Simple bike hanger
Pros: Durable, Rugged
"Easy to instal simple bike hanger. I found that the foam tubes used to protect the bike from the metal of the hanger material moved about overtime and exposed the bike frame to damage. Had to use duct tape to hold them in place and wrap over the ends etc to ensure no metal could come into contact with the bike."

"Good price and sturdy item can fix to wall too, with different screws etc. I've had this up ona wall for about a fortnight outside and thought heavy winds and apart from swinging about very little it's stayed put. Hook folds up out the way when not in use, nice item.."

Minoura Bike Hanger 4 Rack
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
"I bought the Minoura Bike Hanger 4 Rack because I found it better suit my needs. I have a small shed and my local bike store was trying to sell me the bike hanger that catches the bike by the wheel. I looked around other local bike shops and they had nothing to suit. So I checked wiggle and was pleasantly surprised to see that this item could be got. I am so pleased with it and it was easy to put up. Will purchase another one this year to hang a second bike."

Does the job
"I bought two of these to hang my road and mountain bikes on the walls of my shed. They were easy to fix into a single vertical timber in the studwork wall, and are stable enough for my sub-10kg machines. Not sure I'd hang my daughter's heavy Pashley off them. The supporting hooks could do with extra padding - with cables under the top tube there is potential for frame damage, but easily fixed wth a bit of foam or rag to act as padding; a shame that these weren't supplied though."

Simple and great value
Pros: Great Value
"Concerned that it wouldn't be strong enough but no worries - its strong, discreet and has a little hook for your helmet.
The bike is now hanging in the spare bedroom (can't have precious in a shed!). If not drilling into wood direct then you need to make sure you drill into wooden batten behind the plasterboard.
Its slightly adjustable.

Good value hanger
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable
"Spent ages looking at solutions to store two bikes in a hallway. Chose the minoura bikehanger4 due to looks and price. Not disappointed, folds flat when not in use, has hook to hang helmet & lock and changes a cluttered hallway into bike art!"

Hung Up
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
Cons: Unadjustable
"Pretty impressed with these hooks (in fact I've ordered two more). They seem to be sturdy as my road bikes are still up after 3 weeks. A down side is that no wall plugs are provided for mounting them on brick walls."

Good value wall rack

Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight
"If you're after a well thought, cost effective rack; then this should be on your shortlist. Have been using daily for around a month and so here are my thoughts.
It isn't over engineered, but holds my bike (11 - 12Kg) fine. Maximum load is rated at 20 Kg, but I'd personally not want to take the load bearing capacity to the limit.
I'm using in a domestic environment, so the fact the rack is low profile helps it to be reasonably unobtrusive. It can be folded away when not needed, but I don't bother as I have mine quite high up. The hook is useful for helmet etc.
There is some adjustment for angled top tubes. I could adjust more so both wheels on bike are level, but sticking to how it is for the time being. Short and long screws are supplied. They appear to be for timber, and so no plugs supplied. I have used the long ones with appropriate plugs for solid walls."

"This rack does exactly what it says on the tin. Keeps my bike out of the way and out of harms way. I keep it in a fairly cramped shed so the space was needed."

"Bought the wall mount as i live in a flat without a garden or shed, so my only option is to keep my bike indoors. Only problem was her indoors didnt like it in the way, Solution hang it on the wall and the minoura wall bracket was an excellent choice. Cheap easy to fit and very robust i can highly recommend it"

Poorly engineered
Pros: Attractive
Cons: Expensive, weaker than generic rack
"I use a cheap generic folding hook wall rack for my older road bike, and have had no problems. For my new full suspension mtn bike, I decided to trust a 'name brand, rather than whatever was at the hardware store. The Minoura wall rack seemed to be the way to go, based on the on-line photos.
There were several surprising differences between the Minoura and the generic rack, and not always pleasant surprises!
The one piece double hook portion of the Minoura is about 10% smaller in diameter than the generic rack. This could be due to a better grade of steel in the Minoura, or it could be a cost cutting measure. I will call this a draw.
The hook portion of the Generic is finished in an abrasive feeling coating, while the Minoura has a heat shrink vinyl covering nicely finished in a soft end cap. While I would use an all cotton sock or rag over the hooks of either one of the racks, Minoura wins on paint protection.
The base plate of the two racks seems to be identical thickness, nice and heavy, so this is another tie.
The base plate of the Minoura is 1.5"/38mm wide, by 6"/152.5mm tall. Very narrow, and when mounted to the wall and holding a bike, the rack is highly prone to rocking along the vertical axis to the wood screws, placing a pulling/shearing force on them if one end of the bike is bumped. The base plate of the generic is more nearly square, 3.5"/89mm wide by 4.5"/114.3mm tall, and mounts solidly to the wall, with little movement along the vertical axis if one end of the bike is bumped. Advantage Generic.
The generic base plate has 2 mounting wood screws, while the Minoura uses 3. However, the Generic came with 3"/76.2mm long wood screws that were twice the diameter of the screws supplied by minoura, which also were only 2"/51mm long. The generic mounting supplied much deeper threads over a longer length than the Minoura, and also had larger diameter heads to withstand shearing. Generic wins this one by a large margin.
The folding hook mechanism on the generic is very simple. The central 2/3rds of the base plate is cut on 3 sides and folded back on itself to form a hinge around the center of the hook arm. The top mounting screw goes through both the folded back hinge and the base plate, securing everything to the wall. The Minoura hinge is more complicated. A seperate folded 'U' shaped metal structure is secured to the base plate by a machine screw running through an aluminum spacer tube. The hook portion of the rack is then WELDED to the top of the U shaped structure. Welds can fail, while loose tolerance heavy guage hinges are fairly indestructable. While the Minoura remains folded in the "up" position more reliably than the generic, the reliance on both a welded joint AND a seperate machine bolt hinge instead of a simple folded hinge gives the advantage to the generic.
The generic version is half the price of the Minoura, again giving it the edge.
In summary, I really wanted to like the Minoura; it was nicely finished and came with decent directions (no directions with the generic, but it isn't rocket science, after all). But the Minoura rack actually started to pull out of the wall at the top and center screws as soon as I hung the 30 lb/14.6 kilo mtn bike on the rack. (Yes, the screws were in the center of the vertical 2x4 wood studs as required by the directions, and no, they weren't overtightened or stripped). The Minoura is rated at 20 kilos/44 lbs, but as constructed and with the supplied hardware, I wouln't hang a 7 kilo/15 lb time trial bike from this rack."

Great Design
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: hanging distance required
"Love the design, lightweight, easy to install, looks expensive, but very well priced. Folds away flush to wall when not being used. The only consideration you need to take into account is the distance it hangs away from the wall, this is not adjustable as you would expect, but the pictures do not give you a good view of the distance involved. Great for waist high hanging in a garage for maintenace tasks for example, probably not perfect for high level storage tasks where the bike is going to be stored for weeks at a time, due to the hang space required. Other than than can't fault it - would buy another."

minoura bike hanger
Pros: Great Value, Versatile
"Easy to fit. Easy to use. We use it to hold the bikes up off the floor to work on them as well as to keep them safe in the garage. 10 out of 10 can't fault it."
