OK Baby Orion Child Seat

Front-fix seats, where your child is seated between your arms, can offer improved handling and a much nicer ride for you and your passenger than a rear-mounted seat. Visibility abd dialogue are increased and there is less chance of kicking your passenger when you get off! You also free up space to carry luggage on the rear rack. Make sure you have enough room on your bike to position the seat and pedal comfortably.

My son loves his cycle rides
Pros: Great Value, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable
Cons: cars cant see him from behind
"I got bought this product for fathers day, it took me a few weeks to get it fitted but it went on like a dream and my 1 year old son and I are off all the time on bike rides. We thought long and hard about the front or back mounted seat, there are pros and cons to each. On the front cars cant see him so I still get the idiots coming a little too close aqnd rear I cant see him and he cant see what I see. Definately better to have him in front as I can point things out and he can wave at oncoming traffic!!I I would recommend this to anyone."

Great price, decent product
Pros: Great Value, Good Fit
Cons: Unadjustable
"Not too difficult to fit, good price, decent quality. We fitted this on to my husband's bike but we're going to have to swap it and put it on my bike because he has massive bruises on his knees from where they keep hitting the seat when he's cycling. He's quite tall (6"1') but not abnormally so and even adjusting the saddle height etc on his bike hasn't helped with this so might be worth taking this into consideration if you are a very tall person and possibly getting a rear mounted seat instead."

excellent product
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I've used this a few times with my 7 month old and we both really enjoyed riding with it. Far easier to ride than with a rear mounted seat. It also feels safer and you can chat along with them. There is plenty of room for a bigger child as the foot supports move down as they grow. Great product and a good price - easy to fit."

gold dust
Pros: Great Value, Good Fit
Cons: won't fit some bikes
"Bought this after a very long search for a front mounted child seat based on the reviews and my scepticism of more expensive stem / handlebar mounted options. Fitting was easy, bracket bolts round the head tube and needs about 20mm clear tube between the top and down tube welds. So just fits my steel on-one inbred, but not my alu RM or the GF's Specialized Myka.
Fore and aft location is a compromise between handlebar and rider clearance, best to practise your flying mount / dismount or fit a short saddle right back on it's rails.
Son loves it.

Good first baby seat

Pros: Great Value, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Purchased this seat after seeing rear mounted OK Baby seats and wondered if they manufactured a front mounted seat.
The delivery was fast and before the expected date given.
The seat was easy to put together and all parts including fixing spanner are included. The seat when placed on my bike needed some extra modifications because of the lack of gap between the frame required, however purchased longer bolts and nuts from DIY outlet and these have worked a treat.
Took 10 month old daughter out on it last week for first time and she loved it. Ballast weight on the front takes a bit of getting used to however she could look around and play with the cycle bell on my handle bar. The lap bar on the chair is good as they can hold on to this.
Initial setting off and cycling with this seat on takes adjustment, however these are minor compared to the joy that you get out of it."

Great seat
Pros: Great Value, Lightweight
"Good little seat, you need enough space on the steering tube for to fit the seat. If not you need an additional bracket. It has a harness and a bar which hold the child in. The bar is great as you can secure the child straight away and worry about the feet straps later.
You do have to cycle with your knees apart a little but this isn't too much of a problem. The seat also has a quick release so you can take it off easily.
My little boy absolutely loves it. It also feels kind of safe having having him in front of you. Great little seat."

Fabulous fun when awake
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
"Completed 12 mile bike ride with baby on board. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The only problem is when he fell asleep his head was lolling everywhere so we bunjed his helmet to the frame to keep his head up and put a blanket round his neck. When he was awake it was perfect."

Good buy
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable
Cons: none
"I wanted to buy a chilld seat which fitted on the front of the bike (hybrid). The OK Baby Orion child seat was easy to assemble and fit. It took less than 30 mins. I compared quite a few seats in my local bike stores but none of them had the OK Baby Orion. The harness, additional bar (like in a roller coaster but not shown in picture) and seat padding is of very good quality.
No problems getting my 13 month old daughter in the seat and she loves it."

Great for baby
"We bought this seat so that we could go for rides with our 15 month old. He loves it, he can see around easily and doesn't get bored. Stability is good even when he wriggles about looking for his mummy.
Pros: good for communicating with your baby, baby sees more of what's going on, he feels protected with your arms around him. The seat is light so easy enough to cycle with.
Cons: You'll more than likely need the downtube adapter if you have a mountain bike, it's not too hard to fit but is a little fiddly to get adjusted just right. The seat position is such that it may interfere with your knees when cycling. The straps for holding babies feet in position and a good idea but took all of three seconds to be defeated by our son who insisted on taking them out once we started to move."

Good bike seat
Pros: Comfortable, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"This was a dream to fit and my 18 month old fits into it very nicely. Got it because I want to be able to take both kids on the bike at the same time and with this and a back bike seat it's entirely feasible.
The downside is you do have to cycle with your knees rather wide and your steering is a little constrained, but I didn't find I was squashed down over the bubba like some other reviewers.
He'll probably grow out of it within a year, but great for the time being."

Knees out, happy baby
Pros: Rugged, Adjustable, Good Fit
"Fitting was fairly easy. You need enough space on the steerer tube to allow the bracket to be clamped on. It felt a bit cramped with the seat on the middle position so I had to move it to the forward one. This removes a little bit of steering movement but since you won't be hammering along at speed with your precious child on board it probably doesn't matter. Knees get a bit splayed outwards but is not too uncomfortable. Weight distribution will be all on the front when passenger is on board so remember to plan your braking a bit better than usual. Little one loves it, plenty room in the seating area and even falls asleep."

Fantastic seat but ...
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: Bulky, Limited Color Choices
"I bought the seat to share the experience of riding around the beautiful counrtyside around Carlisle with my 18 month old daughter, and specifically wanted a front-mounting seat rather than the standard rear-mounted tyes so that she could chatter at me as I rode, and so that if the worse was to happen I would be in a position to provide some protection.
Despite being a little concerned about how I was going to fit this to my sporty little Ridgeback Genesis Day02, I managed to make it nice and snug using the bracket provided with the seat.
However, the geometry of the bike makes the seat a little intrusive on my riding position. For those of you that don't know how a Genesis is set up, imagine a sports road bike with straight handlebars instead of the dropped sports style. The seat is a little too high for the ideal positioning of the handlebars, and also means that I need to 'splay' my knees a little as I pedal. Having said that, the central position of the seat does help with the weight distribution.
But at the end of the day I would still rather have my little one in fornt of me and if a minor discomfort is the price to pay, then it is a small one when one considers the fantastic value for money these seat provides.
Overall it is a good quality product with an easy to adjust and fasted harness, and a removable, pivoting lap bar to provide a gripping point for the child as well as a little extra protection.
Fitting and setting up is easy, but I feel it would be worth Wiggle's time to include the space required (the suggested minimum dimensions are included on the packaging) for the fitting of the seat. once the bracket is fitted, the seat itself can be removed very quickly and replaced just as easily when needed again.
All round, a good product at a fantastic price, BUT, be aware of the compromise of riding position if you intend to fit it to a 'sportier' bike.

Baby loves it!
Pros: Great Value
"This is a great little seat. Our eight month old boy absolutely loves it and will happily ride along for about 90 minutes. He loves being in front and it feels nice and secure to have him in between your arms. The harness is fine and the bar that comes across is good and sturdy. We have taken him round the roads and also on some gentle trails. It is easy to clip the seat in and out of the clamp which means that i can leave the clamp on and just slot the seat in when i need to.
On my bike - a standard hard tail mountain bike - there is only just enough room for the seat and my knees. You do have to peddle a bit bandy legged but it is not too bad. Definitely worth the effort to see his smile!
Design problems - the clamp that comes with the seat will not fit most mountain bikes. I had to modify it to fit the steerer tube fitting much longer bolts. I see that you can by another clamp which fits in a different place. i would prefer to spend a few extra pounds on the product and have it include both clamps.
Overall - if you have a baby and you can ride a bike you should buy one of these.

Looks good, doesnt work
Cons: Low Quality, Poor Fit, Unadjustable
"I know this looks good and you can be swayed by the positive write ups about being closer to your child, being able to converse with them etc etc........unfortunately the instructions have been written by an alien who has seen neither a bike, nor the seat before."

Perfect seat for little one
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Comfortable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight
"Bought this seat for 11 month old and it suited himn perfectly. Because it's mounted in front of the rider they can see where they're going and get a nice feeling of speed (if they like that sort of thing). The seat itself is easy to install with clear instructions. Taller riders may find their knees brush the seat unless they change their stance slightly (legs wider apart)."

Excelent purchase !!
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality
"I have been very pleased with this child seat. I take my little on an hour ride very frequently and it is very comfortable it tends to take advantage from the fron bike suspension and itself has a bounce biult into the rod/bracket so all in all my child has a great ride withought feeling every bump on the road.
not to mention how she enjoys the uninterrupted front view.
