Great, but not fantastic
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Lightweight

"I've run this for a couple of 1000km now and have had no problems with it. It's paired with XTR shifters and the operation is extremely smooth and accurate.
No real improvement over XT though (except a few grammes), so you're only purchasing to match an XTR set-up :)
My only qualm is that the position on my frame (a Yeti ARC) was over the bottom bottle cage attachment, so I had to remove the screw and apply grease to stop water ingress. Also means I'm one bottle down..."

"XTR is never a risky option & this is certainly no exception. the XT FD functions almost as well, but doesnt look half as good as this baby!"

"Whilst this XTR version of Shimanos front derailieur does exactly what it says on the tin there is not a significant quality difference over and above the XT version to warrant the extra over cost. Only minor grahic differences appear to distinguish the XTR and XT versions appart. Essentially they appear to be` mechanically the same?
That said when combined with other Shimano drive train components this mech offers super smooth shifting without the need for constant adjusting that seems to be necessary with other manufacturers components in my experience."

"Shimano's XTR range has again proved faultless the M971 Front Mech is well finished, the clamps secure on the frame and when setup the shifting is smooth and extremely reliable.
If your going to be spending the days in the crud and want reliability then the M971 is for you."
