let there be light
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
"The dark mornings are creeping up on us and after four near misses with white van man I decided I needed some lights. After reading several reviews in the cycling mags I decided the EL-135 was the one for me. I must say I have only been using this for 2 weeks but I have not been disappointed, I have a daily 7 mile urban commute which throws up the usual mixture of hazards IE potholes, supermarket trolleys, etc and the EL-135 illuminates my journey competently. In flashing mode it lights my path and warns other road users of my presence. On darker stretches (where the street lights have been stolen) it can be switched to a fixed beam which although not blinding is capable of picking out the drunks sleeping in the road. The build quality is very good, the switch can easily be used with gloved fingers and the tool free bracket is a delight. All in all a very good product for urban use and white van man can see me now."

Cateye
Pros: Great Value
"works well with my other lights, because 10 mile of my bike ride home, has no street lights, then when I get back to street light zone I put this to flashing mode. For small it's very bright."

Very bright for a small light
Pros: Great Value, Lightweight, compact
"I got this to replace a smaller LED that was only good for visibility so I could cycle on un-lit roads and paths in the winter mornings and evenings.
It is very bright for the price, and I'd say halfway between a light for visibility and a headlight style thing. I think you'd have to pay quite a lot more for a bright headlight to light the path more.
It was very easy to fit on the bike, it's easy to use and compact. It helps a lot with the unlit paths but would not be bright enough for dark tracks."

Bright and stable.
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I have used this for a month so far and its performance is constant. It is brighter than my previous torch and the brightness never change when set as constant lit no matter how bumpy the road is."

Excellent Value Light
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Light is extremely vivid and strong, set to flash it will get you noticed while commuting in the dark. I bought this for a 40km round trip commute into the city so i needed something that would be extremely visible. Small and lightweight I can't fault this item."

Good light
"Very compact. Bright enough to light the path - not just bright enough to be seen.
Mounting is OK too.

Good light but fixing broke within a couple of yrs
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"I've had two of these lights, and I like them as they have a good light spread, batteries last for ages and projects some light to the side so that cars at junctions are more likely to spot you. However the plastic attachment for fixing and removing it from the bike (which I do twice daily as I commute with it) on both of mine broke within a couple of years. Despite the fact the rest of the light is fine, once this connector breaks, the light jumps off the bike whenever I go over a bump, so I've had to replace it each time. Not all Cateye lights use this fixture, but the 130 and 135 series all seem to."

Good Light, Bad Design
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Low Quality, Wears Out Easily
"It's a good light, but the clip at the bottom, which keeps it fixed to the handlebar bracket, gets easily broken in a bag. This is the second time it's happened to me.
And then it's a good light you can't attach to anything. Which is a bad light."

A good little purchase
Pros: Attractive, Lightweight
"It's not the brightest front light out there, but at the price it's very good value and perfectly good enough for commuting. I've had an old Cateye opticube for several years now and I have found it very reliable, but this new one is smaller, lighter and brighter, plus I love the sleek black look."

Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"An excellent, compact front light. Easy to fit and leaves plenty of room on the handlebars for additional lights and other accessories. Can be used in the intermittent mode during poor light or as a powerful continuous light during the hours of darkness. Great value and highly recommended."

Very pleased with this light
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit, bright
"This light represents good value for money. It is easy to install, easy to clip on and off, light weight, compact, and very bright.
There is enough light to make you very visible to drivers, and although a lot more money would need to be spent to get a light that would properly light the way ahead, this is bright enough to help between more widely spaced street lamps.
I have had several models of front flashers, and this is the brightest and lightest so far."

Excellent quality light
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable
"Coming late to the LED party I now realise what I have been missing. Better quality light (both for seeing and being seen), almost infinitely longer battery life, better etc.
Seems like a very well made product too - would be surprised to find it shipping water. Let's see!

Sleek, powerful light
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Lightweight
"I have not owned it long enough to attest to the battery life but this light is small and powerful, easy to fit on the bike and a nice sleek design. I am surprised at how little it cost."

Good Value
Pros: Adjustable, Lightweight
"I used this as a second 'flashing' light for the front for very dark mornings and evenings on my rural commute. It's good for visibility but won't light up the road in front of you."

Top piece of Kit
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile
"This little unit is superb as a commuter light, with the focus on Being Seen. It is small, weighs little (so will fit in a pocket when off the bike) and is easy to pop on and off the holder. It also packs a big punch which, when switched from flashing to constant mode, even stretches to illuminating the path or road ahead in total darkness so long as you are not going flat out. It feels more solid than its pre-decessors and instills confidence that it won't fail, suffer from dislodged batteries or come off the moment you hit a bump. Unless you are off-road mountain biking (in which case your needs are in a different ball park) this light is all you need on the front of a bike."

great buy
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
"i bought the light along with the rear Cateye TL-LD600 LED, couldn't stretch the budget much more than this price bracket, to be honest i don't see what the £100+ lights could offer extra compared to these as long as you weren't going off road in the dark. I feel as though they are very visible for road use and haven't had any issue so far!!
I would recommend them to road cyclists, i did have to add some bar tape to my rear stem to ensure the bracket fitted more snug.
