Old School heaven!
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality
"Bought these forks to put on my 1993 Kona Hei Hei so I could bring it out of retirement and use it as a winter / night ride / commute / hack bike. They replaced an old pair of SIDs and the handling was transformed taking me all the way back to the early 90's! Project 2's would have been the obvious choice for this bike but the Salsas look almost identical plus the dropouts are much nicer on these forks. They could perhaps have been a tad lighter (I guess the original triple butted Project 2's would have been a lot lighter) but they soak up more trail buzz than I seem to remember rigid forks being capable of. All in all an excellent way to breathe new life into an old frame for not much money. Wish I'd done it earlier!"

Top Rigid Fork
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I bought this to swap out an old pair of shocks that i coud not lock out. The shocks were Mazzorchi Bombers from 2000 with 85mm travel. I am a pretty big guy with a 22"" MTB framed bike and as such did not need to cut the steering tube to size. As far as i can tell, there has been no change to the geometrty. Since i now mainly commute on hard top, i felt the need to get a rigid fork. To date, it has been fantastic and the bike just seems to roll along better now there is a rigid fork in place. It sure climbs a little quicker up hills but maybe that is in my mind. The great thing about the fork is that it accomodates either a V brake set up or discs. I am waiting on a new dic brake for the front to complete my bikes transformation to a dedicated commute/fitness bike. my cross country days are behind me for the time being. I am very happy with this purchase."

Good Stuff
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged
"Used to replace suspension forks on my trusty hardtail used for commuting/training. Bike is now light and responsive and triggered a conversion to 1x9 road gearing. A choice upgrade. May even give it a crack on the dirt. Would have preferred the version without the brake bosses but it wasn't available. Nothing the dremel and a touch of paint can't fix anyway."

Very happy
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
"Used this fork to replace a worn out suspension fork on my mountain bike. Fork was easy to fit and is light and stable. It feels much better on hill climbs and particularly when riding out of the saddle."

Nice rigid forks
Pros: Great Value, Good Fit
"Having moved to a very flat land I thought it prudent to change my RockShox to something a little less springy, and these Salsas do the trick at a very affordable price. Delivery was, as ever, speedy and within a week of ordering them I was jarring my wrists and spinning my eyeballs like I was 20 years ago! I feel very retro!"

A fine fork
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"Very good quality, simple and does the right thing. Provides a solid support and looks fantastic. Traded this for suspension and there are no regrets. Most of my riding is on the road or maintained trail so the rigid gives me more power and less weight."

Best option
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I've used my hardtail as an all-purpose/touring bike for years, and had had enough of the energy-wasting 'bounce' when climbing out of the saddle. Couldn't track down a 'Project 2' replacement fork so went for the Salsa. It seemed a bit heavy until I weighed it against the sus forks and found it was 50% lighter! It's nicely put together, well finished and has made an unbelievable difference to the feel of the bike. Gloss black goes with pretty much anything, although a few colour choices would be good. Also would be good if they made a V-brake only version, without the disc brake mount, but it's no big deal, and gives the option. Seems like good value, so all-in-all, I'm very pleased and impressed."

Fantastic fork for the money
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality
"This is a wicked fork. Sexy, black, stainless dropouts. The cantilever bosses were not really wanted but you can't beat this for value of money. I removed the cantilever posts and cut the fork down. It's awesome."

Pros: Durable, Attractive, Lightweight
"Much better in the flesh. Beautifully made forks — the photo listed doesn't do them justice — the ends are separate and different to the legs and all the better for it. Riding — is light and compliant. I'm not sure the paint will stay on all that long, a few light scratches already but who cares about that on an MTB. A good fork and well worth the money."

Comfortable for a rigid fork
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, Versatile, Good Fit
"This fork fits as it should. It is light and has really helped the handling of my medium sized Salsa ala carte. Lots of clearence to run tall tyres and guards, and best of all with the tyre pressure set in the midle of the range it provides a reasonable ride. The fork soaks up a lot of the cycle path joins which would normally be transferred through to the rider.
Great value fork, it fits and improves the handling.

Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Rugged, Lightweight, rigid!
"I just took delivery of one stunning set of forks. These were to replace a pair of Rock Shox Jett suspension forks with 65mm of travel and 7-15mm of sag. They must have been cumulative as Surly's 1x1 forks resulted in pedal strike on my first ride (413mm centre-to-crown).
I think the Rock Shox Jett measured 17.5 inches from centre of fork tip to fork crown seat (measured vertically parralel to the fork tip and the fork crown)
So, either Rock Shox Jett were an unusually long set of forks and 65mm of travel will generally be overcome with Surly's 1X1 forks, or you need 425mm to replace 65mm of travel on a fork.
The ugly pic tyou see ogf these forks is out of date. Now they are black with a discrete chilli symbol on one fork blade. The fork tips are also now stainless steel and stamped Salsa and are reversed. The butting of the tube was changed too I read somewhere else.
TIP: get your bike's fork to crown measurement, take account of sag once you are sitting on your bike and your suspension comes into play - see the web, there's a way to measure it with cable ties. Otherwise, your fork may be too long and change the headtube angle. Read up on it."

Handy for converting an old MTB into a commuter
Pros: Durable, Good Fit, Lightweight
"Used to convert a 10 year old mountain bike with suspension forks into a day to day road commuter. Advantages of these forks compared to the original fit suspension forks are their lighter weight, no 'bounce' when standing on the pedals and climbing up hill and I also managed to fit full length mud-guards to them after some minor modifications to the mud-guard fitting kit.
Used for over 4000 km now with no issues. Recommended."

Beautiful Forks
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"Bought these to replace suspension forks on my dirt jump bike as I ride a fair few hills and wanted a lighter bike.
These forks are incredibly light, but haven't compromised on strength. There's no bob as I ride up hills meaning it's quicker and easier to ride.
Some people complain about stress in their arms with rigid forks, but that's a problem with the rider not bending their arms properly as they ride.
Definitely recommend these forks for any road or dirt riding."
