Thule 561 - Worth it!!!!!
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Rugged, security
Cons: instructions need a bit of work
"I recently bought a new hatch back car and wasn't too keen on using the standrad boot mounted racks. For some reason I had my sights set on a roof rack, must be the after effects of watching the Tour De France!! After an exhaustive search a number of brands were thrown up from entry level own brand racks to the more expensive Thule brand.
I ordered this from wiggle and a couple of days later I was busy in my front room trying to make sense of the strangely complicated and yet vague instructions. Any way it probably took about 30 mins to put together.
Once this was complete it was straight down to the car to try it out. There was a small bit of thinking while I figured out how best ot mount the rack,(round vs square roof bars) but within 10 minutes I had my bike up on the rack and secured.
Extremely happy with the result. Complete confidence in the rack for securing the bike. Manage to have the bike on the roof and ready to go in a about 1 min. after my last event. Even managed to convert a few more into the benefits of bike roof racks. Plus sometimes I can day-dream that my car is one of the team support cars for the Tour or should that be le Tour."

Best Roof Mounted Rack
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"Brought the Thule 561 as needed another rack in addition to my existing Thule 591. Personnel opinion is the 561 is so much better than the 591. Seems to hold the bike a lot more firm and bike does not vibrate around at speed as much. Also think it is kinder to the bike, especially carbon bikes as does not clamp on the downtube. Maybe only disadvantages are the cost as it is much more expensive than the 591 for what is a simpler design and also the need to store the front wheel in the car (I don’t find it a problem as I always put my training wheels on for transport, keeping the race carbon wheels in the car). All in all excellent rack and as a previous reviewer commented I don’t see the point penny pinching on a rack as it is holding so much value."

Excellent Thule product
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"if you have a carbon frame bike you cannot use a 'grab' type carrier. This transports the bike with the front wheel removed and with Thule T track is simple to assemble and to mount your bike"

I like it....
Pros: High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"I have always had racks that have located on the frame of the bike before, but a new carbon framed road bike led me to this product, as I did not want to get any rub on the frame. This rack locates the bike by locking onto its front fork. It does this very well and is a lot more secure than you would expect, with little side to side movement. All in all a good product. Only slight issue is that you still need to store the removed wheel inside the car - however, I understand that Thule also make a wheel holder to mount on the rack."

THULE QUALITY
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Expensive
"As far as bike racks go, I'd be willing to spend a lot to make sure it keeps the thing that's worth more than my car, on the roof. This is expensive in my opinion, but I was willing to pay it. What you get is the usual Thule quality, which depending on the set-up you want from the rack, can be very annoyingly fiddly to set up. Once done, you're away & the rack takes a matter of seconds to get attached, with a few seconds more to attach the bike - Highly recommended."

Easy to load but now starting to show wear n tear
Pros: Attractive, Lightweight
Cons: Wears Out Easily
"I have had this bike rack for a couple of years now. It is easy to get your bike up onto the roof as only having one wheel at the rear balances the weight of the bike better. Its also more easy to reach (I am a girl 5ft5) than one that keeps both wheels on.
However I have started to notice the front is showing wear and tear and I get a knocking noise, no matter how tight the clamp. The noise does go once you get over 40 mph for some reason (?). The bike is very secure though and feels safer than the ones you clip onto the back of your car.
The only other downside is you cant open your boot fully as it hits the back end of the carrier.
Its a shame as I realy like the product and dont want to fork out (pardon the pun) on a tow bar.

This is the one.
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, very secure
"Without a doubt, this is the easiest-to-use bike rack that secures your bike, be it mountain or road safely to your car roof rack.
The rack locks to the car and the same key is used for locking the front forks to the unit.
It seats well because the point of gravity is lowered when you take off the front wheel and I think this makes it easier to put up on the roof.
It is very simple to use and easy to vary the width where the forks are locked on.
Don't let the initial assembly or first-time put you off, 'cause once you've used it you will be very pleased with your choice.
I am!
It comes with easy to understand instructions/drawings and is the usual Swedish high quality and design."
