The way it sets weekly targets based on what i want to achieve and also lins to the Polar Personal Trainer website is first class. It has given me extra motivation in my training and has actually helped me achieve my goals a lot quicker. i can see a marked improvement in the quality of my training."

Excellent hrm
Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, High Quality, Adjustable, Good Fit
"This watch is smart enough to wear all the time, without 'showing off' that you're wearing a hrm.
Instruction booklet wasn't set out in the most logical way to set up, but the hrm itself is very easy to operate.
The training goals that the watch generates are quite fun, (even if they don't always coincide with training plan issued by the rowing club)
Useful features: easy to read display, switching to time mode when you move the hrm close to the belt, chest strap much more comfortable than the old ones.
Excellent product. Can't recommend too highly. (Be nice if it cost less though!)

My first heart rate monitor
Pros: Comfortable, Versatile
"The Polar FT60 is my first heart rate monitor, which I bought about a month ago. I wanted something that would help motivate me and give me guidance on my running and mountain biking. The real reason is that I found my fitness was slowly going down hill and it was stopping me from enjoying outdoor activities so much, so I needed something to get me going again. I have an application on my phone that uses GPS to tell me how far I ride and run and how fast etc. but I found this just motivated me to keep trying to run faster and further, which, having injured my calf / heel, I realise wasn't the best approach. The thing I like about the Polar FT60 is the way it sets goals for you (I think the feature is called "STAR"), based on good scientific backing from what I read. You choose whether you want to loose weight, gain fitness or maximise fitness. I chose "loose weight", thinking that this would require lower intensity exercise. Lower intensity and lower weight would both be better for avoiding injury. The watch sets you targets for time and calories to burn. I am male, 6ft2 weigh 93kg. The watch has set me a target each week of 4h:45m exercise and 3600 calories. I find these targets difficult to reach, especially while taking it easy for injury. But i expect that the target time is high because it is not that easy for me to loose weight, I have some excess fat but there isn't loads of it so there isn't really that much for me to loose!
Overall I think this was a great purchase, it is versatile - you can use it during most exercise (even swimming if you don't mind wearing the heart rate monitor strap in the water), helps you to train at the right intensity and helps to provide motivation. The watch is comfortable, as is the strap, the back light works well and the instructions are easy to follow to set it up."
