Better than plastic
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Adjustable, Versatile
"I have all sorts of problems with the Campagnolo resin cable stops, so I swapped them for these. They are far and above a better product.
Then I had a restoration/upgrade project on a frame which had some keyed downtube bosses (1982 Shimano 600EX). I used some of these cable stops and bored out the interior to accommodate the older boss, rather than remove the bosses. Quite a versatile product, really!"

Modifying cable stops
Pros: High Quality, Adjustable
Cons: Bulky
"I modified the frame on an Orbea-where the original stops had been cut off by the previous owner. They fitted the curve of the down tube well, without any need to file them. Just needed to tap a thread into the tube to take these stops. Work well, but just could be a little bit more low profile for aesthetic reasons."

Does the job
Pros: Good Fit
"Very straight forward to install and set up with an old pair of Suntour thumb shifters on my new flat bar. I took off the old drop bar and down tube shifters as a concession to my advancing years and loss of flexibility. These items are just the ticket to make this change possible."

Shimano STI Pair Of Cable Stops
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"I thought it would be quite difficult to find this kind of product until I found Wiggle, found it straight away, no trawling through pages and pages looking at items that have the word cable or similar words in the description......great, couldn't believe my luck. The goods arrived sooner than expected in packaging that was perfect for the product (none of this packaging you can fit a house in) so no waste - excellent. The product itself is great, the quality of the finish is top and the threaded parts are smooth - top quality, then you look at the price.....wow.....how can you do it so cheap?
Thanks a million.. ;-)"

"Another good Saimano product. If you need this there are really few options so go with this one. I like handle bar shifters for their location and old steel frames for their ride and durability."

Classic simplicity
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality
"Not much to say about these except that they are very well finished with that classic old school look that really suits my retro steel build. Wiggle service and shipping was excellent."

Work well
Pros: Adjustable, Good Fit
"This is a great little product that does what it says on the tin. Contrary to some other reviewers I didn't have to make any modifications to get them to fit over the square brazed on lugs for my old levers. I have a new lease of life for my classic Raleigh frame now!"

smart and solid
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"These cable stops looked more substantial than the equivalent items from other manufacturers. They work well and seem well made, cannot see them breaking. There is a positive feel to the adjuster which enables quick cable adjustment. They cover the lever boss completely and remain just proud of the frame."

Shimano quality
"Just like everything else that Shimano makes - its a quality product..... as per usual - a little more bulkier than the Campag equivalent, but good enough.
No more down shifters for the Chrome molly. It has given new life to an old friend - you've got to be happy with that."

Pros: Attractive, High Quality
"Used for upgrading from Shimano downtube shifters to STI's. These have a curved edge for fiting against a round steel downtube over the braze-on bosses. However, for my particular bike/frame I needed to file the curved edge flat and also create a small notch to butt up against a fitted spacer which already takes up the curvature of the frame around the steel bosses. It didn't take long to file these cable stops flat as they are made of aluminium. I haven't been able to find any flat edged Shimano downtube cable stops from any UK based seller despite extensive research so these were the best option - although they seem to be availble in the USA (but not sure if these would fit perfectly either)."

Does the job
Pros: High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"I was converting my old road bike from downtube-mounted shifters to brake-integrated jobs and a colleague at work pointed out that I'd need a solid mounting point on the frame for the ends of the gear cable sheaths. I didn't know any better, so I was going to just cable-tie them on...
Anyway, he suggested these stops as they screw onto the old mount points on the downtube and they're exactly what I needed, fitting over the old lever mount points like they were made to measure. I've only been out on the bike a couple of times since fitting, but they seem to work well and the barrel adjustment was useful to trim out a small stretch in the front cable.
They seem like good quality items too, with a metal body and plastic barrel adjuster. They even look quite nice, which is a bit of a bonus!"

Pros: High Quality, Good Fit

"I acquired a 7 speed Sora shifter and converted an old Ribble to STI using the RH Cable Stop. They're not cheap for what they are, but it does the job nicely. Now I just have to think of a use for the LH."

"Trying to get the barrel adjusters on their own at local bike shops was a problem for me. For some reason, even though almost every bike has them, they don't appear to be sold separately.
Why did I need them anyway? The shop that assembled my bike lost one for the front derailleur before delivery. At the time I was so excited to get the bike I didn't know what a lousy job they did. Anyway I wanted to be able to trim it properly. After seeing how bad the bike assembly was there was no way I was going back to them, so I researched this part and I was very pleased to find what I wanted at Wiggle.
The adjusters were a perfect fit and perform their function well.
Ideally I would have preferred them in Black but the function is more important than the look."

Does what it is designed to do
Pros: Good Fit
"Fits snugly over the braze-ons and locks down tight. I think they look nice on the bike. Quality is good, they certainly don't look or feel cheap. Price was reasonable. Now I can use that old steel frame I bought years ago, and upgrade my brakes and shifters."
