Symbolic for Speed:
Having already made the worlds lightest 10speed chain (X-SL series), KMC decided to produce a new cheaper L version.
Sharing a lot of the SL technology , the L is a perfect marriage of performance and budget. Made for any 9 or 10 speed systems in either Silver or Gold finish....

Campy users of the world unite...

"...you have nothing to lose but your chains. And this is a good thing, because no Campy chain means no Campy chain too, which means more cash in your pocket.
My point being that in order to change a £35 Campy chain you have to either get your local bike shop to do it, or purchase their hundred-odd-quid chain tool. Both these options seem equally absurd to me, but fortunately KMC have the answer with their replacement 10-speed chain. Given that a Shimano chain won't fit a Campy set-up and vice-versa, I was slightly sceptical as to how KMC could come up with a universal chain that fits both systems, but after carefully reading the product description to make sure I wasn't missing something, I decided to give it a shot.
And hey, guess what? It works fine. Better than fine in fact - up shifts feel slicker than with my original chain, it runs very quietly, the gold finish still looks good after a summer's use, and removing and replacing the chain using KMC's missing link system is easy peasy."

"Certainly easier to put on than a shimano although connecting clip was stiff possibly slightly bent. I suspect as others have suggested the gold bling will fade, even if you cleaned it after every ride."

"this chain lasted well .i didnt look after it as well as i should have, as its was on my training bike.it was seldom cleaned which isnt my normal practice.

"I bought the gold chain just for a bit of fun to bling up my bike. The chain is good quality and works well with my campy chorus cassette but the gold coating only lasted a very short time before it started wearing out. Now i've done about 4000kms on it and there is buggar all gold left. I wouldnt get it again unless my bike was in a fancy fashion shoot and needed something extra :)"

"Smooth, quiet running on Shimano groupsets. Easy to keep clean - just unclip the split link as often as you want, chain off and job done.
I got over 3,000 miles on a winter commute on my last KMC Gold and still lots of life left with no discrenable wear on cassette or chain rings - I now have KMC X10 gold on both bikes. Oh! and if you are into that sort of thing, it looks the absolute business!!"

replaced my campy 10 spd chain

"I bought this to replace my campy chain, along with a new campy cassette. Quite happy with the performance, changes are smooth and there are no problems. LOVE the gold on the bike (vanity getting in the way here). only con is that the chain was a bit tricky to attach. the special connecting link was really hard to connect - so much so I oubt I will take it off except to replace"

"When I opened the packet I thought that this might be a little too lary for me....gold chain, what was I thinking? So I put it on the road bike instead of the commuter based on some positive reviews elsewhere.
So far no problems, I don't notice it at all, changes are as crisp as dura-ace chain.
Best thing you can say about a chain is that you don't notice it when riding and this is true with this chain.
If you are a little nervous about making the switch from the shimano chain, then don't be, this is just as good and lighter."

Bike feels like new again

"I ride a Planet X full carbon bike with full Shimano Dura Ace kit. Replaced chain with this after a few thousand miles and was amazed. The bike felt like new again, really taught and responsive.
Made sure I adjusted chain to correct length. I had to take out about 3 links. Then using special quick fasten link was a piece of cake to join. Runs smooth and looks flash with gold colouring."

"I would not recommend this to anyone cause it doesn't work properly and not as smooth as hoped for. The gear-changes slams into place and I really done my best to have it run better but there are no chances of that happening. "this chain had some good reviews, and after a year with a clunky back-up sram I wanted something nicer for summer.
This works great on a 10 speed shimano cassette, however it takes a little more lube to shift cleanly and will definitely be getting changed for winter.

fitting it was a doddle, it has a standard connecting link, not had to take it off yet, but I assume it will be just as easy.
the box lube works for about 100 miles in dry weather, but is best topped up with some dry lube.
generally a very good chain"

"Superb chain, though a little expensive. I used one of these on my race bike last year, and have just replaced it.
I put the old race bike chain on my road bike and it still looks ace, and runs smoothly.
Gold coating does eventually show some wear, but hardly noticeable even after a full year of racing."
