Lovely bag- in the right application
Pros: Rugged, High Quality, great 'trad' look
"Can't fault the quality of workmanship - the label is signed by the person who stitched it. A traditional piece of kit, it turns heads and looks striking under my carbon saddle, though a bit out of place. A bit 'quirky', I suppose.
The 'Nelson' is surprisingly capacious- too big for my original application of long day tours. In hindsight I'd have preferred the 'Barley'.
Straps are a bit awkward, so you don't want to be opening and closing it all the time. It makes you plan your moves a bit more.
I use the SQR quick release, which works well enough.
The mass of a big bag under the seat can really affect your riding style when standing up, so for big carrying capacity I would probably be more comfortable with a traditional rack and low-slung bags. (Try fixing something heavy under your saddle and riding with it to see what I mean)
That said, it is useful for regular commuting.
Sturdy, reasonably waterproof.

Pros: Durable, Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Versatile, Good Fit
Cons: Limited Color Choices
"This tried and tested design solves how to conveniently have enough carrying space for day to day items as well as enough for longer trips and have a set of tools etc. tucked away in the side pockets."

great bag
"It's well constructed ( the hardware and straps look suspect for long term, but time will tell) and a classic design for good reason. I'm amazed at how much I can cram into this thing and not notice it's there when riding. A full change of clothes, lunch, and a few sundries in the main compartment alone."

Excellent bag
Pros: Great Value, Attractive
"Enough room for everything for a credit card tour. Seems to handle the rain well. Side pockets hold the rain/cold gear so you can keep the main compartment closed during the day.
Hangs well from the brooks saddle.

Carradice Nelson Saddle Bag
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged
"Great bag. Does what it is intended to do which was to make my road bike into a reasonable day tourer. Needed the Carradice Bagman support to use with my saddle but other than that, great buy."

Carradice Nelson Saddlebag
Pros: Durable, Great Value, Rugged, High Quality, Versatile
Cons: couldn't get hold of a green one
"Just the job, well made, plenty of space. Make sure your saddle has saddlebag eyes or use Cyclo eyes or the bracket available from Brooks.
The only improvement would be to have a couple of internal pockets to hold keys, money etc."

Nice bag
Pros: Durable, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged
"Have traveled with painers and on sagged trips previously but I wanted to give lightweight touring a go. This bag handled all the gear I would need to go indefinitely in a developed area. Layers, change of clothes, repair tools, cell phone charger, etc. Coupled with a small front rack that my sleeping bag and bivy were strapped to I just returned from a 5 day tour down the Pacific Coast of California.
The bag is sturdy and very classy, kept my gear safe and dry, and was simple and functional. I used a standard sized bagman which fit my size 55cm frame with a bit more clearance between the rear tire and bag."

Excellent bag
Pros: Durable, Great Value, High Quality, Rugged, Versatile
Cons: old fashioned if that concerns you
"A good old fashioned bag in which you can through nearly everything. Much better than trendy modern in-line bags, I had forgotten how much bigger these are. You need to have patience with the leather straps though and a quick fastening arrangement might be better."
