Bright Eyes
Pros: Rugged, Versatile
Cons: none obvious
"I recently bought the Cateye LD610 specifically for my touring bike and have mounted it horizontally on the back of the bike rack using the Cateye Rear Carrier Mounting which I purchased at the same time. All works brilliantly -literally and figuratively. The light is very bright, suitable I believe even for day use and is noticeably brighter thatn the earlier Cateye LD 600 which I still have (in good order). The case seems quite robust, switch is easy to operate and a good range of opertaing modes. As yet I have not had it out in any serious rain for the ultimate test."

Pros: High Quality
"I could tell you about the way this light switches on. You've read that before. Or the sticky out bit on the bracket. Again, you know that. Instead I will tell you to buy some cheap cable ties to prevent the light bouncing off when riding rough stuff as the clip isn't too positive, but I've lost a few lights so this problem isn't restricted to this light and occasionally I fall off on the bumpy bits too. If you can handle taking out one of the batteries when carrying the light, cutting off the excess bracket, and cable tie-ing your light on when when off roading you will love this light. It's small, it's bright, what more do you want it to do? Best rear light I've ever owned."

Good visibility with plenty of features.
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Lightweight
"I've only had the light for a few weeks but generally I'm impressed with it's features and funcionality. The LED's are very bright and there are varying patterns briging your existence to the notice of other road users from a distance. Since using the light drivers do slow down more when approaching than when I rode in the summer months with no lights so for these winter months and wet road conditions this is a welcomed change!
I have the light fitted to my seat post, the fitting was easy and as I don't take the light often I can't see any issues with the strength of the clasp. I did find that in the horizontal position i caught the light a couple of times when climbing but positioned virtically there was no problem at all.
I've ridden in the wet a couple of times and as yet no water has got into the housing. I'll be sure to update this review if this changes!
I think for the price this is one of the brightest on the market. It's improtant to have a quality rear light and I don't think this one will let you down."

Essential safety red rear lighting system

Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, life saver, look a serious and competent cyclist
Cons: poor design of "on" switch
"It's war out there. Road-riders will know we daily have to dodge fools with steamed up windows, texting-multi-tasking motorists, a noisy cluttered urban environment, over-bright vehicle headlights and what ever weather nature throws at us.
The Cateye TL LD610 Rear Light (or equivalent) is essential safety equipment for a road cyclist who wants to remain uninjured and road legal.
This rear red light unit is impressively bright. I use mine in random single flashing mode, and in my opinion, even in this “low power consumption” setting, the highly engineered Cateye LEDs and optical mounting deliver noticeable and bright light output.
You have two single LED flash modes: A “nightrider” style scan or a random flash. The flashing effect helps make this small unit get you noticed.
And what further impresses me is that I’ve had mine for 1.5 years, using it without reservation daily, and I am still running acceptably with the factory supplied batteries (all included for a mere £17.99).
If the weather is wet or particularly poor, or you are in an aggressive road environment, you can switch up to 5 LED flash mode as well as 5 constant mode for strictly legal purposes.
The mount, which fits neatly on my seat post, is completely fine, and I believe you can buy spare mounts too. It has a “jog dial” type adjustment mechanism, and remains solid after insertion and removal hundreds of times.
Obviously don’t leave this valuable equipment on your bike when parked. (Thieves nicked my lead acid battery recently.) The quick release is firm enough for it to never have fallen off but you can remove it and slip it in to your shirt or jacket pocket with agility and ease.
You can deliberately angle the Cateye TL LD610 mounting to make full contact with car drivers’ eyes.
I’ve dropped mine once on concrete. The casing is still intact. I’ve crashed once with this on. We’re still on the road.
There’s just one niggle: The “on” switch is too easy to activate on in your pocket or ruck sack, so I carry mine in some “bubble wrap” to ease pressure off the switch. It would be helpful if Cateye made the “on” mechanism fail-safe like they have done with the “off” mechanism.
I’ve uploaded two pictures taken tonight of my unit in a typical modern urban street. Note that I’m using single LED random flash mode AND that I’m on my original batteries still after 1.5 years (and I’m starting to think its fuel-cell powered!). Pic1 is at about 15 meters and Pic2 is at about 30 meters. And if you can’t see that, Mr Learned Accident-Solicitor will be discussing the matter with you via The Courts.
Put new batteries in this baby, and you’re going to look like an American Police car in pursuit mode.
So don’t be a Ninja-cyclist: Get some decent lights like this unit, be safe and seen, and live long."

2,750 good reasons to use a light
Posted June 17, 2010
As a lawyer and rider I just discovered that drivers can fling their doors open fully and unexpectedly - cost to repair door (Peugeot 307 s/wagon) A$2,750.
If you don't have a light on your bike you are probably breaking a law or by-law and prima facie negligent if it's after sunset.
If this happens to you - check your home and contents policy to see whether you are covered for "personal liability". I did and am.

Very bright rear light
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Great rear light - good angle of viewing from side on too.
Just be careful with the plastic strap sticking out the side after you've tightened it as it really hurts when you fall off and gark your leg on it!
Could be trimmed off if you're not planning on moving it again...

Wiggle Service Awesome! Light pretty good too!
Pros: Lightweight, easy to attach
"Problem with light number one, Wiggle returned it to hassle free, amazing service.
Second light very good, very bright. Use it on the road and have had comments about how bright it is, to be fair use 3 different lights!"

Be Careful When Using in the Wet
Pros: Adjustable, bright
Cons: internals get wet
"I brought two of these in May 2011. One of them I have mainly when dry (it still works very well) and the other used frequently in the wet.
The one used when wet wasn't very waterproof compared to the LD600 I have. The inside gets wet and you must remember to remove the batteries to ensure the insides dry after being used in the wet.
This has caused the battery terminal at the deep end of the unit to rust and fall off. Prior to this the on off switch bacame a bit unreliable and the batteries seemed to discharge quire quickly.
My solution was to shove some aluminuim foil in the unit. It now works fine as long as I remember to dry it out after using it in the wet.

Powerful Light
Pros: powerful led
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"I wouldn't put myself as a real keen cyclist but I do cycle everyday to work in all weathers and all conditions, so for me it is important to have good lighting on my bike I have long been admirer of Cateye and therefore I was keen to purchase one for their durability and performance during the darkest of mornings and evenings. At the rear I originally went for a Cateye TL-LD600 which was recommended by a work colleague this unit comes with 5 LED’s of high power intensity a great light which can be seen from a distance of at least 15 metres the light worked well for a year or so that it just seem to give up the ghost. Thinking nothing of it I decided to purchase another one this however was more troublesome the unit seem to discharge one battery all the time so I was for every replacing batteries this continued for a month or so until it to decided to cease functioning. Because I was impressed so with the intensity of the light and reading the reviews on wiggle I decided to get the next model up and purchased two TL-LD610’s these were more powerful than the TL-LD600 and were equally impressive but it still seems to be bighted from the same design flaws as the TL-LD600 and again one of the two batteries suffers from early discharging while the other remains intact ( I do tend to buy good make batteries so I can’t believe it’s that) and the other one has a problem whereby when it is switched off it switches itself back on again about 8 seconds or so later. I thought maybe it originally was a one off problem but it still seems to continue in other models, it is a shame because other than that they are a good light."

"Having recently been witness to a very nasty biking accident involving a motor vehicle, I wanted to buy some lights to increase my own visibility on poor visibility days rather than extensive night riding. I bought this light following favourable bike mag reviews together with a Lezyne Power Drive for the frontt. The 5 x LEDs are very bright in all the various settings and I feel a lot more confident cars will see me now on those dull, gloomy winter days in the country. Definitely the right choice. Both lights are superb. Would recommend both"
