carradice SQR
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
"I waited a while for this but it was worth every minute. I commute into London in all weathers and this bit of kit is superb its streamlined behind you saddle and stem so I keep my speed up , V Waterproof with plenty of storage for a pair of shoes a top and jeans all of your tubes and gubbins fit in the side pockets , and the way it acts as a mud gaurd is very clever . If you want a carraige system for commuting then this just cant be beaten . Ive been riding for a few years and this is the best Ive found . Highly recommend . OH and its made in England and the quality is just spot on well done Carradice . % Stars all the way ."

Disappointed
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Unadjustable, Poor Fit
"I like the bag but have been disappointed in the positioning. When placed on the seat post it seems too far forward and brushes against the back of the legs continually. Very annoying. Have adjusted it as much as possible. Seems a design problem or doesn't suit my bike."

Brilliant
Pros: Durable, Rugged, High Quality, stable, waterproof
"I was a bit dubious about ruining the sleek lines of my new Verenti Millook, But the until I loose a bit more weight I can do that all by myself. I've never liked carrying stuff on my back, although did get used to it. But I saw this bag and remember in my younger days having a saddlebag which was brilliant as it attached to a bracket that clipped in a nanosecond to the my brooks saddle and, I think because the weight was passed down the seat tube through the bottom bracket, it was hardly noticeable. I thought this looked similar and it is, it's big enough to get a decent amount of stuff in for commuting or a full day ride. It clips onto the bracket attached to the seat tube really quickly (not quite in a nanosecond) and whilst I'm not the type to be flinging my bike around like a nutcase I don't notice it at all, I was quite shocked when I used my old cross bike with a rackpac how much I could feel it, And it had in exactly what I'd been carrying in this bag. It's been out in a few downpours and does keep your bum dry without mudgaurds & appears completely waterproof. All in all it's brilliant and seems tough enough to last ages which is just as well cause it's one of those things I already think I'll miss when it eventually wears out. It may not be the trendiest bag in the world but I actually think it gives my Verenti quite a good rugged look. All in all it's brilliant, thoroughly recomended."

Pros: Durable, Rugged
"I was looking forward to owning a British made bag, mine took a good few weeks for Carradice to supply wiggle, but arrive (Aug 2011) it did. After a short period of use my dissatisfaction set in. The positioning of the main buckle fastening had been changed from the original specification, resulting in the bottom half of the strap being anchored too close to the lid thus preventing it being closed fully.
Carradice tell me that they "will make the next batch with the webbing further down the mudguard from the lid so that it will be a tighter fit when closed" and that they would exchange mine although it is "not faulty". The only problem is that they are trying to make me jump through hoops, no offer to pay postage (not a light bag), and I must return it to them (and do without in the meantime) before they would send a replacement.
On the plus side the SQR bracket works well, the built in mudguard is good, and it is built to last.
So to cut to the chase, and as I imagine there are a number of the ill-fitting ones in the distribution pipeline, if you buy one where the lid does not close tightly get in touch with your seller first, you won't have much luck with Carradice."

"Second Carradice saddle bag I have owned. The first one lasted 30 years. Can't see why this one won't as well. Check needed clearance. I measured to make sure it would fit but still needed to tweek it as I was at the lower limit. The bag and bracket are very well made and the bag has plenty of interior space. Not tried it in rain yet but can't see it not being watertight. Overall very satisfied."

great comuting bag
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable
"Done my time with a rucksack, puchased this 2300 miles ago and has been exelent .was initialy concerned about the loose external pocket flaps (no drawstrings)but nothing has ever fallen out even over rough terain.A durable bag, having once riden at speed through a narrow gate ripping a pocket top clean off ,(very hard hit!),it was easy to sew back on , no damage to material. The quick release is great allthough i find alittle wax lube on the rails helps with attatching /detatcthing,plenty of space for my full comute kit plus packed lunch."

bag for a mountain bike
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Good Fit, no sweaty back
"I have a 30 min on road and 40 min off road mountain bike to work ( some guys have all the luck) and was getting fed up with having to wear a rucksack. this bag is the perfect alternative It is big enough to take my waterproofs, tool-kit, jumper and sandwiches with room left over to fit other extras I might need. It is held very well on the bracket and does not sway or bounce around at all even on rough off road. The bracket is held on by two metal straps which attatch on to the seat post. Initially I had a problem with them working loose. The addition some rubber strips around the seat post for the straps to grip on solved this problem and I have had no trouble with it working loose since. This bag is so good I would not dream of mountain biking with a rucksack on now. make sure you have plenty of clearance below your seat to the back wheel . the bracket is about 8 cm long but you have to move the bag below this to attach it on so you need about 30 cm clearance to the back wheel."

problem
Pros: Rugged
Cons: Expensive
"Looks OK but doesn't hold that much. Biggest problem when fitting to my road bike is that there is not enough space below the bracket to attach the bag without removing the rear wheel!"

rugged Bag of Holding
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Versatile
"convenient storage solution, very rugged construction, quite waterproof in steady drizzle as well as in monsoon-like downpours. Big enough for all the gear i need on day rides or randonneur events (spare clothes, rain gear, tools and a few spare parts), slim fit stays out of the way. Great alternative for folding bikes. Price on wiggle is a bonus for this piece of quality, durable gear. I recommend the straps to transform it into a backpack, for convenient handling when off the bike."

Perfect!
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Good Fit
"This bag is perfect for people like me, who like carry more than they should on long rides. I've tried several other rear fitting bags and this is the only one that has come close to satisfying me. Fitting was pretty straight forward and I managed to get tools, a change of clothes AND a pair of running shoes for exploration of the bike on a recent day long ride. Couldn't be happier with this product!"

useful for years
Pros: Durable, High Quality, Rugged
"typicall Carradice stuff: usefull tough, with high quality and i love the canvas - I would say it is carradice-rough.
I use the bag for commuting all the days to work on my cross bike without fenders and was "positively surprised" of the withstand against water - so my bum doesn't get wet anymore. There is plenty of room, I love the quick on and off, if I ride into a supermarket and the bag doesn't really influence the handle of the bike so that i have still the feeling of riding a sporting commuting bike.
Wishes for the future - as it already said from the users before: the further development of the side pockets should include draw strings - but I also have to say that since now, I'd never lost something out of the pockets (phone wallet tissue tools...) - so I trust them!"

A bag for all occasions!!
Pros: Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight, Versatile, Good Fit, big capacity
Cons: Expensive
"Got this bag for long rides and it is the perfect size. The bag capacity is amazing and the bulid quality is excellent. Capacity is about 16 litres, but that is more than plenty and can take up to 10kg of weight !
This is a great day pack and could easily be used for commuiting and with panniers.
My only gripe is that the SQR qucik release is a bit tricky to get off, but i put that down to newness!
For sheer capacity and usefuleness this is the daddy!"

Surprisingly Large
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Rugged, High Quality, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
"Cannot speak highly enough of this item. Very useful for commuting as can fit in all the essentials (lunch, change of clothes, tools, even shoes) Bought originally for lightweight touring and does the job well. fits in most of my kit and allows tent poles/ground mat to be strapped on to the top.
Bit quirky and different, surely less drag than paniers, surprisingly large capacity. Hand made in the UK.
Drawbacks if any are that its a bit awkward to carry about and its a bit on the heavy side even when empty."

Solid and roomy
Pros: Durable, High Quality
"I have bought this for audaxing in 2010 and in preparation for 2011 PBP but have already started using it for commuting.
It's robust and not too heavy and the SQR fitting system is simple - so hopefully less prone to complications.
Only one gripe is that the robust fabric makes it hard to fully close side pockets when not full - but I imagine that as they get broken in and lose some of their stiffness this will resolve itself.
Funnily enough I had to wait a while for Wiggle to get this product in stock and got an apology from customer services for the delay - 24 hours before it showed up here!"

Pros: Durable, Good Fit, High Quality, Rugged
Cons: side-pocket closure
"I don't know of a better bag of this type. The tour has a great size, doesn't stick out like wings and holds plenty of gear for commuting. It doesn't quite have the space to hold a pair of shoes with a change of clothes. The side pockets would benefit greatly from a drawstring in the same fashion as the main compartment: synthetic 'collar' with drawstring. The loop on the rear to dangle a light from is a nice touch but the light will bounce around with every little bump. The SQR mount itself is very easy to use. Take heed of the instructions and the clearance required because on smaller frames it may be a problem. Also note that the amount of seat-overhang towards the rear of the bike may prevent easy fit and removal of the bag from the SQR mount.
Finally had it tested in 1hour 20minutes of moderate rain with some strong wind and the contents were perfectly dry."

Great substitute for a backpack
Pros: Adjustable, Comfortable, Durable, Rugged
Cons: fitting can be tricky
"I had to wait a couple of months for this to be in stock, but it was worth it. The bag fits well behind the saddle and I catch myself checking to make sure it's really there! Holds quite a bit and most importantly, I don't wear a backpack anymore! Freedom!!
A note of caution: I have a Brooks Flyer saddle (with springs) which made fitting the bag a bit challenging. If you have a sprung saddle, you will need more clearance."
