Thomson Elite X2 Oversized Road Stem

X2 is for the rider who understands what it takes to stay up front. Energy wasted in flex is the enemy on a road bike. X2 keeps your energy moving forward.

Very, umm, stiffy
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Well here we have it, the Thomson x2 stem.
I had purchased the x2 stem in 120mm black, which comes in a nice Thomson drawstring bag, instruction/warranty booklet and some stickers.
The machining of the stem is exceptional, smooth, clean cuts, no burrs, well polished with an excellent 2 bolt tightening system.
Weight came it at 151grams for the 120mm stem - which is reasonably light weight, given its strength and stiffness.
Can be flipped, and has a 10 degree slant.
Overall, very happy with the stem - no vibrations or flex or slipping so far ( i have Easton carbon bars too) If anything may be a little expensive compared to the offerings of 3T."

"Like any other Thomson product - this stem looks the business in the flesh and also performs well too. Feels really solid and is nice and lightweight also."

Great Stem
Pros: Lightweight, stiff
"High quality finish as one would expect from Thomson. Nice and light weight whist being stiff.
Slightly more expensive than a 3T but in my opinion a higher qulaity product.

Nice finish
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Not Enough Features, Limited Color Choices
"I needed to buy a new stem for my primary racing bike as its previous stem was too long and i was therefore overstretching. I got the 100mm stem (going down from the bikes standard 130mm, which seemed excessive!) and my position is far better!
The machined look is great and also it feels like i can transmit a lot more power through this stem.
Its only downfall is that it didn't show its tightening torque anywhere visible on the stem.
Also would have been good if it had come with various sizes of headset spacers rather than a complimentory stem bag - which seems relatively pointless once its on the bike!!

Good stem with plenty of sizes
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Good Fit
"A good stem at a reasonable price. The main reason I bought it was one of the few brands that had the length/degrees combination I required. The quality of the item is very high, although it is marginally heavier than other brands like 3T. Maybe it will cost a nanosecond in an olympic distance tri ;-)"

Best stem ever
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"This is ondubtely the best stem I've ever had, and I've had a lot of them. Light, stiff (yes, you really feel it) and elegant. The handcraft is wonderful, adjust to the fork exactly. Really happy with my purchase."

Super Stem
Pros: High Quality, Rugged, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I saw one of these stems on a friends bike and was a bit jealous. The build quality is superb, so when I wanted a shorter stem for my posh road bike I thought I'd take the plunge. I haven't been disappointed; the stem is light and beautifully made, particularly the elegant face plate with just two bolts. I've got a matching Thomson seat post just to show off and they complement my precious steed nicely."

Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
"It is a very good looking agressive stem, the finish makes it even nicer, love to look at it and love to ride it took a Thomson Masterpiece Seatback seatpost as well so it is a great match. Very satisfied.recommend to all powerful yet flexible riders, not for those who search for comfort over looks and aerodynamics.

90mm version
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: none
"I'm actually using this stem on my XC Mountain Bike (Trek Top Fuel) as it is plenty stiff enough and strong enough for racing and general riding. It's nice and light and the quality is second to none."

Simple elegant functionality
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"Nice design, without ugly obvious protrusion of the steerer nuts behind the steerer collar. They are still there, but nicely rounded so they're not too noticeable. The weight is weeny and the front clamp very secure."

X2 stem
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
"With so many stem distinguished solely by weight or logos the thomson X2 stands alone in its build quality. While the styling may not be for everyone, the quality of the machining and finish is topnotch. Everything consumers like about their seatpost is echoed in the design of this stem; low weight, solid performance and good looks. Quality worthy of the price."

great piece of metal
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"I am very pleased with this nice piece of metal. It is rather stiff, sturdy, strong, and light. It comes with instructions written by somebody that obsesses over pieces of metal. It is packaged in a canvas bag silk screened with images of all the various pieces of metal that THOMSON manufactures. The bag can be used to shroud open containers- it is the perfect size and its drawstring can be worn around your wrist to prevent spills. There are also two sets of stickers that say THOMSON in black and in white that you can apply to your frame or your open container, although certainly not to your THOMSON stem (it would ruin the aesthetics). All of this extra stuff is a nice way of reminding you that you just spent a lot of money on a piece of metal (although it really is a wonderful piece of metal)."
