Tacx Bottle Cage Saddle Mount

It is the logical choice of triathlon and time-trialists, where aerodynamics is the key. The angle and height of the clamp are adjustable. You can have one or two bottle cages mounted. Weighs 165 grams.

Good piece of equipment
Pros: Great Value, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I bought this and the Tack bottle cage as another review had recommended to do this and it has proven to do the job admirably. I have used this at home and in the Pyrenees to carry an extra 500ml bottle as when the heat goes up the two 750ml bottles only last 2 to 21/2 hours. The only snag I have had is if I put a 750ml bottle in it it is difficult to get off the bike as it is so high... otherwise a good piece of kit!!!"

OK, but watch out for the picture
"Watch out! This product does NOT include the bottle cage, it is JUST the mounting for the cage! The picture is misleading! Other than that it is a good product, relatively easy to build and install once you figure it out (comes with no istructions at all). And solid once mounted. Carries my 500ml bottle with ease."

Good purchase
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"This was a good purchase. It met my needs because my bike doesn't have any drink bottle holders.
There is a slight issue though sometimes when I get on my bike I kick it slightly because it lengthens the bike a little.
Overall I like the product and it definitely does the trick. I also like that you have the choice of one or two drink bottle holder attachments."

poor design
Cons: Low Quality
"couldn't get the joint to stay stiff while riding... resulted in two lost bottles... most inconvenient.
I've not done so, but imagine if you want seat mounted bottles to work, you need to go up in budget slightly."

Fixings work loose
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Poor Quality, Poor Fit, bottles eject when holder works loose
"This bottle cage holder nearly does exactly what other much more expensive systems do, but it doesn't stay tight. If you tighten the bolt that sets the angle of the holder too much, the plastic just bends so you can never get it tight enough. I put a little screw in which helps, but it isn't perfect. If the bottles are fairly upright then they seem to stay in OK, but if they point backwards then you get the ejector mechanism behaviour as reported by others. No idea where my two bottles ended up, but they weren't on my bike at the end of the race!
The bracket under the saddle also works loose (and that reminds me I must check mine again before I race this weekend) and it seems a bit agricultural.
I still have this on my bike and it's great for long training rides, but the limitations are exposed when you are racing. I'm only relying on it to carry spare water now and if disaster strikes then I'll just stock up again at the next aid station."

Neat Design
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: no instructions
"I am short, so I have a small frame with room for just one water bottle. A saddle mounted water bottle carrier was therefore a must. However, finding an affordable seat mounted water botte carrier was a challenge. I am so grateful to previous reviewers and their tips. This is a great design and good quality piece of kit let down by the total lack of assembly instructions! Luckily for me, previous reviewers had pointed out the importance of placing the black plastic spacer in the 'arm', and using Tacex Tao cages which come with bolts and keep water bottles in when going over bumps. My son also gave me a useful assembly tip for those pesky little cage mounting nuts - use contact adhesive to hold them in place! So, as long as you remember to use the black spacer, and use a quality cage such as the Tao, this holder is worth 5 stars."

Bottle Rocket
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Quality, Unattractive, Low Quality
"This is a reasonable product for the $$$, however due to it having too much flex, it shoots the bottles out as soon as you hit a bump.
If you're cycling on a smooth surface, or just looking for a tricky space to zip-tie a spare tyre it will be great.
As far as an aero bottle cage goes.... should've spent the extra cash and bought an XLAB.

badly made, does not work, missing parts
Cons: Poor Quality, Poor Fit, does not work as advertised.
"This is cheap, and it looks like you get what you pay for.
To fit 2 bottle cages to it, and fit to bike, you need a total of 7 bolts. Mine came with just 1. I have plenty of other bolts, so I can work round this. Next, it does not stay where fitted once a bottle is used, it progressively droops until the bottle falls out.
Even the mudguards on my childrens biks use sawtooth fixing brackets so they cannot slip round when done up - and they take no load. This is supposed to take the weight of water bottles, and it has no such refinements.
I have modified mine with extra drilling, plates and cable ties, but once you get into this, you have to wonder whether you would have been better off making something from scratch.
Its rubbish, don't buy it."

bottle bracker
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable
"the TACX underseat bottle bracket is a good fit. The assemble is not robust and will require thread loack or glue to provide assurity of fit.
this bracket and bottle holder does the same job as systems much more expensive.

Versatility and a great price
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Versatile
"The Tacx saddle cage holder works like a treat. The greatest advantage with the Tacx is that you can have either two bottles mounted side by side or just a single mounted in the centre. Simple, cleaver and strong."

be weary
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Poor Quality, Low Quality
"I bought this so i could extend the distance i was able to ride by carrying more water as was the only thing preventing me from riding further, when it arrived i realized it could hold 1 or 2 drink bottles so i was very pleased, note bolts to hold bottles are not supplied but the nuts that the bolts screw into are, the instructions for installation are simple enough but they forget to tell u to put the washers on when joinging the 2 pieces of the holder together and because i was not aware of this i ended up tightening the bolt that joins them to its maximium which is not enough without the washers to hold the swinging ajustable arm in place because it was tighened to its max it is now undoable and by trying to unscrew it with great care and 10 minutes later i had stripped the bolt and it is now stuck unable to hold the position i want but is still usable non the less, so in all be careful about the installation and make sure u have your own bolts to attact your bottle holders to the mount."
