Abus Bordo 90cm Folding Bike Lock - 2010

The new foldable Bordo lock uses a unique link construction to offer maximum flexibility when fastening your bike to a lamppost or railings. The clever design allows the Bordo to fold right up into its own compact frame mountable case. Picking resistance is also high thanks to the inclusion of the Abus EC Extra Classe cylinder

Seems secure, but heavy...
Pros: Durable, High Quality
"This Abus lock is very solid looking but heavy too.
Each joint moves very smoothly, must be careful to handle. I hit my bike mistakenly and faked of the paint.

Compact and versatile
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"I haven't had the chance to see this lock in action yet (I've seen a lot of mangled and destroyed u-locks, but I'm still unsure what a mangled Bordo would look like). But from a day-to-day perspective, it's brilliant: very compact form on the bike, extends out to attache to locking points and even small trees. I've got one for my wife as well, and she loves it. As far as security goes, so far I trust the line that the weld points are very hard to break, so a welding torch is the minimum to get through... if anyone knows different, please post here."

Yes, ABUS is excellent
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive
"Everybody knows Abus is the No.1 key producer in the world.
This product is also very good to use.
Packaging this lock key and mount on the top tube is very useful.
Every ride, with this Abus.

Is it too much ?
Pros: High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"I'm not sure if I really need this here in Tokyo. But I usually take it with me. It's very heavy but easy to carry..."

"It is compact though is a little heavy.
It is also good to be able to stop the screw to the body.

too heavy!
Pros: portable
Cons: Expensive, Bulky
"this lock is just far too heavy for the star rating. comes with a holder that fits! on your bike, which is not really any good. straps are not adjustable., either too long or too short."

Neat little lock
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"This is a great piece of kit mostly because it packs away so neatly, but also because it is quite secure.
It would easily defeat the casual thief, so for a trip into town it is perfect.
It works well to secure a bike in a staff bike cage if you are lucky enough to have one at work especially if you are having to carry other things with you. The tiny space and the super neat little carrying bracket make it ideal.
I haven't tested it to destruction, but it looks like it would stand up to a fair bit of an attack, and being unusual means that bike thieves are less likely to have whatever would be needed to destroy it.
If leaving a bike in a high risk area though I would add a super tough D lock to the rear wheel and frame, and use this for the front wheel for added peace of mind.

A reliable key but heavy
Pros: Durable
Cons: heavyweight
"It is a very reliable key, but too much heavy when you mount the key on the tube of your bicycle using it's designated case. When using expensive carbon parts to eliminate the weight of the bicycle, mounting this key on the tube invalidate precious investment on the carbon parts. But I cannot doubt the effectiveness of this key."

Awkward to use
Pros: compact, fits where other locks won't
Cons: hard to use, tricky to get round a fixed object
"Bought this for my girlfriend's ladies style MTB as it is hard to find a lock compact enough to mount in the frame space available on a ladies' frame. It fits on the frame ok but it's actually pretty awkward to use as a lock, the articulated sections are about 12cm long each so it doesn't "flow" around the frame and a fixed object easily."

Flexible Lock
Pros: High Quality, Rugged
Cons: Expensive, heavy
"I wanted a padlock that was long not too bulky and could be strapped to the bike and this padlock ticked the boxes. I cannot vouch for its strength under attack from a determined thief but it does seem very strong and good quality. On the downside it does weigh nearly 1kg!"

most strongly strong
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
"There is length enough, too and it might be difficult to destroy it.
It is the strongest in anti-theft.
It is possible to do, that bracket of attachment is compact and good
"
