Torq Gel with Guarana
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, effective
Cons: Expensive
"Have previously used SIS Go-Gel, which has worked well over long distances.
However, I've now been converted to this Torq version for several reasons.
Firstly, being more concentrated, the sachets are smaller and therefore easier to cram into the tiny back pocket of my shorts.
Secondly, the addition of the guarana/caffeine really does seem to make a difference when I'm starting to flag towards the end of a half marathon. The formulation of maltodextrin, fructose and the equivalent caffeine of a strong cup of coffee seems to kick-in after about 5 minutes for me. Being more concentrated though, I do find I need a small swig of water as well just to clear my mouth, so try and time it just before a water station.
As with most sachets though, I find them slightly fiddly to open, and unlike some people who can open them with their teeth, I have to use both hands, so obviously have to stop if I'm using them on a long cycle ride/sportive.

"Having tried the other youghurt flavours, I decided to go for forest fruits. Personally don't think they are as nice to tast but still compare well with SIS or any other gels - the Strawberry and black cherry yog flavours are just the nicest by a distance. Definately need water to wash down otherwise its a bit if a struggle but very pleased with my purchase. The wife's started pinching them as well so won't be long before I need another box!"

One of the better gels out there....
Pros: High Quality, effective
Cons: not cheap but gels rarely are!
"I carry a couple of gels for rides of 2 hours or more and have tried most of the leading brands, including Torq, SiS, ZipVit etc. Whilst not all of the Torq stuff suits me (not a fan of some of the energy drink flavours) these gels are the best I have used.
The taste and consistency is far easier to swallow than most, (the strawberry yoghurt flavour in particular is great). Whilst the fruits of the forest flavour is perhaps not quite as easy to swallow as the Sis Go Gel orange flavour and feels a little thicker, I think it packs more of a punch in delivering fast energy and makes a great emergency gel due to the caffiene / guarana content giving an almost instant hit. If you can imagine the taste of the topping from a shop-bought cheesecake, your somewhere near!
I have found them great for an extra 20-30 minutes of energy, just enough to get you home or to the next feed station, but definitely enough to stave off the dreaded 'bonk'!"

Torq gels = top fuel
Pros: High Quality
"I am a type 2 diabetic. I have to be really careful with my fuelling as the wrong sugars can cause me great discomfort and basically makes riding a misery.
Torq gels are the only products that enable me to fuel quickly and easily on the go and without making my life impossible.
After commuting 200 miles in the week, I sometimes pop a gel on a Friday afternoon for the ride home. I can honestly feel the sugar getting to where it is needed, both legs and brain !!
On a decent audax I take them as emergency fuel too.
On a fast cyclo sportive last year I used 4 over the 125 mile course and would not have been able to ride so quickly if I had not.
Fuelling is a personal choice but I recommend giving these gels a try as you don't know what you are missing out on at present.

Forest Fruits tastes dreadful!!
Cons: tastes awful
"So before I go ahead and write this bad review, let me be clear: I actually love Torq products. I use the energy drink (pink grapefruit flavour esp. good), the recovery drink (strawberries and cream recommended) the gels (strawberry yoghurt and rhubarb & custard both tasty and easy to get down), and the bars too.
So I when I wanted a gel with some extra 'go' in it, I didn't hesitate to order a box of the Forest Fruits with Guarana gels. They work just fine, but I have to say they taste AWFUL; really bitter and just...weird. No idea if the Banoffee version is any better - maybe I'll give it a try... Meanwhile if anyone wants 23 forest fruits gels, they're going begging...."

Any better than the standard gels?
"I'm not sure these are any better than the standard gels. That said the standard gels are excellent so are these."

No side effects!
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, effective
"I have tried several gels. This is the only one which did not give me stomach cramp or other undesirable side effects. I only use gels (or fluids) on runs of over about 13 to 15 miles.
The manufactuer advises drinking fluids with the gel, so you are committed to carrying hydration as well.
My experience has been that this gel does give me a noticeable lift for up to 8 to 10 minutes (but not more than that) which has helped me break the wall more than once and kept me running at a reasonable pace when I might otherwise have slowed or even walked for the final couple of miles.
I liked the texture and flavour but this is a very personal thing. I purchased a couple of inidividual sachets before buying a whole box and I will buy more when I reach the end of this supply.
The sachets are compact and easy to use but I tend to use a small gel flask.
The manufacturer's claims for this product seem pretty reasonable to me. Only the price stops this from being a 5 star review."

Torq gels
Pros: High Quality
"I have used these previously and also use their powder mix. I used these gels as my major fuel during a 100 mile sportive. I used one of these at the top of each hour with a savoury snack at the bottom of the hour. I eased off in the last 90 mins as I didn't want to OD. I found these sat well on my stomach and whilst they're definitely sweet, they stayed down fine and I noticed an almost immediate lift after gulping one down."

Does the job but not for me!
"Great for longer rides - I really noticed a difference. BUT, if I used more than one I'd get stomach ache. Worth trying a couple of sachets before committing to buying a box."

torq gel
Pros: High Quality
Cons: Expensive
"I don't know if it's only in my head but i was certainly more focus every time i took one of those. A pity that it requires so much drink with it, but i guess that a good hydration is also key to success.
is it worth the price? definitively specially if you tend to struggle towards the end of your race but they will have to be taken at the right time!
give extra boost and focus.

"I recently did the London to Brighton bike ride in aid of charity and found that this product really worked. I didn't use it until I had 15 or so miles to do, ripped it open when I stopped for a short 2 min break and within a short time I was peddling like I could do another 50 miles. Incredible."

Nice energy kick - shame about the taste
"Bought a box of Torq gels "Forest Fruit" - a rather bitter, medicine like taste. These are far from the worst I've tried but why must it be so hard to get these to taste at least reasonably well?
Package is easy to handle and with fruit sugar in the mix my general feeling is that they do deliver a good kick of energy when needed."

Not Bad Taste - Good Nutrition
Pros: High Quality, good nutrition
Cons: Expensive
"I took a bit of a gamble on these but was pleasantly surprised. They taste good and you don't really need water with them. They do provide a good boost - I would have one every hour or so. Great for getting up that steep hill on the bike or running."

"Have used this product now on three 100km plus rides at the rate of 1 per hour. It tastes like medicine but it really does give you an energy kick. I will definitely be using them again."

High Energy Sacket
Pros: Great Value, High Quality
"I like the energy content of the sachet. It is a little annoying opening the package during the ride. You can easily get very sweet on your fingers. I would prefer screw top."
