At last!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"I've used various boot mounted bike racks before, and they've all had the same problem - they all "hang" from the top straps, i.e. all the weight is on two fabric straps, meaning your pride and joy never seems that secure. Many a car journey I have constantly been looking in the rear view mirror to ensure nothing has fallen off!!!
Well, the answer to my woes, thankfully, lies in this bike rack...
The Saris Bones is different to all other racks in that the main structure is a long, thick, tubular, aluminum "spine" which sits horizontally. From this extend 5 plastic "ribs" - one extends vertically and rests against the rear window, two extend downwards and rest on the bumper, the last two extend outwards and support the bike. All of the ribs can rotate around the central spine, then engage in "teeth" to hold them in place. Each rib has large thumb screw which holds them in place, but doesn't take any "strain". Finally you have 3 long straps that pass through the aluminum tube, connecting at top, sides and base of the car boot.
So, the weight of the bikes is taken on the two lower ribs, which have pivoting rubber feet. There is no weight placed on the straps at all - they are simply there to hold the rack in position.
Another great aspect of this rack is that the cross bar of the bike (which is the part of the bike resting on the rack) is held in two rubberised straps, which do not mark or scratch. I used an inferior rack previously which scratched my bike after one journey.... thankfully the Saris does not do this.
So, in summary... very easy to use (you even get stickers to "mark" where you position the ribs.... meaning you can collapse and reassemble very quickly)... very strong ... and keeps your bike safe and sound.
If you need a 2 bike rack... get this one! If you need a 3 bike rack... get the Bones 3!"

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"Adding a whole new aspect to going somewhere on your bike, going some of the way by car!
Ok, every bike rack gives you this, but I am so pleased with this rack. When I look in my rear view mirror I want to see my bike rack (and more importantly my pride and joy bike!) are still faithfully following along behind. This rack is solidly built from materials that last and so easy to install that it was easy to place my confidence in it.
When it come down it cleverly folds away neatly and kept in the boot.
The design is pretty ingenious, making installation a doddle.
One downside is that it doesn't lock to your car, you'll need to put it back in the boot before you ride off and then setup again before you drive off, but it's easy to install."

Perfect
Pros: Attractive, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Over the years I have had many different bikes racks that have been too complicated to fit or too bulky to store. The bones is simple to fit and folds down to a size that's easy to store.
The only critism I would say is that the threads on the screws can damage if they are not screwed in properly.

Excellent unit
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I bought this rack to fit to a 2010 model Mazda MX-5. It fits like a dream. The rack is lightweight, but very tough. The bikes don't bounce around and that makes the driver more comfortable (and less nervous). I'm very pleased."

works well and quite easily
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Adjustable
"I used this for the first time for a 2 hour drive from Brisbane to Byron Bay. I spent the first half-hour looking through the rear view mirror to see the bike was still there - thankfully it was and I need never have worried.
It's relatively easy to fit to the car - there does seem to be a lot of spare binding left over dangling that has to wrapped around itself.
It is very well made and feels very sturdy.
Held my bike with no damage at all (and it's a carbon frame)
Also - importanlty, not a mark anywhere on the car.
One warning - it doesn't lock on to the car, so you can't leave it attached to the boot when you cycle. Easy to put in boot or back seat though

Great alternative to roof racks
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
"I bought this versatile bike rack as a better option than very expensive roof racks for our two vehicles. As advertised, it fits well on a sedan boot and a station wagon (estate) rear door. Once the straps are tight it is very solid. The loops hold the bike(s) very securely.
Set up is straightforward. I recommend that anyone considering this rack views the instruction videos on the Saris web site. Make sure you clean the feet before mounting it on the car. You'll need an octopus strap to stop the front wheel swinging around when there is just one bike on the rack.
The only disadvantage is that you cannot open the boot or tailgate whilst the rack is mounted. On the plus side it only takes a few minutes to mount or dismount.
For occasional use to transport a couple of bikes on a variety of cars this is absolutely ideal and excellent value for money."

Pros: Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"Having an odd shaped car (VW Scirocco) I was a little pensive about putting bikes on the back. Once you have worked out the configuration of the Saris Bones rack, fitting it each time could not be simpler. The fitting to the car provides a really stable platform for the bikes even at motorway speeds. The addition of a couple of extra straps, to stop the handle bars from swaying would be an added bonus, but nothing that could not be resolved with a couple of bungees or a velcro strap.
The ability to fold down the rack into a more compact size for storage it extremely easy."

Can't get any cheaper.
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Versatile
"This rack is definitely value for money. Solid good quality construction and very versatile. I imagine it would fit almost any vehicle. Easy to set up. Compact for storage.
It's a bit smaller than I imagined. The two arms that the bike rests on are quiet close together. There are no cut outs to allow for bike cables that run along the top tube, so they get a little squashed on some bikes. Straps need to be very tight to make the rack properly secure to the car.
Saris has good customer service. Check website for fit guide."

Neat and secure
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Adjustable
Cons: Expensive
"It's as fiddly to fit as every other rack I've ever used but it is sturdy, well made and folds neatly for storage. It holds the bikes pretty securely without having to resort to lots of additional bungees and ties too.
All in, it's a nice design.

Very pleased with my purchase
Pros: High Quality, Rugged
"It was with some trepidation that I recently purchased a Saris Bones 2 Bike Rack. I have never used a bike rack before as I have only recently taken up cycling. The rack was very easy to assemble and fit - the instructions that came with it were clear and concise. The first time I fitted it to my car - a BMW, 3 series convertible- it took me about 20 minutes. After that, less than 10 minutes as it was much easier than I had expected. I travelled from Manchester to southern Ireland without any problems, although I did stop to check on more than one occasion. The bike was stable all the time. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product."

Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"The Saris Bones 2 Bike Rack is absolutely superb. Easy to put together. Lightweight and therefore easy to fix on the car. A big step forward from the traditional designs. This is the first time I have used Wiggle and it won't be the last. Excellent service and free delivery to France. Thank you."

good product with some limitations
Pros: Attractive, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: design finish left nasty raised edges to cut hand
"-the product design is pretty good.
-nice and light in weight and folds up easy to live in the boot of your car if you wish.
some minus points though are:
-there were some manufacturing marks left on mine that were from the injection process.. they left some nasty raised plastic spikes that could cut your hand easily if not noticed and sand-papered back to flat.
- I contacted Saris direct and then sent them photos when they requested them, but no word after that.. bit poor response from them in my opinion.
- this design will cover your number plate for standard sedan in OZ..so you will need to buy another number plate from motor rego department for $30..otherwise you could be up for $200 fine from the cops for obstructing your plate."

Rock solid, adjustable, superb
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"The perfect bike rack at a good price. Used on 3 different cars, easy to adjust, and packs down to a decent size for storage by adjusting all arms and legs to lie flat. Add the super solid Saris lock for security when you need to leave your bikes on the rack. Easy to set tension, strong and reliable."

Does the job, perfect.
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
Cons: hooks need tape to prevent paint damage
"I purchased the Bones 2 bike rack for my RX 8 as the options for transporting bikes on my care are very limited and this bike rack was recommended on some forums.
The rack was easy to install, all the hooks have markings for side top and bottom. I stopped to adjust it once after driving for about 15mins after first install but has been fine since. It's holds well even on rough roads with the stiff suspension on the RX-8, and my factory spoiler doesn't get in the way.
The hooks need some material on the inside to protect scratching the paint, gaffa or electrical tape works fine although a consideration from the manufacturer towards this would be nice.
Overall, it's a great system for transporting bikes. Can have my sunroof open and considering that roof racks with bike attachments cost in excess of $500, this is a great cost saving solution."

Fiddly but stable
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable
Cons: fiddly to fit
"Although this is slightly fiddly to install and wouldn't fit the book of my E-class Mercedes without a touch of modification, it is very stable in use and holds two bikes really well. It seems very well made."

Clever Design
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive, lacks padding
"Despite no specific recommendation for my car on the Saris website, checking via an VW Scirocco owner's forum revealed several recommendations for the Saris Bones. Photos showing how to fit it proved extremely helpful too.
Metal clips and pristine cars don't seem like good partners, but so far no problems. I have resorted so far to adding tape to the bodywork as a safety measure against chafing though. My only criticism would be that the clips are not padded or protected in some way, hence the tape. That adds a few extra minutes to fitting the rack, but once the right adjustments are known and with a little practice, it's only a few minutes to attach it to the car.
Despite the weight and concern over resting all the weight on a plastic bumper, all has worked fine so far, the rack itself and attachment system appearing to be very solid. A classy product but still pricey.

Great product
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit, easy to fit
Cons: just need to be able to secure front wheel
"i had a need to find a bike rack that carried two to three bikes that fitted over a reasonably large spoiler on a Subi Impreza MY07. I take my bike 300km at times so needed a secure and light option without having to pay for a towbar or roof racks. I found it in the Saris Bones2 Bike Rack.
It fitted easily over the spoiler and secured the bike perfectly. It was easy to fit and adjust.
If anything I would suggest an extra purchase of a strap to secure the front wheel to the frame otherwise I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it without bias."
