Quick, silky smooth gear changing

"This is the rapid rise version, which for those of you not used to this option makes the changing to an easier gear much quicker as this is the direction that the spring loading naturally wants to go in.
I've had all sorts of other versions, LX, XT and 'normal' XTR but this rear when mated to the XTR levers is just silky smooth, error free changing with just the lightest touch required. You can feel the slightest 'click' from the lever but the gear change is always precise.
When you're pounding it out uphill, the rapid rise gives you an almost instant change to an easier gear.
Just superb!
Looks pretty bling as well."

"I've been sold on the low normal range of Shimano derailleurs for a little while now although I had serious doubts when I first tried them. This is Shimano's finest example of their range (I removed an SRAM XO to fit this) and it hasn't disappointed. Build quality is excellent and it shifts cleanly each time. I like the shift up and I've coupled this derailleur with the 970 trigger shifters. The funky X pattern body is reasonably easy to clean/maintain and the jockey wheels are quality sealed units. 2 thumbs up from this scribe."
