Shimano Dura Ace 7900 Chain Set
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"I have always been a loyal fan of Shimano group sets - they have stood the test of time and use, with my current Dura Ace set lasting over 4 years and more than 50,000km, through rain, snow and European mountains, and more recently, the humid and sandy conditions of the UAE.
I put this chain set on my bike one week before a 9 day trip to Switzerland and France. In the hands, it was significanlty lighter than the 2005 model I had been riding, thanks to the hollow structure and new alloy.
From the start it was incredibly smooth and it simply felt like I had a new bike. The new chainset / bottom bracket combination felt frictionless and smooth, with every pedal stroke seeming to go straight into the back wheel and onto the road. In the mountains, (cols in both the Swiss Jura and French side of the Pyrenees), the whole set retained its stength and again, it was clear that all the climbing power was transferred to the back wheel. While some of my cycling buddies suffered from chains falling off, either during changes or going over rough roads downhill at speed, I never had such problems, thanks to the trademark Shimano shaping of the teeth.
Aesthetically, the new two tone grey polish / matt finish combination looks very professional and modern, adding to the overall feel of something that is expertly designed and engineered.
Definitely recommend this if you're looking to upgrade."
