great urban light
Pros: Adjustable, Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile
"I bought this light after both my front and back Cateye lights had broken when they popped off going over potholes. The rubber design of these lights was the big selling point for me and they work. Tjey absorb the shock and do not rely on plastic clip mounts which in my experience are liable to break. Also much easier for switching between bikes.
Some reviews have questioned the battery life of them, I can't comment. Been using it for 2 weeks and no problems so far. I also havent had a problem with water leaking in, but I suppose it is under the saddle.
I think this is a great light for riding around town and definately bright enough for the job I think."

Top bit of kit
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Durable, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile
"Doing a regular friday night ride with son and some friends in Swaledale - no dry paths now and raining more often than not. Usually I have some road riding at start and finish. and am always in a rush straight from work. I got a bit fed up with the rear lights I was using - a Cat Eye and a Blackburn. Basically they work fine but there is a bit of a faff with mounting / swapping between bikes and fitting in the dark on the fell side. I bought this and a Knog Frog LED Rear Light and have found them to be brilliant as main or secondary light. Nice and bright, provide static and flashing option but didn't waste time and money with a hundred variations of display. Very light and compact. They are really well put together and more weather proof than anything else I have tried. They can be put on any size seat post and left or swapped between bikes in seconds with no tools or other mountings required due to the all in one design . One issue to watch with seat post mounting is that light can be obscured by trailing waterproofs, or need a wipe occasionally due to mud splatter. I have a Thompson layback post which can angle the light downwards slightly. The lens however does still direct light upwards, but I always tend to have second light on a helmet or rucksack just to make the point to drivers anyway. Overall build quality and design seems excellent. and battery life is good. Wiggle had them at as good a price as any and delivery was first class. Plus my experience of their customer service is superb."

Knog Skink, funky flasher!
Pros: Attractive, Good Fit, Great Value, High Quality
"Bought the Knog Skink to be used on my dusk commuter, and im well impressed.
Good quality build with a good design, combining function and style.
does the job need, i can be seen on my way to work and thats all that i asked from it.
i would say its the best back light i have had, im sure the cars behind don't like it but it keeps me seen!
i will be buying another set for my wifes bike."

Pros: Attractive, Good Fit, Lightweight, Rugged, Versatile, easy to switch from bike to bike, no need for brackets
Cons: not that easy to replace the batteries, could be brighter
"A great little rear light that's very quick to take on and off your bike and yet has a surprisingly strong grip on the bike when on. I bashed over plenty of potholes with this on my seat post and it hasn't fallen off. Whether the rubber loop that stretches around to fasten it to your bike will stretch and the light get a looser fit only time will tell but there are no signs of that at present - I've had it about two weeks and I'm constantly taking it on and off the bike and it fits as well as it did the first day. It's attractive, prettty strong, and has the usual flash/steady modes of display. I'd really like one of these that had a loop small enough so that I could attach it to the back forks but that still took regular batteries. The LEDs are regular 1/2 watts as you'll find in most bicycle lights. I"d like to see a brighter 1 watt version but I suppose this would drain it's battery too quickly - and that was what got me thinking it would be good if I could fit another couple onto the back forks.
All in all a great little light."

Knog too shabby
Pros: Attractive, Lightweight
"Feels like a quality made and designed product. The looping clip is not too stretchy and would not break easily. The button is a little fiddly. The lights are powerful and have good flashing options. Almost no light can be seen from side on so if you want something subtle that looks good but delivers power directly back, this is a good option."

Cons: Low Quality, Wears Out Easily, not water resistant
"This Knog unit is not water resistant in the slightest.
I am attaching a couple of photos which show the level the water reached in the unit and the amount of grit that entered the housing.
All battery and switch terminals are imediately immersed, rendering the unit about as much use as a candle in a wind test tunnel!

The Ultimate Aero Seat Post Solution
Pros: High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I own a BMC SLR-01 with an aero seatpost. I was after something which would finally stay straight, not protrude into my legs whilst cycling and reliable. Well, the first two are definitely answered. It's perfect for an aero seat post, stays square on even at the sharp teardrop section. Easy to operate, button at top and bright!
I cannot comment on how to change batteries, looks difficult but don't let that sway you away from this amazing light. I'm sure I'll work it out if the batteries go flat. And durability I also won't comment on, haven't ridden it in the rain and most likely won't (I have an older bike for wet weather).
Great colour selection, white looks great on a white frame! Almost hides it completely when in daylight. Could not ask for a better light!!"

Awesome rear bike light
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Versatile
"The Knog Skink LED Rear Light was a great purchase. These lights are higly visible at night, with the LED's angled up at the driver's line of sight. They are also quite stylish, very easy to take on and off and appear to be quite durable."

Great lights for winter road
Pros: Attractive, High Quality, Adjustable
"Great light for temporary use on my road bike during the winter months. Fits on/off perfectly and the light is nice and bright. I attach them for early morning rides in the dark, but remove them for afternoon sessions to avoid distracting from my bikes beautiful lines :) Great buy - highly recommended."

button stopped working
Posted March 13, 2012
Whilst I like the design and simplicity, as the Oble1 states the button contact dies. I found in my case this was down to water getting in. Whilst it says water resistant use in vaguely wet weather led to the contact shorting.
I tried applying some silicone grease (used in diving etc to maintain o-ring condition) around the button contact. Since doing this I have not had an issue with water getting in.
Shame it happens though as simple design.

Great Commuting Light
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I've been running one of these in conjunction with a Knog Frog as rear lights on my commute bike. I commute by bike most days and these have performed without any problems despite them being seat post mounted and therefore right in the firing line of any spray/grit/salt coming off the wheel (I don't use mudguards - but that's another story).
I've used quite a few lights in my time and I used to buy relatively cheap ones since the mounts tended to give up before the light, but the rubberised cover and strap mean that this are easily fitted, stay in place and the mounts don't become brittle or otherwise fail. They're also easy to swap between bikes if you want to.
Highly recommended."

Bright & Easy To use
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit
"The KNOG Skink LED rear safety light is simple to use, bright, light weight, no fuss and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is a little bit larger in size than I expected but it is a great design and easy to change from bike to bike without tools. It fits the seat post and seat stay of my road bike. Another great product from KNOG."

Stopped working after a little rain
Cons: Low Quality, not waterproof
"Do not purchase this light if it might get wet. I got this light wet from spray (i.e. it wasn't raining, just road water spraying from the rear wheel) and it stopped working, would turn itself on/off, or i couldn't turn it off without taking out the batteries. Don't bother with it if there is any chance it might get wet."

Looks: WIN , Sealing: FAIL
Pros: Attractive
Cons: Low Quality, Wears Out Easily
"If all you ever do is ride in the dry and want a light that is quick and easy to attach and remove, that's reasonably bright and looks cool then put this on your short list.
If you ride in any sort of wet weather then you might be in some trouble. The sealing is minimal, and once water gets in there then the switch on top will give up the ghost - dry it out and cross your fingers.
The looks and function (in terms of attaching and operating) are top. Shame about the practicalities."
