Pros: Durable, Great Value, perfect suspension correction
"I got this fork to replace my old rock shox Judy c suspension forks. They are heavy but not as heavy as the ones i took off and they should last about 100 to about 150 years. The suspension correction is spot on
for my year 2000 Specialized Rock-hopper comp.
No more unnecessary bobbing up and down for me now.
worth every Penney.
Shipping was free and super fast
I will shop again with Wiggle.

Solid fork
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Bought to give me 'Fat' tyre clearance for the snow but I'm keeping it on because of the improved tracking and low maintenance for my everyday ride. I just need a QR Suspension Fork(!) and I'm sorted for the weekend trails."

Surly Rocks
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged
Cons: crown race hard to fit
"I bought this to replace the 10-year old Rockshox Judy C on my Spesh Rockhopper to turn it into a commuter. Although the Instigator is not the lightest fork on the market, it is lighter than the underspec'ed piece of junk that was on the bike previously, and I was happy to sacrifice a little weight for such evident robustness.
Fitting was pretty much as expected: once I had cut the steerer down, getting the crown race to seat fully (it is tight) required a little banging and cursing, so be prepared for that and consider obtaining some sort of proper tool to help with the job. Lining up the disk brakes also took a while and I didn't think it was going to work, and then I suddenly got the caliper in the right place where it functions perfectly without rubbing.
I bought a pair of Marzocchi grommets (not sold by Wiggle) to block the holes left by removal of the redundant rim-brake mounts. With the stems wrapped in insulation tape, they are wedged in the holes and complete the look. This is just cosmetic, though.
I have only done a couple of on-road commutes on these, but initial impressions are that they are very solid. Without the bounce, it feels as though application of power and climbing are more effective. I do not ride off-road, but I am sure that they would perform excellently to give an old-school fully rigid experience.
Highly recommended and at a reasonable price."

Forktastic!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged
"The instigator is a heavy fork. It weighs well over 1 kg - around 1300 grams. That's heavy in the age of under-one-kilo-carbon frames. On the other hand it's still lighter than the lightest racing suspension fork out there. Depends how you look at it. But ask yourself: Do I need a suspension fork? If yes, don't buy it. If no or even maybe not, then buy this fantastic, sturdy and pretty piece of metal and give your bike razor sharp steering and superb feedback. But I'm using my (heavily modified) Felt Q900 mostly for commuting, and besides - Denmark is mostly flat and muddy, so I can just change the tyres and work a little harder when I go off road. You know what your needs are, but to keep it in perspective: 15 or 20 years ago, a lot of MTB riders chose not to use suspension to stay in contact with the ground. And it's always better to have no suspension rather than bad suspension. Picture yourself uphill swooshing by those pansies with their soft front ends..! Anyway, as another reviewer said: This is the best modification I have ever made on a bike. The bike is more fast, precise and lighter. Which is good if you're a roadie who likes to get a little dirty on the weekends like me."

Solid quality
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
"Having recently trashed my old front forks after a bit of excessive abuse, I thought the time had come to go 'old skool' and have a go at going back to rigid forks. These forks inspired confidence from the moment I unwrapped them, and so far they are proving to be great value for money. They are as solid as they look, which translates into great control and feel. Hopefully I'll soon learn not to smack into curbs as I used to with the old ones..."

Excellent quality
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Good Fit
"Very sturdy, looks well made (welds, paint). Has transformed my hardtail. Will recommend it to anyone building an everyday bike for commuting. Fork is on the heavy side but that is what makes it bulletproof"

"A good looking tough fork. Loads of mud clearance. Only downside is that its rather heavy - but I knew that before I bought it. Fitted to an Instigator with wide rims and fat tyres so comfort not a problem for me."

Rouse the retro in you
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"To Instigate, to bring about, as by incitement, to instigate rebellion.
Cheap suspension has long been the scurge of the entry to mid-range bike. I know your pain. Do yourself a favour and return to those heady days before cheap elastomers and clunking rebound. the instigator is by far and away the best upgrade I have ever given a bike. The bike is transformed from a heavy, leaden, understeering beast to a lively, light and engaging ride. The quality of the finish is supurb with both rim and disc brakes catered for and a rather elegant sheen to the paintwork.
Best of all it says 'Surly' down both legs which, as my wife put it, for it sits proudly on her bike, perfectly sums up her attitude to commuting.
Don't think about it, join the rebellion, you will not regret purchasing this fork.
