"The problem was we needed to hike around New Zealand with a 5 month old baby without him screaming like a banshee in whatever device we packed him in! The solution...... The Deuter Kid Comfort - With an easy to adjust child restraint system that doesn't require a engineering degree to figure out and veeerrrry comfortable straps (unlike some of those packs that give you the sore shoulder/neck headaches). From the very first walk this pack was comfortable and even a mid walk swap where I got the wife to bare the load only took about a minute to adjust the straps for her smaller frame. The second walk was on stinkin hot sunny day, so up with the built in sun/rain shade that is neatly zippered into the head section of the pack - this is where I found the only negative of the pack.....the front "flappy" section of sun visor scuffs the back of my head slightly (little bit irritating but not a major issue). All in all, we are wrapped in the purchase and as for the little fella, he just loves it... he sleeps, he watches and he drools all over the pillow section at the front. Even includes a little teddy bear!"

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, all the nice extras.
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"The Deuter Kid Comfort III is the ultimate back pack to carry a toddler in.
As a serious hiker, I have always been very pleased with Deuters products, and this is the best I've seen.
The harness is brilliant - quick to change, and as comfortable as you'll get with a 20kg load on your back. Carrying a child up and down hills on a winding mountain trail for 20km in a day is easily managable. The nice large pocket on the hip strap is great for carrying lollies without having to stop and take the pack off.
The child seat and harness itself is easy to get the child in and out of, and keeps them very secure - I've edged along a cliff with my child waving their arms and legs around, and the pack minimises any weight shifts so that you can keep your footing. I've also slipped and fallen on rocks, and the frame took a beating, but my son was totally unharmed, protected by the frame and extensive padding (I wasn't quite so protected unfortunately).
The child seat must be very comfortable, as my son has spent many hours sleeping while I walk, ducking branches etc. The chin pad seems to help considerably as a point to rest his head on.
Considering the overall size of the pack and the child, there is a good amount of space still availble to pack lunch, nappies, clothing etc, and the netting pockets expand to be hold quite a bit also.
The inbuilt sun hood is great to protect from both the sun and light raing, and prevent branches etc from collecting the passenger. The optional rain cover fits on the pack perfectly, and keeps the child completely dry.
Apart from its primary function of carrying your children, the pack has all the nice little clips and bits that make the difference between a good pack and an awesome pack - eg Mirror to see if child is asleep, zippered pocket for hydration pack, key clip in a pocket, adjustable everything, front hooks to connect a front pack to. About my only compaint would be that it doesn't have the nice little clip on the front shoulder strap to hold your hydration pack straw in easy reach in front of you like other deuter day packs do.
This is infact my second purcahse of the same product, as I now have a second toddler for my wife to carry, and I'm so happy with the one I already have I didn't even bother looking at others the second time around. Seems that Deuter have made a couple of little improvements to what was already a great product - eg larger elastic loops to clip the suncover on to, as this used to be a little fiddly.
All in all, this is an awesome product, and if you've been a serious hiker in the past, and want to get your young kids into the outdoors, and still enjoy walking longer harder tracks , this is the perfect solution.

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality
"We bought Deuter Kid Comfort III for our 20 month old son to be able to go to the parks and trails. We were a little bit afraid of buying a carrier because we were not sure that he would like it (he is very active and independent to sit in a carrier for a long time). However, as for now he likes it. Of course, he does not sit there the whole walk, but generally he is very comfortable in Deuter III, he likes to discuss all he sees around while he does not have to walk by himself.
The sun roof is very convenient and should protect the child from tree branches (now his head is lower than the fathers head, so he has enough protection, but quite soon we will have to think about it).
Me and my husband share the carrier during the walk, so it is very important for us that we can adjust it easily. Both of us feel very comfortable. Since our son does not complain, I assume that he is happy too. The child adjustments are easy and allow much flexibility in child age and size.
The only complain I have is the support during a child sleep. As for now our son slept only once in it and he could not find a comfortable position for his head, so he slided to one side and each time he fell in a deep sleep his head fell to the side. However, it might be the case that we did not read the instruction carefully or did not noticed something. Everything else is perfect.
A teddy bear is absolutely not necessary, but of course a nice touch of care.
And two more words about wiggle. The service and delivery is wonderful. I could not expect such a prompt shipping and door delivery. I was not surprised because I read about it in one of the reviews but I was very pleased.
And the price!!! Much better deal than in other places I could find.

Good product. Great service.
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive, reminds me i'm old fat and slow now..., could have better adjustment instructions
"To begin: Take the review of the KCIII with a slight grain of salt. I have never owned nor used a comparable product (eg. a Sherpani or higher end Kelty.) My only comparisons have been read online - and I'm sure if you're reading this, you can operate Google as well as I did.
With that said, I bought/own two of these as we have twins (whose first birthday is tomorrow.) Our twins are actually pretty big from a weight perspective and have been since birth (combined birth weight at 38 weeks was 15.5 lbs.) So far, my wife and I have only used them a half dozen times (no fault of the product, my wife just fell rollerblading and got a concussion.) In those times we have used them, they've been great. The kids will typically enjoy themselves or simply fall asleep while riding along in back. It adjusts well. It is light yet well padded. It has a built-in sunshade for the kids. It has LOTS of room for storage. The pocket mirror is nice to check up on the twins in back without too much hassle. Of course, nothing is going to make 25lbs of baby disappear, but it does allow you to place much of the weight on your hips.
My single complaint about the product might just be documentation. There were instructions on how to adjust "things" but I didn't feel it was really detailed enough. I didn't figure out all the adjustments until we'd used them several times. (And who knows - maybe I still have more to learn?)
Now, here's the part that blew me away. I have a major internet outdoor retailer located 30 minutes from my house. They are really great people and typically have great prices. I have nothing bad to say about them. BUT, in doing a google search for the KCIII, I first learned of Wiggle. Frankly, their price was about 60% of the nearby retailer's already decent price. So, I started doing research on Wiggle and found that almost everyone seemed happy with their service. So, I gave it a shot.
I ordered the KCIII's on Monday night in the western USA (nearly Tuesday morning in the UK.) I selected the free shipping option -without the extra few £ to have it expedited. On Friday morning, the Post Office called (yeah - weird. They called) saying they had a package from the UK for us that would be delivered that morning. So, literally 85 hours after clicking the submit button, I had both Kid Carrier III's in my home.
I'm around 5000 miles and one really big ocean away, and it only took 85 hours? Wow. I'm wondering what "fast" shipping would have been like. :)
Also, keep in mind, these things aren't exactly fold-it-up-and-put-it-in-an-envelope small. They came in a fairly decent sized box.
Regardless, unless they had given these things away for free, I couldn't be happier with the product or the service from Wiggle.
(OK, in all honesty, I was disappointed/scared for about 3 seconds when the packing receipt said that I was charged for shipping when I wasn't supposed to be. However, I then noticed that that was simply how they listed it on the receipt. They broke out the total price into the price for the product and the price for shipping. The total I was charged was exactly what I should have been charged. As I said, 3 seconds where I thought I'd been wronged, but alas, I was merely wrong. :) )"

Deuter Magic
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: zips a little stiff to use
"This is the best ever product i have brought for my daughter - now 11 months. She absolutely loves to go "walking" with mum and dad in it and happily falls asleep. It is so safe yet so easy to use and i absolutely LOVE the built in hood - totally necessary in the hot Australian sun!! This was the main reason for buying it and is brilliant to protect her from sun and rain. Other designs were just too fiddly.
It's comfy to wear and we love the easy change system so my husband and I can change over mid walk with one easy adjustment of the straps. Absolutely recommend to everyone!!

Envy of all Hikers !!
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Great product! It arrived very quick, within a week!! My son loved it from the second we put him in it (he's 8 months). Great pack, very big but comfy.
It is expensive but we got the best deal on this site, we would have paid about $70 more if purchased from REI.
The sunshade will be helpful and handy.
Definetly the envy of other hiking packs!!"

Best child backpack on the market
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, child friendly, stacks of storage
"I purchased this pack from Wiggle several months ago for a planned big trip in New Zealand in August. In order to get my large 6 month old used to the pack I have taken her on ever increasing hikes locally. This helped me set the pack up perfectly for longer hikes and as a result, this pack with the big kid, is a breeze. To make things even better, she loves it, she has excellent vision, comfort and protection. I would gladly recommend this pack to anyone."

Great High Quality Carrier
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality
Cons: Bulky
"We've tried lots of different kid hiking carriers, and this is by far the best one ever - the "luxury" model, that's for sure! The integrated hood works great to keep off the bright sun, but also will work great for a brush guard. The suspension system is very comfortable, and the craftsmanship is top notch. Can't wait to try this pack out on many different hikes!"

"We only recently got the KCIII but we - including our 12 month old - are already loving it. He loves being able to look around and it is so much fun to see his little hand come over your shoulder while he's pointing out yet something else that caught his interest. The included small mirror gives you a chance to look at eachother on occasion, which is great, too. In order to have the weight of the KCIII comfortably on my hips, I have to put the shoulder harness on the highest setting. I am 6ft. tall and don't have a long torso, so I am not certain how this will fit taller people comfortably. It is very easy to change the harness height. Our son is a shorty but his harness and seat both adjusted easily to a good fit for him. I found the instructions in the booklet easy to follow. It wears very comfortably once adjusted right. I walked a good hour with him the first time and wasn't even tired afterwards, and didn't feel my shoulders at all. For the ladies: apologies if this sounds silly, but I'd recommend wearing a sports bra with it. One time I wore the KCIII and the shoulder straps didn't feel good because of the adjustment thingies on my frilly bra being pushed into my shoulders. It was definitely a bra problem, not a KCIII flaw. <blush> My only big con is that there is no storage cover available for it. We are planning to use it while travelling as well, and we're going to need to gate check the KCIII while flying. It would be nice to have a storage cover for it, just to keep all the straps etc. together and for it to not get overly dirty. Hopefully I can find a good size sports bag for it. I emailed Deuter and they're not planning on making a storage cover for it. I think that's a bit of a shame. But all in all it's a great product and we all love it! Even my husband, who was literally running around the house with our son in it, sending the kiddo into fits of giggles. :)"

Excellent Ride for Your Little One
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: Expensive
"We love the Deuter Kid Comfort III. I did a lot of product research both online and in the stores trying to find the right backpack for our son.
PROS:
* Easy to adjust for parent and baby comfort
* Lots of storage space for snacks/toys/water
* Removable/washable baby chinrest is great
* Sturdy kickstand for baby loading
* Rear view baby mirror and Deuter Teddy Bear are nice touches
* Great price on Wiggle.com (I saved $60 USD!)
* Fast shipping from the UK... received the backpack within 4 days of the order!
CON:
* My son is 9 months old and pretty big for his age and I still need to pad his seat with a folded bathroom towel to seat him at the correct height for the harness. This is only temporary, of course.
Great buy! You won't regret it!"

Is bigger better!
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
Cons: Bulky, Limited Color Choices
"Bought this pack to take my little one hiking in south america in 6 months. He is 12 mnths but 13kg, and very tall for his age. I was hesitant at first because of the size of this pack, but I must admit, having an inbuilt sunroof is great. I don't forget bits, or lose them. The high head rest also protects his head a bit more when I forget and go under low branches! We have done some day hikes in this pack to get him use to it. It is very comfy, adjustable, easy to get in and out of for my child. I find it very comfortable and easy to adjust between myself and my husband. My baby didn't fall asleep in it, but he could I think. ( He was too excited to be able to see out) The best part of this pack is that it is very solid when placed on the ground with the baby in it. It won't tip over which is much better than some other packs I've used."

Deuter Kid Comfort III - great
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Expensive
"The pack is great. The bub loves it, makes singing noises all the time, points and just seems happy in it.
THe pack is very comfortable and highly practical and what it is sold as, the high end ultimate baby carrier.
The built in sun shade is wonderful, works great. Our little girl wont keep her hat on and being behind you it is hard to know when they pull it off and it's lost.
A couple of things that prevent it from being perfect:
* zippers are not big solid handles for one handed use, normally need two hands.
* the adjustable harness does not extend enough for tall bodied people. Instead of sitting on my hips (I'm 6'3 and a tall body) it sits slightly above, but still extremely comfortable. It fits my wife perfect.
Highly recommend it. Good buy for long treks and day to day, or around the house.
