"kept the water out on the torrential days, easy to fit and tons of space for a two week tour. the little clips at the bottom broke when i crashed but then the whole front wheel looked like a concertina too so nothing too surprising there"

Perfect for me
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable
"Having finally worn out my very old "Halfraud's" panniers I wanted a replacement that was easy to attach and detach; would hold enough for a 3 to 4 day tour; ideally were waterproof; would fit on my old but standard rack and didn't cost the proverbial "arm and a leg". Well these, so far, have ticked almost all the boxes. I say almost because I have been lucky in that there hasn't been any more than a short and very slight shower (everything stayed dry) during my rides so I can't yet be sure about the waterproof bit. These, of course, being German made are very good quality and after being subjected to all that a British Rail baggage car can offer, came up looking like new after a quick wipe down following the manufacturer's instructions. If what you're looking for in a set of panniers matches my requirements, then these are the ones for you too."

Good Storage
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality
Cons: Limited Color Choices, tricky to get to fit properly
"These are quality panniers, well made and tough and sturdy. Fittings need quite a bit of playing with to stop them flying off, but once done a very reliable piece of luggage."

Quality product
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: Not Enough Features
"One of the best moves I made for my commute was to remove the weight from my back to my bike. These panniers are ideal my commute and I also used them for my recent charity bike ride from North to South Wales (202 miles). They didn't move let alone come off over the whole trip.
They are easily attachable and have a top pocket which is easily accessible.
The cons are that it is pretty basic and one or two more external pockets wouldn't go a miss."

A pair of decent panniers under £50, bargain!
Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit, easy to use
Cons: lack of pockets, limited reflective strips
"I've been using these most days for the last 3 weeks or so for my "commute" (a very roundabout journey to get sufficient time on the bike to make a difference to my fitness levels) to and from work. They are plenty big enough to use together for even a weeks worth of lunch and Coke, and a couple of shirts and a pair of shoes and trousers. They seem well made, reasonably tough material and easy and secure to fit to my rack. They might not be any good for a serious expedition, but for going to and form work on road they are absolutely fine; although they might need a plastic bag inside in the winter, not sure how waterproof they are yet.
Frankly I can't see why one would buy the more expensive Altura Dryline products as these seem to do the job perfectly well at less than half the price.
The downsides are the tiny reflective strip on the back of the pannier with a little loop for a reflector/light (NB: not the rather more substantial plastic bracket shown on the photo). I might try and solve this with a bit of reflective tape (but not an urgent issue till about October). Also the lack of a decent outside pocket. My last pannier (inherited from my wife) had 2 pockets on the outside, and one on the lid this was a very convenient arrangement as it meant that one could keep bike spares and tools in one pocket and keys in another and still have one spare for small things that you might not want to get lost in the main compartment. Frankly both minor niggles when one considers the incredible value these represent.

Good quality and great value
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality
"Excellent value for money and good capacity, havent used in the wet yet so cannot vouch for whether they are waterproof.
Fittings could be a little more secure but easy to attach and detach. Could do with easier adjustment.
Look good and very practical."

Good allrounder
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I'm very happy with the panniers, very easy to use on the 3 different pannier racks we have. Quick to fix and easy to remove and use as hand luggage. I like the popper to hold the 2 bags together. The only downside is the large plastic clip for holding the pannier to the rack stays, I dont generally like plastic fittings and fear they may break at some point. They are also a little bit smaller than I would have liked."

Cheap and cheerful
"Being my first set of panniers, I don't have anything to compare it to. I am aware of the build quality of the more expensive Ortlieb brand, but wanted to stay away from anything too cheap. This seemed to fit the bill, especially as I was looking for a double pannier set.
Most of the time when I'm in town I use just 1 of the pair, and find it can fit anything a casual day asks of it. The clips make it easy to attach / detach easily (though I'm guessing this is standard on all panniers). It also has a small handle on top you can use to carry it like a shopping bag.
I have ridden in moderate rain for 15 minutes and found no leakage inside. Nevertheless I will continue to wrap sensitive items in plastic just to be sure.
The only problem I have with this bag is the fact that the canvas material ripped (a small hole) after a fall at a low speed (10mph). But in the bags' defense it was packed up quite tightly.
Not a bad bit of kit to have, but dont pack it up too much."

great little saddle bags
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
"ive used these several times now and they've not let me down yet. they're not the biggest, but its surprising what you can pack into them, the adjustable straps to close the lid really allow for a few extra items to be squeezed in. They're really simple to fit / remove and as yet, haven't came loose or come off when i didnt want them to. The zipped pockets on the top are really handy for maps, phones, keys etc, but i would put anything you dont want to get wet in a sealable plastic bag since the panniers are rainproof but not fully waterproof. TIP: I find that packing your gear into a plastic bag then packing that into your panniers is a simple way to keep your gear dry, without paying extra for fully 'monsoon proof' kit bags. There are cheaper panniers out there, but at around 40 quid a pair, these are not that expensive, and the quality of the fasteners, clips and zips etc are really good and sturdy, so wont break off easily. overall, i'm giving them 4 out of 5, since they probably could have been slightly cheaper, or had an extra pocket or two."

Great value panniers
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality
"I originally ordered the Deuter Rack Pack Uni panniers, as I have had great experiences with Deuter rucksacks, but after a month waiting for them to come back into stock ("will be dispatched in 2-7 days" was the status for 3 weeks) I went with these.
Happy with the purchase so far, these are the first panniers I have ever bought, and use them for commuting. Probably not waterproof like an ortlieb for example, but I use a small dry-bag inside to keep my clothes dry anyway, and my lunch goes in a plastic carried bag. Totally sufficient for my needs. Easily fitted, no heel strike, and clips securely to the rack I have (generic thing). Nice little pocket on top for keys, tools etc save having to go searching down in the bottom of the bag.

Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile, lots of space!

Decent enough for the price
Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Not Enough Features, Poor Fit, Unadjustable
"I bought these for a recent week long tour. I didn't carry any heavy stuff (eg tent) as we stayed in hotels. Not waterproof, but to be fair, Altura don't claim that they are. Worth investing in some covers or liners. The main issue for me was the lack of adjustability for the lower securing points. I fitted them to a rack with additional pannier rails so that I could also use a rack bag. This made the lateral fixing clip too low to attach to the rack & I had to use cable ties as make shift clips. The clips need some vertical adjustment but otherwise they performed well."
