other pannier I have used before.
These carry so much and are so user friendly with extra little pockets etc and the value is nothing short of amazing.
Buy a pair you will love them..

Pros: Good Fit, Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: Unattractive
"This is such a good piece of kit. Cheap and functional. You will not win any style awards but is does exactly what you need it to. Each pannier has a small front pocket and a larger main cavity. they clip onto your rack with an elasticated hook.
I would call them water-resistant. I've been in a couple of downpours without damaging the contents of the bags.
I've had them for 6 months and they are not fraying yet with moderate use.
The only negative is the lack of reflective trim."

Very Solid Buy
Pros: Great Value, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Unadjustable, Unattractive, Limited Color Choices, no shoulder strap
"Pros would be that they are solid, capacious and excellent value. They fit on my Tubus Fly (a rack so small and light, I thought anything mounted on it it would foul my heels before I'd even moved) with no adjustment necessary.
There are cons. There is no shoulder strap. I don't know why manufacturers of these things make them without shoulder straps. Deuter don't. I should write a letter.
The attachment is pretty low-tech, which was great when I cycled to DHL to pick them up and could throw them straight on the rack without using an allen key. They attach via two hooks at the top, with no fancy locking mechanism, and an elasticated hook at the bottom, which puts traction on the top hooks, keeping them secure. The bottom hook takes a bit of fiddling to take off the bike at the other end, which is a mild irritation. I previously had an Altura pannier that came off with the push of a button, which was a better system, although needed a very small amount of adjustment to mount the first time.
In all, I think these are great for touring, and super value, but there are better options if you want something for commuting that can double as a shoulder bag."

VERY GOOD PANNIERS - GREAT VALUE!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"These are excellent panniers for the price. They are made from sturdy, hard wearing material and are very secure once mounted.
I have found them to be nigh on waterproof too.
Highly recommended!

Cons: Not Enough Features
""Pannier" comes from the same French word as "Panini" - originally, panniers were used to transport bread around France.
I have transported bread in the panniers. I have also transported bacon, bruschetta, baked beans, brie and beer. 12 bottles of beer. When I transported 12 bottles of beer, I sounded like a milk float.
These panniers are very good for transporting numerous items. Their size is surprisingly capacious, and I've managed to get a few days' worth of clothes and camping equipment in them. They connect together via a handy strap, which also secures anything you've got on the top of the pannier rack.
I really like the way they fit, with a lower adjustable elasticated hook and two upper hooks. I've used them on two different racks and they stay nice and solid, despite the beer jigglage.
They are a bit of a nightmare to carry when they're off the bike, though. When I say 'nightmare' I mean a vaguely unpleasant dream, not some sort of sleep paralysis thing. Maybe a dream where you have to carry these panniers around with you for an extended period, possibly an hour or longer. I've seen other panniers that come with a strap so you can sling them over your shoulder, which would come in handy here, but isn't provided.
The panniers also seem quite waterproof. I've been in the occasional downpour and they've let a little water in, but it's nothing compared to the scale of being stuck on the lower decks of the Titanic with a bag made of lint. I treated them with - and to - a little waterproofing aerosol designed for shoes, and it seems to have kept a lot of water out. Which is good.
Most importantly, though, is there ability to carry bread - their original intended purpose. And they do carry bread quite nicely. I'd recommend sticking to a harder, more rotund bread type, maybe tiger bread or a boule. A loaf of Hovis or Kingsmill may get a little squashed. You definitely couldn't fit a baton in there, it would be too big and would poke out of the top. If you're OK with it poking out of the top then that's fine, but personally I'd stick with smaller bread types. Maybe you could buy two baguettes instead, they'd probably be about the same size. I'd imagine that they cost a little more, but that could be justified by the fact that you've spent a little less on the panniers themselves."

Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
"I have my Deuter Rack-Pack-I since 2005 and always attached on my bike till today (2012). Had been in long distance tours 6 times. Along Pacific Coastal Way - California, Oregon and Washington. All around Costa Rica. Jamaica. Singapore up to Thailand. Vietnam tour Mostly over a month trips. Also I use it for my daily life. Shopping, work etc. No problem at all. Well, I travel light mostly. I don't carry stones or bricks in it...haha.
But still...this panniers is solid rock!!!
It's also inexpensive. Just the color is a bit faded right now.

Better than newer version
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: could use more pockets
"I got these on closeout for half the price of the newer version. I don't like the newer version because the lower attachment is fixed in location and not quite as adjustable as the strap in the old version. I use these panniers on several bikes and it's not always easy finding a location to attach the lower fixture."

Great Value
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable
"These paniers come in a pair, so they are great value for money. They are a good size to pack gear for the work commute and were easy to affix to the rear rack. Did not move at all while riding for 1 hour+ each way."

Compact and light
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Adjustable, Lightweight
"I had the dhb as my first trial with the panniers. They were big and could carry a lot. However they were also like a wind sox, great with wind but tough into it. These ones are smaller and more compact than even the picture. However they are better quality, relatively a very good price and ideal for carrying the lunch, bike lock and iPad to work. Very neat"

Deuter Rack Pack Uni Pannier
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Good Fit, decent value
Cons: could do with a couple of small external pockets
"The bags are relatively spacious, fit well and seem well made although i have only used them for a couple of trips.
Also they weren't too expensive and look reasonably good (as far as panniers go)

Two bags, great price !
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Belive the other reviews - this is top kit at a great price. Sure, there are cheaper paniers out there, but go for these. Good quality, good looking panniers, easy to fit and stay very secure, even on bumpy rides ! Top section has a zip pocket, wide enough for short pump, keys and puncture kit, leaving plenty of room for jacket, shoes etc. in main bag. Ideal for daily commuting - lots of capacity and you get two bags for the price !"

Better than expected
Pros: Rugged, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: only lacks a safety strap
"Always nice to be surprised - I didn't think the attachment system (elasticated straps and hooks) would be as good as on the AGU I was using before, which had adjustable plastic brackets on rails. It turns out that the Deuter actually works really well for the quick load/unload routine that's so important for commuting (I only use one side).
Only negative is there's no extra safety to prevent the bag jumping off over speed humps etc; however I quickly adapted this by adding a plastic buckle to the existing strap. All now secure.
Waterproofing not tried in anger yet but it looks good and the pockets are well thought out. For a good quality pair this is a proper bargain when discounted."

Very Good
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"A superb set of panniers, just back from a week on Orkney cycling and they were durable, flexible (especially getting on and off the trains) and a very suitable size for touring, not too small, not too big and great value for money. I am very happy with my purchase and work recommend them to anyone!"
