Entry level Eggbeater
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
"This is the entry level eggbeater (i bought it for my secondary bike). If you look at the details is not the same thing as the SL. Still, by all means, it's ligher, stiffer, and much, much better in muddy conditions than any shimano type pedal. I've been using eggbeaters since they first showed up and I've never considered going back to any other type of pedals."

Egg Beaters (Pedals)
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, Rugged, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Looks good, Works well as you can clip in at any point. As with any 'clip in'
its not great off road because you just cant get your foot out quick enough!
Good price too, if you have had 'clip in' before, try these"

Love these pedals
Pros: Great Value, Attractive
"Easy to clip on and off, look cool and are great value.
My wife (more a runner than a cyclist) could not get on with her Shimano's, finding them difficult to clip on/off, so I got her these too which she much prefers.
I will be tempted to upgrade to more expensive models when I stop spending cash on other cycling bits and pieces.

They never fail to release
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: rocks will damage them
"My last pair of Candy-C pedals wore out and so I temporarily used some Shimano SPDs. Two rides later they didn't release when my front wheel washed out in a corner and I ended up with 3 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. So now I've put back on new Crank Brothers pedals. They ALWAYS release, are light, and reliable. Previously I used the Candy-C pedals. My only complaint with them is that the plastic housing extends to the outer part of the pedal, at the opposite end to the threads, and they break on rocks. I hope the Egg Beaters are stronger. Other than that the Candy-C pedals were excellent, and I expect the Egg Beaters will be too. They are lightweight for the price."

"Crank Bros seem to have a bit of a reputation of being made of cheese but I have three pairs with the first going well after 3 years of zero maintenance. I run these on a commuting bike and have had no problems but if you're new to clipless, might want to pick something with a bit of support in case you miss the clip-in."

Think twice if you're a roadie
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
"I know these are MTB pedals but a lot of guys from work recommended them for road biking too so I thought I'd give them a go. Absolutely no complaints at all once you're clipped in, the pedals work well and there's little chance of accidentally unclipping. The problem I have is trying to use road shoes with them as it can be a little trickly to locate the cleat with flat bottomed road shoes. It gets easier with time but I do struggle sometimes when getting away from traffic lights. Once you find the cleat there's a reassuring 'clunk' and it's all plain sailing from there. Just think twice if you intend to use these with a pair of road shoes."

Best Purchase Ever
Pros: Comfortable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"These are my first pair of clipless pedals and they do a great job. They are easy to clip into once you get use to them. One minor point is that there is no audible clip when you clip in. Other then that they are great and I would highly recommend them."

Great Pedals
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Unadjustable
"I've used SPDs for years and switched to these a couple of years back. Performance is very good, they clear mud better than anything else. The cleats don't seem to protrude as much as Shimanos (making them easier to walk in). They seem very durable and have taken all the abuse I can throw at them!
Minor drawbacks are:
They are not as adjustable as Shimano SPDs, you only have 2 release settings depending which way you have the cleats.
And it is quite vague when you release, with Shimano you feel the float limit then twist a little further to release, with these you can't feel the limit between float and release.
You also need to ensure your shoes have pretty rigid soles otherwise you will fel the pedals through them, not a problem for decent shoes.
Overall they are excellent pedals and highly recommended."

Superb pedals
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight
"I previously used SPD-SL pedals, a nightmare if an emergency stop was needed, these are brilliant in comparison. Easy to clip into, firm hold when clipped yet easy to release from. They look pretty cool too :-)
I am buying another bike soon, and a set of these will be the first addition to it.
Lots of pros and, as yet, no real cons found.
One word of caution, a friend recently bought a set of these pedals, a week after I bought mine, and for some reason the design has changed, an allen key is the only option for fitting and the L and R markers have been removed. Mine have the option to use a pedal spanner, and the L/R markers are present. I wouldn't let this change stop me buying these again."

Pros: Attractive, Durable, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: cleat spacers
"Previously I have always ridden with SPD's but bought these after reading oodles of complimentary reviews. Must say I don't find them as easy to engage as I'd thought but that may be down to my shoes. Once clipped in they provide a good positive feel and I haven't had any accidental unclipping moments. Easy to disengage and good at transferring power to the trail. A classily packaged product with spare cleat bolts and the oppurtunity to rebuild the pedals as and when required. Theres no doubting they look the nuts and certainly seem well built.
A little niggle is the cleat spacers provided to lift the cleats slightly proud of the sole of the shoe. These are made of flimsy plastic and seemed to bend without giving the extra clearance needed, metal spacers would be much better for this job. In defence the instructions do state that some shoes may require a slight trimming of the tread for optimum fit and engagement.

Visually stunning but average performance
Cons: Not Enough Features, Poor Fit
"Read this review if you fancy adding these visually stunning pedals to your road (not mountain bike).
If like me use your road bike daily you might also have a need to walk around in your cycling shoes when not cycling.
So your choices are usually SPD pedals and cleats.
Crank brothers provide an attractive alternative and we bought these as a test. In reality (compared with SPD)
Looks better than SPD
Cleat is smaller than SPD and looks better
The pedals are slightly longer than my Shimano XTR SPD pedals and there is no HORIZONTAL adjustment of the cleat. Therfore my feet are over 5mm further out on each side.
Another disadvantage is that there is no mechanism to regulate tightness of the lock unlock (You can swap the cleats from left to right and this changes between two sets of release angles narrow and wide). But it is still no match for SPD
Whilst pedaling it felt less direct than SPD
So overall, I just love the look of the pedal, but in real life the Shimano XTR SPD pedal beats this for functionality, configuration and adjustability
I scanned in the manual here
http://maben.homeip.net/static/blogdocs/Crank%20brothers%20eggbeater.pdf
(The manual is far superior to the Shimano XTR pedal, so it is a real shame that the pedals performance is below par)"

Happy with that
Pros: Attractive, Great Value, Lightweight, simple
"Simple pedal with out any messing around so no float to change or anything.
Can clip in from any of the four sides, can adjust the taughtness of the release by differing the installation of the cleats.
Light weight, good looking and easy to use. Im hapy with that."

Great Pedal
Pros: Attractive, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I was unsure about making the transition from flats to clip-in as I have seem friends struggling with them and falling on rough terrain but thought I'd better give them a shot. After reading some reviews I went with crank bros as they seemed to be more MTB and mud friendly.
Getting clipped in took some getting used to but this was made easier by adding the shims to my shoes. I've now covered about 100miles with them and no turning back, they're fantastic. I find upclipping much easier than I thought it would be and can even unclip quick enough to get a foot down in an emergency. I've seen friends with other systems fail to manage this. They also still work really well when covered in mud.
I still prefer flats for jumping, very technical trails and casual use but for XC and light trail these are perfect.

They work well
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"So they're not the lightest eggbeaters but they are still a lot lighter than many other pedals out there. They look nice ... although I was a little misled by the photos and thought the metal on the outer pedal was much darker than it actually is.
No complaints yet. My feet feel stable when in the pedals and there are no problems releasing when I need to get out. Overall I'd say they are very good pedals."
