Does the job
Pros: Adjustable, good performance
"I bought this to replace the centre pull brake on an old road bike. I had to drill out the fork crown and the mudguard bracket to take the Allen bolt, which was a pain. If you need a drop of more than 49mm, there isn't a huge choice of brakes, and this is a huge improvement over the old brake. It doesn't look quite a neat as the RX100 brakes I've got on my other bike, though,"

Cheap does not equal poor quality!!
Pros: Great Value, Attractive
"I wanted a simple set of brakes for a spare bike, so I didn't want to spend a whole bundle of money. I had a set of old Suntour brakes on there previously that were 10+ years old and these Shimano brakes have far exceeded my expectations. They are very tight and not sloppy with no excess movement. They have a good finish and the brake pads do the job well. At first, I thought they looked as hard as china, but on testing them, i almost threw myself over the handlebars - with much laughter 'at' myself for almost doing it. Highly recommended."

Sopping on a two Pence Piece
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Good Fit
"It's amazing how you get used to old equipment when throwing my fixie together i was using old parts that i had pulled off other bikes. When it comes to Brakes i'm never going to compromise again for the sake of £18 i now have the ability to stop in an emergency quicker than i have on any other bike. I also love the quick release as i'm constantly fiddling and having to release the brakes and reset them every time would be annoying but now just a flick of a lever and i can drop my wheel out."

Great value brake
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
Cons: no indexed qr
"Very good brake for the price, all the hardware seems solid and the pad compound is very decent quality.
The only thing I could think of that is missing is an indexed quick release"

Good product
"Fitted to a Surly Pacer that needs deep drop brakes to go around mudguards. They work fine and look better with Shimano kit than the usual Tektro alternative."

Noticeable improvement
Pros: Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
"I have two of these (both are "front" brakes) to replace my old centre-pulls. To fit the front brake, I had to enlarge the hole at the back of the fork with a drill, so that the allen-key nut would fit.
At the rear, the bolt is long enough that I could use the retaining nut from my old brake.
The brakes are sturdy and well finished, and the improvement in stopping power is very noticeable. My only grouse is that the quick-release lever is not that positive in operation, and I think it could easily be opened by accident."

Great Brakes on the Cheap
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"I bought these to fit my 27inch frame with a 57mm drop, they have been an excellent purchase that has increase my braking power a great deal. They got a full test when someone stepped out in front of me with 1m of breaking distance and I managed to avoid hitting them with braking alone.
They need some breaking in to get the brakes the right shape for your rims if you have old 27's, but aside from that they are fantastic."

Great performance for the money
Pros: Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, effective
"I bought this brake as a front brake for my fixed gear bike.
It was a HUGE improvement over the previous caliper (an old tektro number).
I think it represents great value for money."

Solves a problem, with brilliant results
Pros: Adjustable, High Quality, Rugged
"I bought this for use with a 27" fork and 700c front wheel (plus mudguard). Those few extra millimetres solve the problem. Excellent braking power and looks very nice, in a subtle way..."

Good value, poor pad material
Pros: Great Value
Cons: Poor Quality
"I got this caliper to replace a mini-V on my commuter that was squealing like a banshee. It has served its purpose admirably. It was easy to set up (although i did need to increase the drop with a bit of filing...) and it stops me without squealing. The only issue i have is that the pad compound is quite hard and requires firm pressure to slow you down quickly."

I can stop now
Pros: Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: Limited Color Choices, small diameter barrel adjuster
"Building up a FG bike from a retro frameset can take some work to get everything just so. Good braking for the cowards who can't run brakeless is a difficult proposal when you want 700c wheels on a 27" frame. Enter the BRR450 long reach brake caliper. Two fronts for their long mounting bolts and a curved washer later and the fear factor is gone. These brakes stop you, they don't just encourage deceleration. Modulation with my old 105 aero levers is excellent and outright power is just right to prevent supermanning over the bars on the first panic stop. If you've got a road bike that needs up to 57mm reach brakes, you won't go wrong with the 450s."

Perfect fit
Pros: Good Fit, Great Value
"I decided to refurbish a 25 year old road bike that I'd had built for me and wanted to change the brakes from the original cantilever style. Due to the old frame size I found it quite difficult to find new brakes but after seeing these they fitted in every way (price, size, style etc).
They arrived quickly and really do pull the bike up quickly. A very happy customer"

Superb value for money.
Pros: Adjustable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: could be stiffer
"Very solid, some fade under heavy braking but you can't expect high performance at this price level. I've tried a few of the deep drop (47-57mm) calipers including mid-range tektros and the Ultegra Shimanos and only the latter are noticeably better but more than double the price. Highly recommended."
