Good quality, simple to use
Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Rugged, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: midly confusing to set up for the inexperienced
"This is a good computer, that on the whole is simple to set up and easy to use. It has all the features that I require, is light, easy to read and simple to operate when riding. Great value for money through Wiggle too.
I had some minor difficulties setting up due to my inexperience with these things and because the instructions are written in very small letters, which made it difficult for me to read. Also, you need to make sure you start and follow the step by step process. This was made a little difficult because the unit comes with two (2) English language instruction forms and neither explains that one must be completed first (I started with the wrong one, the yellow one, and ended in a mess when pairing the computer to the cadence sensor). I managed to stumble through to get it paired once I worked through the steps on the other form.
I recently had the misfortune of hitting a car that suddenly stopped in front of me, and the computer didn't miss a beat (despite my 3 week old cervelo being wrecked!)

It does what it says on the box, but…
Cons: not versatile enough, adjustment can be tricky
"I bought this computer in the hope that it would satisfy my needs, but I am disappointed, although I can’t complain as it does what it says on the box.
On my old bike I have a Cateye Astrale, which is not wireless but displays both cadence as well as the other usual functions. From my point of view its strength is that it can switch between cadence and speed in the main display. Due to the passing of years and the need for reading specs, I cannot read easily the smaller display. I use the combination of cadence and heart rate (from a separate monitor) to guide my riding performance and the Astrale was ideal for this, with the option of the cadence showing in the main display (which I can read).
Before buying the Strada I tried to contact Cateye via their website, to find out more about it. My e-mails always bounced, which was not helpful. The information elsewhere on the Web does not give the size of the display screen nor the size of the individual displays. I had hoped that maybe I would be able to read the smaller display, but sadly this tends to be a blur. As the Strada only gives speed in the main display I cannot see the figure for cadence when riding. I can only do this when on the Turbo, when I can wear glasses!
Having purchased the Strada, I found that I needed a magnifying glass plus normal reading specs to read all the fitting instructions, the writing is so small. Installation is not the easiest, particularly when positioning the sensor on the fairly sculpted chain stay on a carbon frame. It would be a good idea if an extra set of cable ties were provided as they can’t be reused, and it is tricky to get the position right first time. Unlike the Astrale, the sensors for both speed and cadence are in the same unit and this makes the adjustment of the sensors more awkward.
Be aware that when removing the computer from its mounting on the bars it is quite easy to reset all the displays to zero. You have to learn a technique to avoid this.
I am now going to try to find another Astrale in place of the Strada, which is a pity as I did not want to adorn a new carbon frame with extra wires, unless somebody has an alternative suggestion. I think that the Astrale may now be obsolete, so this might be difficult."

Best Cycle Computer I've Ever Had
Pros: Adjustable, Attractive, Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Rugged
"I've had a couple of different computers over the years and I researched this one very carefully. This one is the best I've seen for what I wanted - no cabling, easy to set up on the bike and configure, just a single press each time to start/wake up the computer and to scroll through the different displays - time, speed, distance(s), cadence plus averages, max's etc.
It's not a fault/con but it's probably a good idea to order spare cable ties and magnets as a future long term maintenance item. They are cheap and save the inconvenience."

Posted August 5, 2010
Having bought this computer recently i had heard great reviews aouut same. My new one arrived and when i tried to fit it to my Specialized Tarmac i was very dissapointed that it didnt fit. The speed part of the sensor when mounted was rubbing off the bottom tube of the frame. there is nop fix to it i am left with a very expensive computer.

Worth the extra money : )
Pros: Attractive, Durable, High Quality
"I wasn't convinced I needed to spend the extra money for the cadence functionality. But it was worth it. Both for the extra info and the excellent mounting system at the rear of the bike. It's so much more secure than the front fork mounting system, both in riding and in transit plus a major point for me is that it gives feedback when training on my Cyclops winter trainer.
I had a Sigma front mounting computer on a Trek 2000 Ultegra road bike. It was much bigger (a little easier to read), didn't fit the front forks that well and kept sliding round the fork until one day at the start of a race it flicked into the spokes and flew off. After that and delaying my start it never really worked again. It was also a little more inconsistent in comparison to the Cateye particularly in the button press and not so logical in trying to set it up (I had to keep coming back to the instructions). I was trying to buy something on a budget rather than quality and it's not comparable to the Cateye in my opinion, other than the bigger screen was easier to read if that's an issue for you.
The new click system of the Cateye works really well. The button is at the back, so you just press on the screen and it clicks the button behind on the mount. It keeps the water out and is much more reliable - you know when you've pressed the button, whereas the Sigma was soft on the buttons and you weren't sure whether you had pressed them or not. This gives a reassuring click. My previous Cateye Enduro was similar with the button, this one is a vast improvement.
What I really like about this design is that in between the speed readout and the mode display it cycles through the different modes, i.e. time, cadence, distance, distance2, average speed etc... so you can see how many clicks you need to do to get back to the one you want (does that make sense?!) On the Sigma you'd just keep clicking and I'd go past the function I actually wanted and had to go all the way back again.
If you've got poor eyesite, you might want to mount this on the front handlebars rather than the stem as the readout is a little small, but I like it personally for it's size and it not being overbearing on the bike.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend it - great fit, secure, a little fiddly to set up originally, but only as it was my first time mounting the rear sensor and it's an excellent design for my bike (Trek 2000). Very happy."

Works on my Cervelo S2
Pros: Attractive, Durable, Great Value, Lightweight
Cons: Not Enough Features
"I previously had a wired computer for cadence & rear wheel speed on my old bike, but decided to get a wireless unit for my new Cervelo S2.
The computer easily mounts to my 3T stem, but it is a little hard to read there, so I might move it forward onto the handlebar. Better if it had the option of mounting in front of the stem.
The wireless cadence/speed transmitter fitted to my chainstay, but has to be angled out 10-15 deg. toward the crank to register the cadence magnet which requires a small 2-3mm clearance. The speed sensor arm allows plenty of adjustment & needed to be angled up above the stay to provide correct rear wheel magnet clearance. Programming the unit was not as simple as I would have liked (as the manual wasn't great), but persistance will get you there. You also need a small pointy object to press the 2 other little buttons on the back of the computer when programming it.
Cadence seems like a bit of an after thought on this computer. It doesn't have average or max cadence and because it only shows speed on every display, you have to cycle through the 8+ screens to find cadence (displayed in small numbers down the bottom). It also means the wireless transmitter unit is more bulky. In hindsight I would have bought the cheaper Strada wireless model.
It has been reliable in first 3 weeks. Battery life is predicted 2yrs. Looks like the transmitter (sensor) battery can be changed without removing the unit from the chainstay. Programmable odometer is also a great feature when replacing the battery.
Like all computers, it takes time to set them up, but then you can forget about them until the battery wears out. Thankfully the wirless transmission signal doesnt interfere with my wireless Polar HR monitor & Polar speed sensor on front wheel.
At the start of the ride, you need to press the screen once to wake it up (from SLEEP mode), then it will begin recording your ride. It has 2 trip meters as well as odometer. It is handy to use one trip meter for service intervals / chain replacements & the like.
Wheel size settings can be entered for two bikes, but at this price, get one for each bike.
NOTE: the very small wheel & cadence magnets will join together in the pack, so you will need to seperate them. You didn't lose one when opening the pack..thankfully!"

Fantastic
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Good Fit
"Simple to set up and easy one touch use after that. The usual Cateye quality. The speed/cadence sensor is great and such a simple idea.
Small computer but surprisingly easy to read screen.
I bought a Strads for spare bike and this for main (I actually reviewed/rated the Strada as this in error but there you go) both are fantastic.
I got sick of paying 25-30 just for Polar sensor replacements, this is great, just change battery (2032) and you are off again.
Never will look back now I have returned to Cateye"

Strada cadence/speedo
Pros: Durable, Attractive, Good Fit, easy to install, good instructions
Cons: display too small
"A good cadence / speedo. Its not too fiddly to install yourself - just read the instructions carefully. Easy to navigate through the menus and setup. Only used it once so far and thought Id pay more attention to the cadence but didnt - the downside of this I found was the screen was a little on the small side especially the cadence display. Its ok but wouldve preferred a bigger screen"

Pros: Great Value, Attractive, High Quality, Lightweight, compact
Cons: Poor Fit, poor instructions, sensor hard to fit
"For the money I think it would be hard to get a better bike computer. It is lightweight and compact and has all the functions I was looking for e.g. speed, cadence, odometer etc. However, the product is let down by inadequate, confusing and sometimes incomprehensible instructions. I also had trouble fitting the sensor to my bike and eventually resorted to using a third plastic tie to locate it firmly. Once fitted and programmed, the computer is easy to use."

Has all the basic stats plus cadence
Pros: Attractive, High Quality
Cons: Expensive, Not Enough Features
"Does a very good job at showing all necessary stats, plus cadence, and is wireless. Once button touch is always nice, numbering is large enough to read, but lower info is sometimes too small to read while you're on the move."

Does the job nicely
Pros: Great Value, High Quality, Lightweight, Good Fit
"I had to return the wireless version of this because my Fuji Superme womens bike has strangely shaped chainstays and it wouldn't fit properly. I should have just bought this one in the first place. Good fit, easy to install, small components so can fit just about any bike I'd say. Excellent price. I thoguht the wiring would be a hassle and get in the way but it doesn't at all. Def recommend."

Works well but fiddly to fit sensor.
Pros: High Quality, Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons: Poor Fit
"I was interested in my cadence so I bought this.
The display is small but easily readable, even with my failing eyes!
Was a bit awkward fitting the sensor to my tricross sport but got there in the end.
I would recommend you immediately discard the flimsy thin cable ties supplied and use some stronger ones, they're only a few pence and will make fitting this much easier.
Also, consider rotating the speed part of the sensor to an upward position unlike the instructions. This was the only way I could get the sensor close to both my crank arm and my spokes."
