Deuter Trans Alpine 30 Rucksack 2008
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
"I have had this rucksack for approximately six months now and i would not swap it for any of the cheaper ranges out there. It accompanies me on my 8-mile off road mountain bike trek to and from work every day. On some days the bag holds 20kg of "stuff" for the journey and yet the transalpine 30 is so comfortable to wear. The airstripes system and straps are very well designed and I have not once had any chaffing. There are many pockets and compartments to satisfy most needs (definately mine!). On a typical day the bag contains a 2L water bladder, change of clothes, wash kit, laptop and my lunch. It can be a bit of a squeeze but there is also room for external storage of a small bag in the helmet storage space. The rain cover is also very good quality and has kept the bag and contents dry through the worst rainstorms of the 2009 winter (and spring and as i write the questionable summer!). The only quibble i have is that there is a flap of material on either side of the main top zip that keeps catching on the zips. Other than that I whole heartedly reccomend the Deuter Trans Alpine 30 Rucksack. It is worth every penny."

Great Purchase,- the cavernous sack
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Versatile
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Having had a slightly smaller Deuter before, I bought this for two reasons: a) to transport larger stuff such as sailing kit (wetsuit, towel, shoes, food etc) whilst using my bike and b) for airline hand luggage (under current max dimensions). After a weeks continuous use on the bike I am extremely pleased. It appears comfortable, well built, loads of space, plethora of pockets and the very handy helmet holder can be used for all sort of other securing uses. The connected rain cover in its own compartment as standard is also a massive plus as it certainly saves the contents getting wet and having to buy a separate cover. Given a bit more time and use I'd probable give it 5 stars all round."

Excellent for commuting to work
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Versatile
"Used to carry approx 7-10kg of load incl laptop & paperwork to & from work on the bike. As comfortable & stable as any pack can be for the load and does the 40 min trip in traffic without problems. And you can walk off the bike with the bag without unhitching panniers. Also use it when I drive to work. Great bag."

Back pack
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, sectioned
Cons: not enough reflection
"I like the backpack because its got just the right amount of space for a long day on the trail with out being too big,I can fully pack and still do the hardest of trails with out knowing its there and with most packs you get a very sweaty back but with this you don't so theres no shivers wene you stop for too long and the bags got sections so you dont have to get every thing out,And another good point is the rain cover that does work very well ,i fully recomend this backpack"

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: needs effort to fit well
"Good tough and stable bag. Copes with overloading and general abuse. The fit isn't the easiest to get right, time spent adjusting the straps and buckles is time well spent though - once it's set up it's OK."

Excellent Kit
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"A robust and typically well engineered German back pack, suitable for daily commutes or hitting the trails.
A shower proof construction is ideal for our so called "global warming climate" and a handy stow away rain cover keeps your kit dry if the heavens happen to open on you.
There are more stowage points and pouches than you can shake a stick at, all with YKK zip closures that are one of the most hard wearing and robust brands available.
A removeable base section allows the main storage compartment to expand out to a humungous 30 litre load capacity. Despite this perceived bulk, when fully loaded the well constructed straps securely hold the pack in place, whilst the cunning back support allows air ventillation to cool your back.
Reflective logos help keep you safe whilst being seen in bad light conditions and a neoprene/twin clasp helmut holder is a vast improvement over the usual elasticated mesh affairs on back packs which soon distort out of shape.
All in all a great piece of equipment put together and designed by people who know and care about the requirements of a cyclist.

Good multipurpose rucksack
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Versatile
"Good for cycling and trekking. Use to cycle to work and it's the perfect size. Just returned from Peru and was ideal for the 4 day Inka Trail. Waist belt takes most of the load so shoulders don't have to. Good pockets so things are accessible."

The only bag to buy
"The perfect bike rucksack for the daily commute or shorter tours. I am 205 cm tall, and maybe the back is not long enough for tall people, esp as adjustability is limited (compared to trekking rucksacks) - but then that is the same for all rucksacks in this class. so overall, no complaints."

Excellent cycling pack
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: possibly too big for most day trips
"This pack is extremely well constructed. It is capacious - probably more room than you would need, beyond a 250km epic ride. Multiple pockets help organize your goods, including a helmet strap for when you're off the bike. The design is such that it sits well while riding.
The design of the mesh padding on the back panel is as good as it gets for keeping you cool. Realistically, nothing will keep you from sweating - but this is the best pack I've tried in terms of comfort.
Only time will tell, but based on a few hundred kilometers of riding, the quality seems excellent, and I expect that this pack will last a long time."

Best big cycle bag. Full-stop!
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"You won't buy a better made, more user friendly, adjustable, highly specified and durable bag on the market. The adjustments mean it is comfortable to any wearer. You can really fit a lot of gear in it (it's become a light weekend and excursion bag for me too). It looks good and you can put a very large bladder in it. The rain cover is really good too"

Great Rucksack
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality
"Great rucksack. I cycle approx 22 miles a day, sometimes carrying a lot of kit. The rucksack is very comfortable, and you can adjust it to fit your cycling position as necessary. Lots of little compartments are easily accessible for all your essential cycling needs. Good quality rucksack and in my opinion well worth the money."

Excellent Quality
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"Saw the item advertised and read the positive Reviews. Bought it for the wife who was due to go on a tweny six mile charity walk. Thought it was a little expensive but would give it a a try.
Can't fault it. You won't be disappointed. Excellent quality with lots of seperate pockets for kit and some extra features which you may not expect on a small rucksack. Straps help to keep the bag to the required compact size - especially when riding a bike. Took a gamble and its paid off. She's happy - so I'm happy. Highly recommended.

The usual Deuter excellence
Pros: Durable, High Quality
Cons: brushes against helmet
"When my Deuter Superbike died of old age, I went straight to the latest Deuter listings to ponder its replacement. Opting for more storage, I settled on the Trans Alpine 30 and it has not dissapointed with its massive capacity. The extra size means that Deuter have positioned the top of the shoulder straps quite low. This results in the top of the pack touching my helmet, more so if I am upright. This is obviously only a factor on a bike. The main compartment zip also gets caught in a fold of fabric on both sides about halway down--I superglued these down and there were no further issues. As a cyclist, I would prefer the Superbike simply because of the helmet problem but it's still a great product."

"Bought this pack to tackle the West Highland Way and it easily took all the kit i wanted it to for 3days on the bike.
Fully loaded with 10+kg it was still comfortable to wear.
Full of handy little features like the zipper pocket on the lumber belt for key, removable foam back pack that doubles as a trailside cushion.
If your looking for a high quality pack that will swallow all you can throw at it for a couple of days away then buy this.

Great Rucksack
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
"What a great rucksack! It carries a fullface helmet without problems, and works not only perfect at biking. When you think, your rucksack is full, you will always find another bag or another place at the rucksack for the rest. Hiking as well works with this rucksack."

On my back for 380 KM never felt it
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I really like this bag It seems to grip on to me and I don't really feel the weight. Rode it for a weeks touring with all my gear in and it was fine. The only bad point is it could do with a laptop holder for commuting. Otherwise pretty good."
