Don't use at night or near timing mats
Cons: Poor Fit, daytime only
"As far as supplying information, this is usually a good piece of kit.
However, once it gets dark and you mount this device anywhere near a decent set of lights it becomes nothing more than a clock, unless of course I commuted at 56mph average since it started to get dark.
The same happens if it spends any time near a timing mat.
If it is to be used for 'normal' daytime cycling then it's ok, if at night, look elsewhere."

Good, but...
Pros: Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Poor Quality
"This is my second MC1.0+; the first one lies buried somewhere in a large bramble patch (read on to find out why)!
I've used the VDO for cycle-touring in mountains and generally found the altimeter function to be accurate to ten or twenty meters over the course of a large climb. It's certainly good enough to give an excellent idea of how far there still is to climb if you don't fancy the GPS option. It is also easy to reset the displayed altitude to match a spot-height or roadside altitude sign if necessary. The gradient display seems very reliable too. The only slight downside is that the speed is only displayed to the nearest half mile or kilometer per hour, although the average is to the nearest tenth. In general I am very pleased with it.
BUT... the handlebar mounting bracket is dreadful. The computer attaches by means of pushing and twisting - it doesn't slide in and out like some other makes. It's easy to get this wrong so that it can pop out again. Worst of all, the constant twisting can make the tiny screws (holding the two parts of the mount together) come loose. I lost my first VDO when the screws came out sufficiently far for the whole lot to come off the handlebars of my road bike while riding. I then cycled over it and it bounced off the frame into acres of brambles. Unfortunately I didn't know what had happened at first so it is now lost.
When I got the next VDO, I used loctite on the screws to keep them in place. But that has rotted the plastic so that the new handlebar mount is now in two pieces as well. And guess what? I've just checked the screws on the mount on my touring bike and they're loose too.
So all in all, a good bike computer seriously let down by a very poor handlebar mount, which frankly, is rubbish."

Easy to use but not too accurate
"I have only been using this computer for a couple weeks so a longer assessment time maybe required. The pluses are that is is easy to install and feels high quality. The instructions actually make sense and are easy to follow.
Downsides ... some numbers are small and hard to read unless the light is perfect, the kph only measures in 0.5kph, the mount could be more sturdy.
The altimeter and incline functions are cool however not too accuate even after calibration - on a windy day I climbed a local hill last weekend which is 549m and the MC1.0+ showed 470m ........ still any altimeter relying on barometric pressure is at the mercy of the weather so no surprises I guess. I know this sounds a bit negative but I am generally OK with this buy.

Second time around
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Versatile
Cons: Bulky
"This was a replacement for one that was stolen off our tandem when I stupidly left it on the mount during a previous tour in France. I refitted it to the tandem for another tour in Brittany and to a new bike (since I already had a sensor and mount) - all pretty straigthforward and quick to do. With 3 separate buttons for current trip, odometer and altimeter functions it is logical in use and you get a satisfying click each time. The information is interesting - especially when I tell my stoker (wife) that we just went down a 12% gradient and hit 64kph. The actual altitude is easily reset to allow for changes in pressure either at base (home) or at the top of a hill if the altitude is known.
Tandems are fast downhill but the maximum speed reading has sometimes been optimistically high - 120kph!
Sensor is a bit bulky and care was needed when mounting on carbon forks.

excellent purchase
Pros: Adjustable, Good Fit
"The VDO MC1.0 Plus cycle computer arrived the day after placing it with Wiggle which is typical for their rapid respone. The instructions were easy to follow and I had the computer fitted in about 30 minutes. The wheel size guide was accurate and I checked my distance with a friend and we were identical.
The height and gradient data is very useful. Relying on barometric pressure which is constantly changing can mean you go out for a couple of hours and on your return your house may have decended or ascended 20 feet! However this is not a problem.
Good quality clear display with easy push buttons to change data screens"

It's....OK
Pros: Durable, Good Fit, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: can be complicated, some iffy results
"Read the reviews and decided on this instead of a GPS mainly for battery life as I wanted a good altitude device. It generally works very well but starting altitude needs altering every time and it can be a bit erratic (once registered 538mph!). Also a bit of a pain as not every function starts the same way with the same buttons.
On the whole though it is well built, generally gives good data and is ideal for what I want it to do."
