Useful bit of kit, works well.
Pros: Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality
"This was bought to put on my other bike, so i can just transfer the Ortleib barbag easily. It is easy to put on, took only a few minutes, instructions are clear, it locks the barbag on so it won't fly off accidentally. Good value I thought."

Carbon bar mounts
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit, lockable
Cons: not told prior about fitment to carbon bars
"This mounting states that it should not be used on carbon fibre handlebars, presumably because it has extremely high stress loads under the wire cords used to secure the mount to the bars.
I have taken this consideration into account as I wish to use my bag for carrying my SLR digital camera, especially on holidays.
I have used portions of wide hose clamps, wrapping them around the bars and being careful to make sure the wire cords have their load placed across the clamps and not on the carbon.
This has worked very well.
Make sure you don't have a carbon only stem and I can recommend them very highly."

Great product
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I have one of these on both my bikes makes swapping my classic handlebar bag between bikes a breeze. Fitting was easy, instructions clear and concise. The fixing wire is really secure and I can see why this is not suitable for carbon bars."

Unusual, but effective
Pros: High Quality, Good Fit
"The mountain mechanism from Ortlieb is a strange wound metal cable rather than a fixed bracket, but it seems to work very effectively none the less. The only downside is that it looks designed to install on one bike and forget it, never to move. The fixing mechanism is based on tightly screwing onto the cable (sort of like how the wires in a plug are held in place) and it doesn't take a lot of working out to see that the cable would be damaged if you were to keep taking it off and putting it on again. Easy to install and adjust to the right position, then tighten and forget."

My barbag now costs 30 quid per bike - result! ;)
Pros: Durable, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"This means I can use my Ortlieb barbag on two bags, which makes it seem like a better deal. I got the map holder too, to make it more useful. I initially used the bag on my tourer, but now I can put it on my fixie too. I was toying with the idea of a saddlebag, but figured this would be better as it keeps the weight forward, so it won't impede lifting the rear wheel to adjust the pedal position. I'll be trying it out properly on the Dunwich Dynamo - a 120 mile night ride, but having used the bag before, I don't doubt it will be up to standard.
Fitting was a doddle, as before - just make sure you make it as tight as possible.
One qualm - the lock and key - WHY? Still, 5/5 for the product."

Quality, but a shame it's necessary
Pros: High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"As with all Ortlieb products, these mounting brackets share the same great quality and construction.
Fitting is a simple affair, and the cable holds your bag securely with no movement at all once it's all tightened up.
However... my only gripe is that I had to buy a new one of these at all. After removing my original mount and subsequently refitting, the cable was chewed to pieces and I had to destroy the mount to get it all apart again (I was probably being a bit heavy handed too). For anyone looking at the Ortlieb bar bags, it is probably worth noting that this is designed to be fitted once and left alone. As a spare for a second bike it's perfect."

Superb product
Pros: Adjustable, Good Fit
"i originally had the older fitting, which i found moved gradually over time and eventually the bolt started to turn and wouldnt lock tight. I decided to purchase this and ortlieb have taken something simple and made it work superb. Once threaded through and locked tight, its nigh on impossibe to budge. If your removing and refitting the cable often, it becomes chewed very quickly. The best idea is to buy a spare Thorn accessory bar and attatch and swap bar over as needed. The lockable key is not needed as even if someone couldnt remove the bar bag they'd just riffle the contents. Get one you wont be disappointed"

Ortlieb Mounting Set For Ultimate 2-5 Bar Bags
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Lightweight, Versatile
"An excellent set up that allows you to transfer Ortlieb Bar bags between bikes. Fits most handlebars. Enabled me to use the bar bag on my different bikes and the simple click-off the attachment allows quick bag removal. The locking device with key prevents quick removal of the bar bag by others."

Pros: Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Unadjustable
"This is a very clever system, the way that it is held so strongly by just a thin cable. There are no clamps or brackets just a cable that does a kind of figure of eight around your bars and stem. You feed it through and then tighten it up. This means that it clutters up less of your handlebars. It is probably lighter too and it is incredibly strong. It is just a satisfying bit of engineering. I am not a massive Ortleib fan. Allot of their stuff gives me the creeps, but this is cool. My only criticism would be that you have no choice of angle. because of the way the cable works it can only go at 180 to your stem."

Rock-solid Ortlieb
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, High Quality
"A big pro for an Ortlieb bar bag is the ready availability of additional brackets if you have more than one bike. The latest one comes complete with a lock, though why you'd want to leave the bag on the bike for long is a mystery. It doesn't lock the contents, just the bag.
The bracket (for the Ultimate 2-5 bag) continues the tradition of winding a cable around the bars and through a series of holes in the bracket to be tightened with a bolt and Allen key (all provided). It works a bit like a garotte. The instructions are detailed and, even if like me you are all fingers and thumbs, you get there eventually, though cutting the excess cable off is a bit of a trial unless you have the right tool. I used a junior hacksaw in the end, but it worked.
The result is a rock-solid bracket - you could launch a missile from it - the angle of which can be adjusted to give more room for other bits on your bars (or, indeed, to angle your missile)."

Best Bar Bag
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
"The quick release feature is excellent and this is real quality - easy to attach and take off bag which means you are more likely to use it. The fit is real solid once attached. I have taking the fixing on and off about 4 times due to a change in handlebars / stems and the only thing is the cable becomes more difficult to thread through the more times the fixing is removed. Not an issue as most people attach it and forget it !. Great quality product"
