WOW -- great rims!!!!Beat my expectations
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: need to adjust hubs regularly to get best "spin"
"I have owned these rims for over a year now. Originally purchased these as a set of training wheels but have ended up using them regularly for hilly /mountain rides and climbs. Rims are robust, tough and light. Worth every $$. Initially i had some trouble adjusting the rear hub cone bearings as they where a little "tight". Having serviced the hubs a few times now, i find that using a light grease is best (Finish Line, Teflon is my pref as is thin and keeps water etc out).
Rims spin up nicely and feels if weight is distributed mostly in the centre of wheel. Free wheel is quiet - I personally like the silence of not having a "click-clicking" of the Mavic Hubs.
Originally at purchase time, i saw a number of reviews suggesting that the walls are too thin and my restrict life. I have done over 8000k with the wheels and have not seen excessive wear that reduced the life of the rim, despite many many descents. (I have keep rims and brakes clean from muck and aluminum fillings/chips to maximize life)."

Fast & Reliable
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"Used these wheels for the first time in a big ride in the Ronde Van Vlaanderen Sportive 2010 in super wet muddy conditions. These wheels were excellent. I rode these with Vittoria 24" Pave tires at 90 PSI and had zero problems all day. On desents while free-wheeling these wheels were fast, easily outpacing riders just infront. The wheels feel very stable and gave an excellent ride over the pave with no sign of the wheels coming out of true. Very, very good value for money for a very high quality set of wheels."

Dura Ace 7850 CL
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight
"WOW these are seriously light!!
Just put these on the focus cayo after a year running RS 10s (which at their price point I would thoroughly recommend).
You really can feel a difference however between the two sets, I've just done my usual 30 mile training ride and found these not only more responsive at the off but noticeably quicker or less effort on the climbs (than the RS 10).
I think the biggest difference probably comes from the hub as when spun next to the RS 10 you can clearly see the Dura Ace spinning consistently for longer as their is clearly less friction in the hub.
Obviously time will tell as to how durable they are but I am extemely pleased with these wheels and would thoroughly recommend to anyone else.
Thanks again Wiggle for a quality service and product delivered in only a couple of days."

Sublime...!
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"I'm used to writing fairly lengthy reviews about the products I buy.
On this occasion, I'm not going to bother.
The reason being is that everything I want to say has been said before. These wheels really are the very best that money can buy!
Sure, the skewers are heavy, but that is the only negative regarding these wheels.
The wheels do come with rim tape; it's the blue high pressure coating on the outside of the rim. Whoever said they don't, doesn't know what they are looking for.
I have used my Dura-Ace's on circuit races, hill climbs, 70 mile efforts, low mile TT's and countless training rides. And on "every" occasion they have done me proud. I can honestly say that pound or pound, there is no better wheel out there.
I do believe that there is no scenario that the Dura-Ace's can let you down.
They are robust, light, strong, agile, silky smooth and wear extremely well. All in all, I'm very happy with them.
Believe the hype, believe the reviews, and believe the positive glowing comments. It's all true!
My only complaint is I should have brought two sets and not one.
Closing statement: -
Every now and again, a manufacturer gets one product absolutely 100% spot on. Perfect in every way. Shimano has done that in my opinion with theses wheels. Totally flawless, totally perfect!
Thank you Shimano..."

the wheels do it all
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
"Well as you can see by the other reviews here, this wheelset does it all. Recently I'd seen photos of Rabobank's sprinter Graeme Brown, riding on a set of these in the Jayco Bay Crit. Obviously the team is sponsered by Shimano, however he choose to ride these over the 50mm full carbon Clinchers/Tubulars - does that say enough? They are light and lively, the bulk of their weight is at the hub so there is less 'rational' weight therefore less effort you're legs need to spin/hold these wheels at top speed. Keep in mind rim tape needs to be use and the skewers provided are not exactly 'lightweight' - I would suggest purchasing KCNC skewers which come in at about 50grams for a set. Best tyres for these would be the Open Corsa or Pro3 Race's for race day and Gatorskins for training. These wheels are extermely great value as a 'all round' wheelset, they come with a 3 year warranty from Shimano and free wheel bags as a added bonus - Happy riding!"

Great Wheels for the Price
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Lightweight
"OK, these were an upgrade from an ageing set of 105 wheels and therefore did not have much to do to be an improvement but what a difference ! Stiff yet comfortable. Great when accelerating or climbing (easily beating previous efforts). Time will tell on their longevity but hey, when your having this much fun, who cares. Mated to a DA cassette and with Mich Pro3 Race tyres they are easy to change out with my old wheelset (still used in wet conditions). Delivery came well within time and boxing was very secure."

Believe the hype
"This is a seriously good wheelset. Nothing beats the thrill of the ‘skating on ice’ feel of the first ride on a better set of wheels. I experienced it a few years ago on the wheels these ones replace (Mavic Ksyrium SL) and it happened again today. These wheels are way better. With the supplied 60g skewers the total weight of the set is 142g less than the Mavics with their supplied skewers. They say the rims are very light with relatively more weight in the hubs and given their fast acceleration and feel in the hills I would agree.
These were to be dry weather only wheels because the break surfaces are quite thin and once the wear indicator has gone so have the rims. I set off in perfect weather but I was overrun by a cold front. I can tell you these wheels were superb on the flat, on hill climbs and on fast descents, in vicious gusty head and cross winds and yes, in rain. New Dura-Ace break pads probably helped but breaking was astonishingly good even in the wet. The very light rims and low spoke count make for very low rotational inertia. Shimano recommends against using their aggressive break pads unless you are prepared to wear the rims quickly. I can’t believe anyone would need more aggressive pads than the standard ones I used.
It was on the down hills that I really noticed the stiffness and precision of the wheelset. Descending has been my weakness since a nasty crash and a horrible near miss a few years ago. But these wheels were incredible with no hint of flex or wobble. I was descending way faster and with confidence I have not had for years.
The rims are an engineering marvel. The light carbon fibre component not only gives great strength but on the fly with a tail wind there is a hint of the unmistakable and seductive roar of a carbon wheelset. I love that sound! The 24 mm rims are ideal for the races I do where nearly all races are won and lost on hills. There are few flat courses or long breakaways where the C50s would be better. Sure the C24 rims are not aero but they are much more aerodynamic than the sharp edged box shape of the Ksyriums.
The spoke count is low and the amazingly thin spokes are under huge tension. My near miss was when an idiot’s pedal and my front Ksyrium contacted on a fast descent. The indestructible Mavic had a slightly bent spoke and nothing more. I doubt the Dura-Ace wheel or I would survive another contact like that.
The free hub has a nice zing and yes, it is very ‘free’. I was always disappointed with the free hub on the Mavics which was far too grippy despite me stripping it down and re-oiling it every season. I could feel excessive deceleration when free wheeling with the Mavics but not with these. On the stand the Dura-Ace free hub develops an unpleasant rattle as the wheel slows. I can’t hear it on the road and I hope it will stop once they have done some more k’s. The free hub engages noticeably faster than other hubs I have used which I like.
So believe the hype. These are high performance clincher race wheels at a great price. Shimano know their stuff and these wheels are well built and priced. The list price is less than the Ksyriums were a few years ago and of course Wiggle’s price was unbeatable. My special occasion Zipp 303 tubular ‘killer wheels’ might spend more time bagged up than they used to."

But them !
Pros: worthy, excelent value
"Its true, lighter rotational weight makes a difference in time over
distance and up inclines. Every ride I am faced with a 10% grade to
get home and its so much easier and faster on the DuraAce wheels.
I noticed I was 15mins faster over 60 kms immediately.
Might point out that I had upgraded from Mavic Aksiums,
DuraAce are over half a kilo lighter per set :) Great Value!

Very Happy
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
"I've been using these wheels for both training and racing and can't fault them. They are quite stiff, roll well, light (good for the climbs) and strong. I have ridden them on some pretty rough roads and they still remain true. Would definately buy again!"

Shimano 7850 Clinchers
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Versatile
"After smashing my last set of wheels in an accident, finally decided to get some decent wheels. The Shimano 7850 laminate carbon have had great reviews on line so I was keen to try them myself. They are a smart looking wheelset and run and break smooth. These are not the lightest wheels on the market but are a good all round performance wheel that is strong yet have good rolling speed. I weigh just on 90Kg so strength was preferrable to weight for me and these wheels have so far performed well."

Great set of wheels
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight
"I ruminated over this purchase for some months, as my new bike with new Shimano R500 wheels didn't really have to have upgraded wheels.
However, the wheels were ordered, and arrived within 6 days. The 7850's came well packed, with wheel bags and skewers, and were perfectly true. I fitted them myself with no problems. There was an immediate improvement in rolling performance, better acceleration out of roundabouts (much easier keeping up on fast group rides), and much improved hillclimbing up Mt Lofty. As the previous wheels weighed around 1880g, the 400g weight saving was noticable. Early days yet, but all round a great set of wheels so far.

strong yet lightweight wheels
Pros: Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, remain true
"these are the best wheels I've owned - stiff, strong, fast and light. They are still completely true, after many miles over a year's use and mostly on lanes and often poor surfaces. Highly recomended."

Best All Round Wheels
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"I replaced a set on Mavic Aksium Race wheels with the CL24s. The most obvious difference was the weight, and the way the wheels spooled up so quickly when needed. I just did a 120Km ride through very undulating terrain in very bad weather and these wheels made climbing and descending so much easier. My average speed for the distace improved by 3Km/hour from last year. I am certain that some of the improvement was from being in better condition, but much of it was the way the CL 24s performed.
They look so good and work so well. I will be using the same wheels to race on. They are a great buy."

Feels like a new bike
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Lightweight
"I wasn't too sure about the reviews saying these wheels produced an extra 2 or 3kmh to the normal crusing average speed - but its true. They are very light and you can feel the difference on the road. As well, the hubs spin freely and extremely smoothly, which obviously adds to the speed. There is a noticeable difference in the stiffness of the wheel and the impact it has on the ride - it does produce a slightly harsher ride. One other thing I have noticed, is that the wheels get blown around in the wind a bit more because I am not used ot the flat spokes - increasing overall flat surface area."

Great Allrounder
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"Ok so it's a long overdue review but ...
Over one year later and several thousand kilometers
-VERY LIGHT, great for climbing
-ACCELERATE like blazes in ANY gear
-still TRUE, haven't taken a wrench to them
-SMOOTH BUZZ from the DA hubs is music to the ears
-hopped gutters and still true
ME: 72KG + 7.5kg(bike) ,
100-150KM PER WEEK commute and fitness training
A great wheelset as a first upgrade on any bike
A+++ all the way, thoroughly recommended

Awesome buy
Pros: High Quality, stiff
"I did a lot of looking around before buying these wheels and they have been worth the effort. I have a few friends that use these wheels and they have no complaints at all.
I bought a pair of Dura Ace wheels 10years ago and they were brilliant. These wheels make me feel like I am cheating. Hill climbs are were I notice them the most they seem to hold their pace when under pressure. I am not a sprinter by any means however these wheels accelerate beautifully. Which is great when try to bridge across to breaks. If you are after an upgrade set of wheels that roll beautifully on the flats, accelerate like a dream in the sprints and power up hills you need to have a look at these.

Excellent wheels
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Lightweight
"I've done over 3000k on these wheels including a week in the Vic Alps.
They are superb both for ascents and descents.
Shimano have got these spot on and I would go as far to say these are the best wheels I've ridden on in 15 years.
Can't comment too much on their durability but they still run true and the hubs have needed no maintenance thus far. No sign of wear on the rims but as others have suggested keep em clean."

Great all purpose wheelset
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Lightweight, look good on my bike
"These were recommended to me by a friend who describes my riding as fairly ordinary. He told me I needed an UFA , ie., an unfair advantage, and, as drugs were out of the question, then a new wheelset could be the go.
My old wheels are a hand made set built by a local specialist. They were tight and responsive but the braking surface was a bit ordinary. As the price was very keen thanks to a good Aussie dollar I launched in.
I got my wheels in record time- from order to delivery in Australia 6 days! I couldn't believe it.
I haven't had them on my bike long. My experience is early but here is the review nevertheless.
These wheels were true and have stayed true for about 1000k despite some ordinary surfaces. With the tyres I have on them they provide a pleasant ride being less harsh than my old set and just a little spongier. They are lightweight and should be assisting me to climb (and maybe they would if I trained a bit more).
They look smic, handle well and should be durable. They are a good do all wheel. For the price they are a bargain!"

My Best Wheels
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"These are without a doubt the best wheels I have ridden. I have a Giant TCR road bike and I climb and sprint pretty well. These wheels have improved my performance in both these areas thru their lightness and responsiveness allowing terrific acceleration when required. It's not just the weight but the weight distribution which makes these wheels feel so snappy. I am currently using them with Continental GP 4000s tyres. A brilliant buy! Highly recommended."
