Brighten up your birthday!
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"If you’re lucky enough to have an imminent birthday and you’r e looking for a new front light to guide you through some winter nights then get an Exposure Race MaXx 2 on your wishlist and prepare to be dazzled.
I purchased mine after lots of geeky research and sounding out my most knowledgeable geeky friends and I haven’t been disappointed. I went for the Race MaXx rather than the Enduro MaXx as I am always happy to shave a little weight off and I was reluctant to spend significant extra dollar on a third LED if two were sufficient.
The beam from the Race MaXx, even on the “ride” setting is more than adequate to light up my city and country lane journey between work and home and on the MaXx setting I am confident off road and on the trails, although if you want to tackle anything extreme then you had better fork out for the 3 or 4 LED versions.
I use mine with the Exposure Red Eye light and I feel that there is little more that I can do to make myself more visible to traffic on the roads, even on an overcast day. Pay close attention to the activation instructions when you connect the two light together or the red eye will emit a feeble glow rather than the searing red light that it belts out if you do as you’re told.
The engineering quality is superb and although the “smart port” is not as smart as it sounds (you can only connect the red eye OR a remote switch OR a piggyback battery) I have not let this detract from the overall rating as it is easy enough to operate the light without the remote and the burn times are easily enough for my 30km commute or a couple of hours blast on the trails.
The final feelgood factor with your purchase is that it arrives in a very smart padded case which will probably sit in a drawer unless you have the inclination to carefully pack the light away after each use and you’d be better off spending the time on the bike!"

WOW WOW WOW
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"Firstly let me say I would never consider buying a front light for £230 but with the current discount these are simply great value for the level of performance at £161 !!!!
When they arrived they went straight on charge as I fitted the handlebar mount. A few hours later I ventured out !! Straight out of my road there is a narrow public footpath and I was able to go flying down there, the way ahead lit as if by car headlights. First impressions were WOW... I like these lights !!!
A couple of miles on I venture into the Park for some of my favourite trails. Again I wasn't dissapointed, these are trails I would normally be tiptoeing along at night with my old lights but now I was able to go for a full blown blast, only slowed down by the terrain, not my inability to see what was ahead.
Back on the road and in lit areas, the ride, enduro and flash modes are more than enough, saving the MAX setting for proper off road. Although having said that it's nice to be able to get your own back on inconsiderate car drivers and dazzle them with your own "full beam".
Did a big ride with my friends last night and they awere all impressed too !! They were riding close on my wheel so I could light their way ahead too!!
What's not to like about these, lightweight, tough, powerful, easy to use and they look great.
These fantastic lights are going to give me many happy hours of night riding through the dark winter months."

Smugly satisfied
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, self contained, external booster battery available
Cons: Expensive, doesn't take standard batteries
"Having on entered the world of MTB relatively recently, I was surprised by how much extra light you need, compared to a road bike, when you're in the woods (There's less ambient light from houses, lamposts etc)
I briefly investigated the cheap torch route (But not, unfortunately, the high end torches, such as P7s) and got some reasonable results. The niggle factor, for me, with torches, was that the sturdiness and convenience of mounting them on the handlebars wasn't quite there.
Well, thanks to a well timed birthday present from my wife (Just in time for the Bontrager 24/12 event), an Exposure Race Maxx 2 took up residence on my handlebars, and I've never looked back (Well the whole point of lights is to look forward, right?)
The unit has the batteries built in, so there are no cables trailing anywhere, the control switch is easy to get to, and includes a smart power status/mode indicator. The mounting bracket is rock solid, but allows the unit to be removed in the blink of an eye, without tools.
No that the darker nights are here, I'm getting to use it in anger and am even more impressed than I was at 24/12 - where there was a lot of light from other other riders, causing the effectiveness of my light to be underappreciated. I've now discovered a whole new side to mountain biking - blasting round the woods like a loony, in the dark.
I only wish that my local deer appreciated this light as much as I do!"

Now I can ride "fast" at night....
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
"Used this a few times now. After being intitially (and only slightly) unimpressed when riding under street lights or not in complete darkness, once you're riding out of town and down the country lanes this baby really comes into it's own!
The unit gives a good spread of light and allows me to ride at my normal speed on my road racer, something cheaper & weaker lights couldn't, so it gets a solid "thumbs up" from me. Burn times are plenty for my riding (3 hrs at max setting) and also I don't have a massive problem with using the onboard dim switch when on the move (I find cars flash me otherwise - nice change!) This might become fiddly with winter gloves but, if it does cause a problem, I'll just get the nifty remote switch accessory and stick in the SmartPort...
Got this at a great reduced price thru Wiggle, although I really wanted the new Strada but couldn't justify the extra cost. Glad I didn't go for the more expensive option now as this is a brilliant package in it's own right....might just get a Joystick to go on the helmet at some point to give even more directional illumination (but don't tell the missus...)"

Great commuting light
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, simple
"I had been searching for a high-output light for my 10 mile commute for ages. The Exposure Race MaXx 2 light has met and exceeded all my expectations.
Firstly, there is no bulky additional battery to fix to the bike - it is in the light body which is compact and lightweight. Secondly, it gives a great output from the 2 LEDs which massively boosts my confidence to see and be seen by other road users. Thirdly, a bonus, is the smart port into which I am able to plug and power an Exposure Red Eye rear light which is just as fantastic.
The only slight niggle is that from time to time, I have to tighten the fixing that fits the light into the handlebar clamp as it seems to loosen with the road vibrations.
All in all a superb product, provided by a quick and reliable service."

Bargain light
Pros: Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile
"After looking around endlessly for a light setup powerful enough to use on unlit roads i came across this. Best £160 i've spent! To be honest i'd still have been happy if i'paid full price.
Excellent quality bracket and easy to use quick release set up that holds the light unit really securely. In use on full power it gives a good spread of light with a good range and enough power to use on unlit roads and still be able to keep up a good pace. The flash mode is unbelievable, more like a strobe light!
Overall highly recommended light for road use .

Brilliant
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, extremely bright
"This is an amazing light - everything works so well. So far I have only needed to use the "flash" mode. This is more of a pulse than a flash, because the light stays on in "low" mode, and about once per second there is a very bright pulse. It's practically impossible not to be seen form the front. I even use it in daylight.
It's very solid and well-built (though perhaps not that attractive - but who cares?). The clamp is alloy, not plastic, and is very solid - there is no rattle whatsoever - and the light attaches and releases easily. It doesn't take up much space on the handlebar. Switch is easy to use. No wires! No Velcro straps!
A very well designed and built piece of equipment - highly recommended.

Lead the night pelton. Like it or not
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"A word of caution first!
If you don’t like to lead then buy a dimmer light!
Since buying this Exposure Race Maxx 2 I have found all my friends swarming round me like flys round **** in the dark. Always just behind using me as the guide. Only going past me as far as the beam allows before dropping back behind the safety of the light.
Makes me feel like I’m doing a good ride until the sun comes up.
If you want good vision from a light this is quite simply the mutts nutts."

Awesome light
Pros: Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged, light output, battery life.
Cons: Expensive
"This is amazing! I've had 2 cateye lights prior to this, most recently the singleshot plus which was ok but the mounting kept breaking. This light is very high quality and unlike other lights with this sort of output doesn't need a seperate battery pack. The light it puts out on high has to be seen to be beleived, you can ride as fast as you like on totally unlit roads with no problem at all. I combined it with the remote switch so I can dip the light for lit sections of road so conserve battery. I must say I think the previous lights I had were total false economy, especially here £70 off. The 2010 version has just won the cycling + magazine light group test.
If you ride unlit road you will love this."

Exposure Race MaXx 2
Pros: Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"I was unsure about spending anything like this amount on a light for a moutain bike but after buying countless cheap lights and being left in the dark I thought it was time to splash out!
It was worth it this lamp is the perfect light for all riding even fairly technical sections are made so much safer and with the battery life that is offered you'll never be caught out.
Simple full, half, low and flash mean u can quickly select the right setting and the fuel guage gives you extra re-assurance that you have plenty of juice left.
Apart from the output of this lamp the best feature is the dove-tailed mouting it is so quick to take off and on, and yet so secure it leaves you in no doubt that it is on safely.

Fantastic light!!!!
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Good Fit, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Expensive
"Excellent light, light weight and very, very bright. Handle bar clamp well made.
I bought this for the road but have used it off road and on mountain roads. Excellent bright enough for the trail.
Very neat, no extra batteries hanging out.
When used on road, put in flash mode, you get seen miles away!!
only slight niggle i have with it, takes 8 hours to charge fully."

Compact and bright
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight
Cons: Expensive
"This little beauty packs quite a punch for it's light weight and diminutive size. It's deceptively small and quite versatile. I've got it mounted to the handlebars and it lights up the darkest paths with ease. The beam pattern is very good as itprojects lights a long way ahead but also a reasonable amount to the sides as well. I typically travel at 30km/h and have it angled down to focus about 10 metres ahead to avoid dazzling oncoming riders/traffic and this works well.
Attaching the unit t was fairly straightforward, although the adjustment screw for the horizontal angle is a bit fiddly and needs to be quite tight to keep the light firmly in place. Out of the box it wasn't tight enough and I could pivot the light left and right fairly easily but a good bump on the track would also move it, which is less then desirable.
I can't vouch for battery life as I haven't pushed it anywhere near it's claimed times of 3, 10 and 24 hours on high, medium and low. I mainly use it on flash during the day and then on high when it gets dark. My commute is just over half an hour each way. Recharging each night helps prolong the life on even these high-end batteries. Operation via the button is a bit fiddly and is less than ideal but is not a show-stopper.
The RRP price of the unit is quite high for it's rated output and battery life, but the generous discount on Wiggle makes it quite an attractive option."

outstanding product
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Great Value, High Quality
"I will admit I was a bit sceptical at the idea of spending £160 on a bike light, especially this being for the front light only (connectable rear light available for approximately £30). I have previously only spent around £40 for a front light, and whilst for this price the lighting is more to enable you to be seen than to light up the road at anything other than a slow pace, I became fed up of what felt like a lighting comprimise and decided to take the plunge with this product.
Was such an outlay worthwhile? quite simply - absolutely!
I use the light on my focus lost lagoon hybrid bike (also reviewed on wiggle) which is a very quick bike, and even at top speeds in areas of complete darkness, whether on or off road, unclear vision is a thing of the past.
Although this is a lot of money for a light, I do believe that the significantly increased benefits in safety for seeing and being seen are definately worth the outlay.
To top this off a rear light is also available (also available on wiggle), which is equally outstanding, and I feel is outragiously cheap for the light quality it provides (approximately £30).
All in all a great product which I cannot recommend enough - I will never need another light upgrade!"

Excellent product, even at the price I paid
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"Now coming in at around £160, almost makes these a steal.
Got mine last year in October so have used it extensively for winter commuting where it's been faultless. I also have a Joystick Maxx for maximum versatility.
Not had a problem with the mounting bracket rattling even on some 5 + hour overnight off road rides on the South Downs. I'm not very quick off road so the light pattern has been fine for my speed and abilities.
Twisty singletrack in woods might want more power but then you could look at the Enduro.
I also have a 3 cell Piggyback and have had some minor issues with the connectors. - Haven't decided if it's the Piggyback jack yet.
In conclusion they're not overly cheap but they're compact, idiot proof and high quality. Oh and USE are based in Sussex :-)"

Great Road Riding Light
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Lightweight, bright, cable free
"I got this light to replace my rather bulky Electron lights. The first thing that hits you is the compact size and the lack of power cables. The next thing you spot is the excellent build quality. The first time you turn the light on after charging you will be amazed by the brightness!
Whilst expensive, I think it's worth it, and much cheaper than similar spec. lights.
Only slight downside is the switch, and It can be difficult to switch off, but this gets less of a problem with practice.
A top light and well worth the money. So much better than lights of a similar price, without the power cable mess. British quality at its best!"

Now they see me!
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: Limited Color Choices, Unadjustable
"Switched from using a 'be seen' light to this product. Now all I have to worry about is 'dazzling' pedestrians and motorists. Much more comfortable with worrying about this than "have they seen me' or 'where's is the next pothole'.
Light fits easily and despite its size, discreetly under the bars of the road bike. Recharges fully overnight or if in a rush 2 hours to 90% from empty. Only complaint is that the light rattles as a result of the light / mounting bracket fixing - it's a metal to metal interface that allows some movement of the light under vibration."

Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"The only problem with this item was that I bought it in the middle of summer so had to wait until 10 pm to go out and test it!
Tested it on a familiar local trail with some fairly hairy downhills and it performed better than i had expected.
It is slightly smaller than I had gathered from the photo's and comes in a snazzy carry case with everything else you need. it can be removed from its bracket with great ease too.
The light beam was fairly wide and more than sufficeint to tackle some fairly testing offroad downhill. Even when it is in flashing mode it provides you with more than enough light to get you out of trouble.
